Course Curriculum

8

  • It was a combination of both theoretical and practical and also included a lot of presentations and team projects.
  • Big positive is that you are able to collaborate and contribute as a team on the majority of the projects.
  • The classes were usually scheduled during the day.. starting at 8 am and until 5 pm. There would be odd days when the class would end around 1 pm. But you can expect 8-5 on daily basis.
  • We had 30 students in our class. Majority of them being French. There were 5 Indians and around 10 international students.

Admission Experience

  • I only applied to Kedge Business School (Marseille Campus) and was lucky to get an admit.
  • Although I looked into Emlyon business school,  Skema, EDC Paris Business School, AMOS Business School in France.
  • I also looked into Loughborough university in the UK.
  • Deakin University, Bond University , Victoria University in Australia could have also been an option.
  • Curriculum, ranking and cost were the major factors for choosing the business school.
  • The admission process was to submit and application with SOP and LOR along with relevant documents. It was followed by an interview with a professor to access.
  • For eligibility you are required to have a minimum IELTS score, completed 12+3 or 12+4 years of education.
  • The overall admission process was smooth with the only challenge being the interview process.
  • I enrolled for Summer intake and that's the only one available at Kedge Business School
  • The process took 3-4 months for entire process and  it included Campus France verification
  • You would also need an authorised translated marksheet and other documents to apply.

Step 1 Was an application with SOP, LOR, Certificates and credentials.
Step 2 Interview with college professor
Step 3 Acceptance and other formalities

Faculty

8

  • Every subject had a different faculty. I think more than faculty -student ratio, its best to consider subject to faculty ratio.
  • The methodology was varied across various different professors. But they all had presentations ready along with daily tasks and predetermined group projects that facilitated smooth transition of the course
  • The course would give you enough guidance but one will have to research into things to learn more about industry that will help land a job.
  • Unfortunately the professors don't assist students to access any jobs and it's difficult to access their personal networks
  • I admit Thomas Bouvard and Lionel Maltese of all the facilities. The former worked on Uhlsports and Lionel for his extensive work experience and diverse profile working across various tennis and football projects.

Campus Life

8

  • Kedge has 3 in France. Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille.
  • You can have access to sports rooms, gym, grounds, study room, meditation centre, private cabin to work with team members, cafeteria and also auditoriums.
  • You would have students festival named differently every year.  Festivals would keep coming roughly around every 3-4 months. You can have FIFA or other sports competitions and parties regularly.

Part Time Jobs

  • Unlike other business schools or countries where you can actually find on/off campus jobs.. things are actually very different in France or in particular Marseille.
  • The school doesn't offer any jobs to earn a bit of income.
  • Stuff like Uber is also not possible for students to work with in France due to licence limitations.
  • It is super difficult to get a part time job too considering lack of on campus opportunities and language barrier.
  • Most can try working in restaurants but with French being a language barrier it becomes difficult to get a part time job. Students in Paris can try to join baby sitting or being an English tutor. But I think that's as far as it gets with securing part time jobs in France. You can expect around 10 to 15 per hour, but the figure could be very vague depending on where you and what you are working on.

Placement

4

  • 20% approx found opportunities immediately within 6 months
  • Salary could be around 1500-2000 euros per month for an internship.
  • Not much scope for an on campus but students have to themselves go into the market, network and apply for jobs
  • Being into sports, not many companies came on board for us. We have to make our way ourselves and find the job.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I opted for student accommodation close to college. It is called Alotra. You can have the link to it directly from college to book a room and then communicate further via email.
  • Monthly rent was 650 euros and included a room with a private bathroom. The kitchen and laundry was shared. You can also opt for rooms without washrooms to want a cheaper alternative.
  • The biggest challenge is to find a place from India if you are looking for a private room. There could be scams that you may come across.. better to stick to student hostel/accomodation.
  • I would recommend students to find accommodation close to school as travelling to city could become a bit tiring and time consuming.
  • My accommodation was 3 kms away from campus.

Exams

  • IELTS, Statement of Purpose, LOR, CV, transcripts, degree certificate, translated documents as per requirement is what is required.
  • Yes, the interview part of my application. You would be asked to share your background first and why sports management. You would be asked a general industry wide question and the idea would be to see your thought process on a certain issue related to sports or sports business.
  • The interview aims to see your interest in sports and the interviewee make you feel comfortable throughout.

Fees

  • It was around 19000 euros when I applied. And to be paid yearly. There could be changes recently in the fee structure.
  • Monthly expense to stay in Marseille would be in between 1000-1500 euros depending on the accommodation you book.
  • Accommodation could be around 800-1500 approx
  • Transportation 50 euros.
  • Groceries and living 1000 approx .
  • Personal expenses would fall inside 100 euros for one's leisure.

Scholarship

  • No, unfortunately I had no scholarship available for me. But I think there are a few government based scholarships in france that you can apply for, although the chances would be very slim.
  • One can look for Erasmus+ scholarship and you can also visit campus france offices in India for more information.
  • I had no one in my batch who had a scholarship. I think the other universities would have better scope of achieving scholarships to waive off tuition fees.
