Course Curriculum

10

  • Course was quite difficult, especially the WSET L3 was a tough one to crack but we were given the right guidance and education which was very helpful.

Admission Experience

  • I wanted to study in wine and spirits management so I checked all the colleges around the world for that. And I found the KEDGE business school, Burgundy school of business and hongkong polytechic university was best in that,
  • But I chose Kedge, I only applied to Kedge because they have the best and perfect course for wine and spirits business and it is located in Bordeaux, which is the wine capital of the world. There is also Burgundy School of Business which also has a similar program. I was also considering other schools in Italy who had a Food and Wine program. There is also Hongkong Polytechnic University - International wine management, this one is a wine focused course, however I wanted both wine and spirits.
  • I had a connection with Kedge as it was my dream college since 12 th grade. When I got this opportunity to apply, I was extremely happy, after an interview with the director of the program, I got it.So, admission process was very smooth and professionally handled.
  • Factors:
  1. ROI ( at that time Kedge graduates made€ 35,000 / annum )
  2. Faculty ( kedge has top industry experts and many Master of wine qualified Professionals)
  3. Location: Bordeaux ( Wine Capital of the world)
  • There were no exams required, but you have to pass TOEIC post M1 ( first year, pathway year)
  • Eligibility: Bac +3 / +4
  • I applied to 2021 intake . It took approximately 2 months . I applied around February ( eligible for early bird) and got admission around April. I joined the school on September 2021. I was a simple process. Application - Application review - Interview call - Interview - Acception and Welcoming. I had to prepare my visa and flight tickets and finances by the time I joined. I was allowed to make payment in part.

Class Schedule

10

  • 4 -6 lectures a day approximately starting from 7:30 am / 8 am till 3/4/6 pm
  • A large percentage of Indian students are at Kedge.
  • 30 students per class total strength in the second year. Around 60 to 80 in the first general year.

Faculty

10

  • I don't know the ratio, a lot of faculty were present. Multiple for each subject. Sometimes over 4 per subject. All are highly qualified.
  • Teaching methodology like I mentioned a practical approach.
  • Yes there is assistance provided for internship/job search, CV guidance, contacts.
  • Mr. Jérémy cukierman , Master of Wine, I admire the most. Such an accomplished person with deep knowledge and passion in this field.

Campus Life

10

  • In Kedge there are so many events, activities, clubs/ associations that I have lost track of it.
  • There are a lot of associations in Kedge that you can participate in like the Melting Potes, the wine association, cooking association, sports association.
  • We also have a lot games setup sometimes like a bouncy race course in the campus ground. We had access to the gym, library.
  • A lot of travel involved in this particular course to many vineyards and distilleries. I got to visit at least 20 places in France thanks to Kedge and the associations. “

Part Time Jobs

  • You can work for 20 hours maximum as a student on student visa. You can work with the associations I think. Or most students find work at cafes / restaurants/ supermarkets in the city as a waiter/ cashier. Or even as a baby sitter, English language instructor. Upto your skills, you can find suitable part time jobs.
  • Its not easy, it's not difficult. You need to search a lot in person, and speak at least A2 level French.
  • Indian students usually prefer working in Indian restaurants, supermarkets and also do baby sitting jobs. They make I think 750-850€ / month approx. Which can cover your living expenses if you're mindful of your spending.
  • Please make sure you speak French in order to find a decent paying part time job and a full time job post graduation, it is indispensable.
  • You can apply online indeed for example but the best way is to print CVs and hand deliver it to cafes or bars or restaurants or even supermarkets, it is more effective.
  • Make sure you only put relevant experience/ skills on CV, don't give them your professional CV, put basic skills that are relevant to the job.
  • One tip for wine students: go find jobs at wine bars or wine stores! It is going to help you gain experience and make extra money while studying. You can also do an apprenticeship while studying which will look great on your CV.

Placement

10

  • I did graduate with a job offer. 97% do! But if you need work in France, it is your responsibility to learn French before graduation to find easily a job in France.
  • Average salary was 35,000€ now it's 40,000€ .
  • Pernod Ricard, Diageo, Châteaus and wineries in France. International companies across the world recognise the value of such a degree.
  • There are recruiters who come to the campus, but not many wine and spirits companies.
  • Students are able to find work easily through job portals such as vitijob.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • Off campus. I stayed in Merignac which was far from the college located in talence in the first year for 425 € rent, double occupancy, fully furnished, independent house. Very small and uncomfortable to live in. But the house was located in central Merignac hence it was accessible to all bus connections and tram.
  • I found it through studapart (recommended app for housing in France)
  • Second year I stayed in Gradignan, quite close to Kedge 10-15 mins by bus. 450€ rent, it was a 4 person occupancy. This was a great place to live fully furnished with all amenities in the building. 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms. It was again close to the gradingman centre, hence close to the bus station, however the tram station was not close here.

Exams

  • TOEIC is an English Proficiency Exam for professionals that needs to be taken for M2 no need for M1 . M 1 is the pathway course and M2 is the specialisation course.
  • Your 10 th, 12 th certificates , Bachelors certificate, and marksheet are a requirement along with you CV in European format.
  • Interview was there with the course director for me. It was online and pivotal for the admission process, it is important to crack this interview and show how you are open to interact with International students and thrive in this atmosphere.

Events

10

  • A lot of events, games festival celebrations of all popular festivals around the world, multicultural experiences.
  • In campus, we had events such as chinese new year celebration, diwali, all the French festivals of course.
  • We also regularly had exhibitions of vintage cars, unique finds.

  • I am not aware of how many students receive but a few of my batchmates said they recieved a scholarship too.
  • Mine was 2000€ a merit scholarship , my batchmates some of them got a bit more as well.
  • There is also Bourse:
  • The KEDGE Scholarship is a social scholarship.
  • The scholarship is therefore paid to students in precarious situations: applications are analysed on the basis of household income (family income), then ranked in order of priority. This ranking allows the KEDGE grant to be paid out until the allocated budget is exhausted.
