What Students Say
Likes
- The diversity- I had people from different countries and different backgrounds which helped me have a global exposure and learn about many cultures.
- Social & Sports- The college has several clubs for social & sports activities which helps students to indulge in extra curricular activities apart from studies.
- Scholarships- The college provided necessary scholarships to students who are eligible based upon their previous academic excellence and experience.
Dislikes
- The structure of the classes and timings is odd. On certain days we have classes till 7:15 PM and on other days we only have classes till 1 PM.
- No parking facilities for the students.
- While the college provides sports classes across various different sports , it doesn't have a arena inside the campus , but only has arenas id different locations in the city.
Course Curriculum
- The classes and subjects were actually great which compliments learning great knowledge in the market on what I want to specialise for. Since the program I chose was in sales , it was more practical and also theoretical based upon the subjects I had from time to time.
- The main positive aspects are that I can learn from a global perspective on how businesses actually work and the main negative aspect is that it's limited to what i'm currently learning in since it's sales domain.
Admission Experience
-
I applied to a total of 5 Business schools in France, out of which in 4 I got selected and one my application was not accepted.
Skema Business School - Rejected
Audencia Business School - Shortlisted
Neoma Business School - Shortlisted
Emlyon Business School - AdmittedThe main reason on why I was rejected in Skema Business school was because I was only looking for a 1 year program and they were not ready to give me a 1 year program because i had less than 4 years of work experience
I have confirmed my admission from Emlyon.
1.) The main reason why I chose this college is because of it's heritage and triple accreditation. It is triple accredited and is one of the top B schools in all of Europe!
2.) They had a specialised course which suited my career aspirations. No B school has a dedicated program for sales excellence apart from Emlyon.
3.) They provided me scholarships based on my academics and my previous work experience. - I have applied for the September 2024 intake for which I started the process around February 2024. The main reasons which pursued me to take this decision is for my better career growth which can help me take over leadership positions.
- The admission process took around 3 to 4 months, starting from the application to the 1st day at the campus. I submitted all the necessary documents regarding my previous academics and work along with my CV, Motivation letter and LOR.
- The first process was a digital interview to assess my skills and fit for the program and i got the result after 1.5 months from the interview date.
- Once i got the admission letter , I had to pay an initial deposit to secure my seat by paying 4200 euros and then started my visa application process which almost took around 3 months to finalise everything.
Class Schedule
- The usual classes are 6 hours per day. But there are also days when we only have 3 hours of classes and there are also a very few days where we had around 9 hours of classes.
- The current strength of my class is just 21 with people coming from 7 different countries.
- There are currently 3 Indian students including me.
Faculty
- The faculty-to-student ratio don't play a huge role here as most of the professors which we have are industry professionals who are in leadership positions who takes time to come and teach us to share their knowledge.
- The teaching methods are good while some are more inclined towards practical learning. It does help me gain some knowledge to secure a job but on a general perspective , Its always upto the student on whether they want to listen and learn more during the lectures.
- The faculty members do help out students in terms of their job / internship search based on thier skills.
- The professor of my Key Account Management course admires me a lot. Her name is Devon and she is great at what she does in terms of teaching us with the necessary knowledge.
Campus Life
-
Our college has a total of 4 campuses around the world.
-Lyon, France Campus
-Paris, France Campus
-Shangai, China Campus
-Mumbai, India Campus - Our campus is new one currently in Lyon, We have a great Library and medical service station. We also do have an auditorium for students along with sports facilities across all sports in and around the campus and also outside the campus.
- We have a dedicated student ambassador group. Each course has it's own ambassadors who helps in promoting the school and the program by participating in many events across the country and by attending interviews. It is also a great learning experience.
Part Time Jobs
- For my kind of masters program, we don't have any such kind of roles which is made available for the students.
- Emlyon doesn't provide any on campus student jobs. But there are other part time jobs which international students can take which can be compensated at 12 euros per hour and with a maximum allowed working limit of 20 hours per week legally.
- An international student can work upto 20 hours per week which is the legally allowed limit.
- It is easy to find a part time student job outside and it is much easier if you understand some basic level french. But there are also English speaking student jobs available.
- Students can earn a minimum of 12 euros per hour. 12 euros is the minimum the government has posed to employers to pay students. It can also go up to 18 euros per hour based upon the work you do. 2.) It is not a difficult task to secure a part time job here in France. Start giving out applications and look out for small restaurants and seek for opportunities personally. 3.) The process is quite simple like a normal job application and once you are good with the interview , you can get a contract to work as a part time student.
Placement
- Students must complete a 6 months internship or a fulltime role in order to be officially graduated from the degree. Especially for the MSC courses. So 100% of the students eventually find an opportunity using the alumni network and graduate from the program.
- Since Emlyon has a great reputation, it provides great opportunities at top companies with an avg starting package of 45,000 to 65,000 EUROS.
- Students can start applying during their final semester by using our job portal dedicated only for emlyon's students and also seek help from our large alumni network for job referrals. We also have career & job fairs where multiple companies participate and hire students.
- I'm still gong through my 2nd semester , myself and my batchmates are currently getting ready to start applying in months , will update soon.
- The major companies which hires from Emlyon are Loreal, LVMH, Alphasights, Porsche, Amazon, Garnier, Sephora, EY, BAT, BNP paribas, Volvo, Renault and many more companies.
Accommodation
- My college helped me find student accommodation at a cheaper price. There are also several other platforms like studapart to get affordable accommodations.
- My monthly rent is 424 euros and i also got a student subsidy from the french government which brought my rent down to 245 euros after a couple months. I had a private studio apartment which was fully furnished with a heater and induction stove , mattress and a study table along with a fridge. It also has a private bathroom.
- Finding an accommodation is not really a challenge in France, You can get a suitable accommodation based on your budget within 1 to 2 months before you start your course.
- My recommendations for students looking for accommodation is that start your search and secure a place before you leave India and seek assistance from your college and apply for CROUS residences and it's from the government and you can get it for cheaper.
- My place is 4 KMS from the campus and Indian students mostly get a private studio from CROUS since it's more effective in terms of price and facilities.

- Out of this, I was eligible for a 15% academic scholarship.

Scholarship
- I received an academic scholarship of 15% which was based on my previous academic excellence and work experience.
- I got a scholarship of around 4200 euros from my 27900 euros fees.
- My classmates received similar scholarships based on their work experience and their motivation letter.
- One of my classmates even got a 35% scholarship which was awarded to her based on her previous profile in terms of academics and work experience.
- People can also expect good scholarships if they apply early and get early bird scholarships and also get scholarships by having good GMAT or GRE scores.
