What Students Say
Likes
- I chose this B-school because first of all it is ranked amongst the top 50 B-schools in the world. Secondly, the curriculum of the program pretty good and covers almost all the essential concepts of data science and business, and lastly it gives you a lot of opportunities to network with industry experts and leaders, which therein helps you a lot during your job search.
- I really liked the up to date and well defined curriculum, the networking opportunities with industry leaders and experts, career fair consisting 500+ companies, international seminar and the international semester.
Dislikes
- The thing that I disliked the most would be the fact that sometimes the management of classes is not done properly and that creates some unnecessary pressure on the students. However, this is getting better by every year passing by.
Required Exams for Admission
Studying at Emlyon Business School was a transformative journey, where I gained invaluable knowledge, fostered lifelong friendships, and experienced a dynamic, supportive data science community. It truly prepared me for a successful future in the business world.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum is very good and tries to cover every major thing in this field. You also get to network with and meet industry experts and leaders in this domain, and solve use cases with different partner companies. You also have an international semester with McGill, which is really good.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio was around 1:10. The faculty is top notch with 100% of them having PHDs and around 70% of them being from top 50 universities in the world. Some professors like Jean Savinien and Ward Al Masri, gave amazing lectures on extremely important mathematical formulations of advance data science topics, and their practical applications in the real world.
Campus Life
The campus is really good with a good library, study rooms etc. They also give you opportunities to indulge yourself into social clubs, events and recreational activities.
Placement
A lot of companies are a partner of the B-school. During my studies we visited or got visited by companies such as Amazon, Bridgestone, Schneider Electric, IBM, etc. There is no such thing as placement in the universities and b schools abroad. So it all depends on how you network, how much you work on building your profile on the basis of the use cases and applications you build, and then how you market yourself. The brand name of the school for sure helps a lot, and even the networking events would. You can expect a median salary of 48k euros after graduating. Also, FYI for my batch ~90% of the students got an internship.
Accommodation
For accommodation there are couple of private student housing available and if you have a better budget then you also rent apartments in the city.
Exams
GRE 325/340 ; Verbal 160/170 and Quant 165/170. However, test scores are not mandatory for admission. I had to submit my SOP, 2 LORs, CV, Bachelor's degree and Test scores. I had 1 admission test and 1 interview which is a recorded one. Both the rounds had a motive to get a better sense of your aptitude, cognitive skills, work experience, and knowledge about the subjects in the program.
Fees
27,900 euros.
Scholarship
Yes I got a 15% scholarship because I had a high GRE score and also because I had applied in the first round of admissions.
