Management aptitude tests are mandatory for the Master in Management and International MBA. Accepted tests are GMAT, GRE, TAGE MAGE, or, for Indian applicants only, CAT. EMLYON also offers its own free online management test for MiM candidates.

- Hold native English speaker status
Most central, state, and private Indian universities deliver English-medium Bachelor’s degrees and meet criterion 1 or 2. Upload your degree certificate’s medium-of-instruction note through the makersboard portal to claim the waiver.

EMLYON Business School International MBA Admissions
The EMLYON Business School International MBA runs in two formats, per the official International MBA page. Full-time takes 11 or 16 months fully on-campus in Lyon. Part-time runs 2 years, blending online and residential modules.
EMLYON Business School MBA Eligibility and Test Requirements
You need a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years of professional experience. Submit a GMAT, GRE, or TAGE MAGE score; waivers are possible under specific senior-experience conditions. English tests accepted include IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, PTE, and Cambridge CPE.
EMLYON Business School MBA Rounds and Selection
Admissions are rolling, with the committee meeting monthly between October 2025 and July 2026 for the September 2026 intake. The three-step process covers an online application, a 1.5-hour digital assessment with cognitive and behavioural exercises, and a committee decision (direct, conditional, interview, or rejection).
Base tuition for the 2026-2027 cycle is €49,500 (around ₹52.98 Lakhs), with the application fee at €120 (around ₹12,845). Scholarships of up to 60 percent are available to Indian applicants on merit and financial-need bases. See the full International MBA breakdown for tuition and funding details.
Planning note: EMLYON’s International MBA is ranked #41 globally by Financial Times 2026 and #13 in Europe. Indian applicants targeting senior strategy or consulting roles often pair the application with Campus France’s Excellence-Major scheme and the school’s Individual Scholarship of up to 30 percent.
EMLYON Business School PhD Admissions for Indian Students
The EMLYON PhD in Management is a fully funded program taught entirely in English. Indian applicants compete with a global cohort for a small intake each September, per the official EMLYON PhD application page.
EMLYON Business School PhD Eligibility
You need a Master’s degree (preferred) or a strong Bachelor’s with research evidence. GMAT and TOEFL scores are required. Statement of purpose, academic references, and writing samples are screened first. Selection is highly competitive.
EMLYON Business School PhD Funding
EMLYON pays full tuition for all admitted PhD students plus an annual stipend of around €19,000 (₹20.34 Lakhs) per year for the 2026-2027 academic year. The stipend covers basic living costs in Lyon. There is no application fee.
The deadline for the September 2026 cycle (January 31, 2026) has passed. The next live deadline is January 31, 2027 for September 2027 entry, with decisions emailed by end of March 2027.
EMLYON Business School Application Process for Indian Students
EMLYON Business School uses a single online portal (makersboard) for almost all programs. The flow is the same across UG and PG, with timing differences and one extra step for PhDs.
- Create your makersboard account on the emlyon applicant portal and select your target program
- Upload academic credentials: transcripts, degree or progress certificate, passport copy, and CV in English
- Add test scores: English (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE) plus GMAT/GRE/CAT/TAGE MAGE if applying to MiM or MBA
- Pay the €120 to €140 application fee (₹12,845 to ₹14,986) on the emlyon application portal by credit card
- Complete the 1.5-hour digital assessment: cognitive tests, behavioural avatars, and a deferred 15-second video interview
- Await committee decision via email and makersboard, typically within 3 to 6 weeks of completing the assessment
- Confirm enrolment within 10 calendar days of receiving your offer letter, per portal instructions
Admission decisions usually arrive 3 to 6 weeks after the digital assessment. Offers can be direct, conditional (subject to final transcripts or English score), or post-interview. Once you accept, the school’s international office issues an enrolment certificate for your French visa file.
Insider note: The digital assessment cannot be paused or restarted. Take it in a quiet room with stable WiFi, a working webcam, and your passport ready. Indian applicants often fail this stage due to network drops, not weak content.
EMLYON Business School Documents Required
EMLYON Business School expects all paperwork in English (or with certified English translations). Upload everything to your makersboard account in PDF format before the digital assessment opens.
- Valid passport covering your full study duration (or birth certificate if passport pending)
- Class XII certificate and mark sheet (for UG applicants)
- Bachelor’s degree certificate and consolidated mark sheets (for PG applicants)
- Provisional progress report if you are in your final year of qualifying degree
- CV in English, one to two pages, in reverse chronological order
- English-test score report: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, PTE, or Cambridge English
- GMAT, GRE, CAT, or TAGE MAGE score report (for MiM and MBA only)
- Two professional recommendation letters on company letterhead (for MBA and PhD)
- Statement of purpose (for PhD only)
- Work-experience certificates in English, employer-signed (for MBA and executive programs)
Indian applicants in their final undergraduate year can apply with a provisional progress report, then upload the final degree certificate before enrolment.
EMLYON Business School Acceptance Rate
EMLYON Business School does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. From program-level patterns, admission is competitive. The school holds triple accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA), placing it in the top 1 percent of business schools globally. Demand for the Master in Management and International MBA reliably outstrips seat supply.
How Selective Are EMLYON Business School Programs
The 2024 Master in Management cohort had a graduation rate of 96 percent, suggesting tight filtering at the admission stage. International MBA cohorts are capped at around 60 to 80 seats. Financial Times places it #41 globally and #4 in France in its 2026 ranking band, signalling strong competition at the application stage.
What Improves Your EMLYON Business School Admit Odds
Strong test scores help most: GMAT 650+ for MiM, GMAT Focus 595+ for MBA, IELTS 7.0 across both. For the MBA, three years of well-documented work experience plus a Campus France interview score above 80 percent are typical of admitted Indian profiles. Final-year Bachelor’s applicants do well by attaching academic project portfolios.
Insider note: EMLYON’s digital assessment weighs cognitive consistency and behavioural fit equally with your GMAT. Indian applicants who breeze through technicals but rush video answers often get the dreaded "interview" outcome instead of a direct admit.
France Student Visa Process for EMLYON Business School Indian Students
Indian students admitted to EMLYON Business School need a long-stay student visa (VLS-TS), which doubles as a residence permit during the academic year. Application starts with the Campus France "Etudes en France" procedure, followed by a VFS appointment in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, or Pondicherry.
You must show financial proof of at least €7,380 (around ₹7.90 Lakhs) per year, your EMLYON acceptance letter, valid health insurance, and accommodation evidence. Consular fees are around €99 (around ₹10,597) plus VFS service charges. Most Indian applicants receive a decision in 15 to 30 days. After arrival, you must validate the visa online via the ANEF portal within 3 months of entry, or the residence permit lapses.
2026 update: France now requires online OFII validation through the ANEF portal within 3 months of arrival. The paper OFII stamp is fully phased out, so Indian students must complete digital validation on time to keep the residence permit active.
