VTUEEE 2026: Counselling Expected June 2026, Eligibility, Syllabus and Scholarship

VTUEEE 2026, the Vel Tech University Engineering Entrance Examination, is conducted by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, for B.Tech admissions across 15+ engineering specialisations for the 2026–27 academic session. All four phases and slots of VTUEEE 2026 have been completed successfully — the last result, for Phase 2 Slot 2, was declared on May 3, 2026 — and candidates who have qualified are now awaiting the official counselling schedule from the university.

• Counselling: VTUEEE 2026 counselling dates have not been officially announced yet. Based on past years, the process is expected to begin in June 2026. Qualified candidates will receive a Call Letter from Vel Tech University on their registered email with the exact date, time, and venue. The counselling is held in offline (in-person) mode at the Vel Tech campus in Chennai.
• Scholarship: The Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship is awarded based on your VTUEEE rank or Class 12 MPC aggregate — whichever gives a higher benefit. VTUEEE state ranks 1–20 earn a 75% tuition fee waiver and ranks 21–500 earn a 50% waiver. Since 2009, Vel Tech has awarded over 9,500 scholarships worth ₹35 crore.
• Seat Blocking: While awaiting the official counselling schedule, candidates can provisionally block their preferred B.Tech branch by paying ₹10,000 through the official admission portal at application.veltech.edu.in. This amount is adjusted against the first semester fee at the time of final enrolment.
• Academic Session 2026–27: The B.Tech 2026–27 session at Vel Tech is expected to begin in July–August 2026. Admissions via JEE Main 2026 scores or Class 12 direct merit (minimum 60% in MPC) are still open for remaining seats across all 15+ specialisations.

What is VTUEEE 2026?

VTUEEE stands for Vel Tech University Engineering Entrance Examination. It is a university-level entrance test conducted by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology — a Deemed-to-be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 — located in Avadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The exam selects candidates for B.Tech admission based on performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology for Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering).

Vel Tech University offers B.Tech in 15+ engineering specialisations. Admission is possible through VTUEEE, through direct admission based on JEE Main scores, or through Class 12 merit (minimum 60% in MPC). However, appearing in VTUEEE is the best route if you want to be considered for the Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship, which can waive up to 75% of your tuition fee based on your exam rank.

VTUEEE 2026 was conducted in two phases — Phase 1 (January and February 2026) and Phase 2 (April 2026) — each with two slots. This multi-phase format gives you multiple attempts in the same academic cycle. Your best score across all phases is used for the final VTUEEE ranking and scholarship calculation. The exam is available in both online (CBT) and offline (pen-and-paper) modes, conducted across 86+ cities in India.

Vel Tech University has secured an NIRF Engineering Rank of 87 (2025). VTUEEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before you appear in VTUEEE or apply for B.Tech admission at Vel Tech University, check whether you meet the eligibility criteria. There are two sets of requirements — one for appearing in VTUEEE, and another for final admission after qualifying.

Eligibility for Appearing in VTUEEE 2026

• You must have passed or be currently appearing in Class 12 (10+2 or equivalent) from any recognised board (CBSE, state boards, ICSE, or equivalent)
• Your Class 12 must include Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects
• For B.Tech Biotechnology or Biomedical Engineering, Biology can replace Mathematics
• Candidates from all Indian states and union territories can apply
• You can appear in multiple phases and slots in the same academic cycle to improve your score

Eligibility for Final B.Tech Admission at Vel Tech (Post-VTUEEE)

• Minimum 60% marks in MPC (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) aggregate in Class 12
• The maximum age limit at the time of admission is 25 years. SC/ST/PWD candidates get a 5-year relaxation (maximum age: 30 years)
• Candidates appearing in Class 12 board exams are eligible to apply — they must submit their final mark sheet at counselling
• You must also meet the 60% MPC threshold to be eligible for the Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship

Lateral Entry Eligibility (Direct Admission to 3rd Semester)

If you want lateral entry into the 3rd semester of B.Tech, you need one of the following qualifications:

• A Diploma in Engineering from the Tamil Nadu State Board of Technical Education or an equivalent recognised body; or
• A B.Sc. degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognised university

Even if you score a very high rank in VTUEEE, your admission will be cancelled if you do not meet the minimum 60% MPC aggregate in Class 12. Make sure you meet this requirement before your counselling date.

VTUEEE 2026 Application Process

The VTUEEE 2026 application window is now closed. Applications for all four phases were accepted from October 2025 onwards. The last registration deadline was April 15, 2026 for Phase 2 Slot 2. How to Apply for VTUEEE (Online)

• Step 1: Visit the official application portal: application.veltech.edu.in/engineering-form
• Step 2: Click ’New Registration’ and create your login using a valid mobile number and email ID
• Step 3: Fill in your personal details (name, date of birth, address), academic details (Class 12 board, subjects, marks), and choose the exam phase/slot you want to appear in
• Step 4: Select up to four preferred exam cities from the list of 86+ available centres across India
• Step 5: Upload your recent passport-size photograph (max 100 KB, 200×230 pixels) and signature (max 100 KB, 140×60 pixels) in the required format
• Step 6: Pay the application fee of ₹950 using net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI
• Step 7: Submit the form and download your application confirmation receipt for future reference

NCERT textbooks for Class 11 and 12 are the best starting point for VTUEEE preparation. The questions are mostly concept-based and follow standard board-level difficulty. You should cover the full syllabus rather than selectively studying a few topics.

For B.Tech Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, Biology (Botany and Zoology — Class 11 and 12 NCERT) replaces Mathematics in the third section of the VTUEEE question paper.

VTUEEE 2026 Admit Card

The VTUEEE 2026 admit card (hall ticket) was released separately for each phase and slot, a few days before the respective exam date. Candidates had to download it from the official candidate portal. The hall ticket is a mandatory document — exam centre authorities do not allow candidates inside without it.

• Log in using your application number and date of birth
• Click on ’Download Admit Card’ for the relevant phase/slot
• Check all details carefully — name, photograph, exam centre, date, and reporting time

VTUEEE 2026 Scholarship: Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship

The Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship is Vel Tech University’s flagship financial aid programme. Started in 2009 by the university’s founder, the programme has distributed more than 9,500 scholarships worth over ₹35 crore to deserving students across India. You can qualify in two ways — either based on your VTUEEE 2026 rank or based on your Class 12 MPC aggregate. The university gives you the higher of the two scholarship amounts.

The home state for scholarship purposes is the state or union territory where you appeared for your Class 12 examination, not your domicile state. The scholarship is applied to your annual tuition fee each year for the full four-year B.Tech duration, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

You must have at least 60% in MPC in Class 12 to be eligible for the Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship. Students below this threshold are not considered for any scholarship tier, regardless of their VTUEEE rank.

VTUEEE 2026 Exam Centers

VTUEEE 2026 was conducted in more than 86 cities across India, making it one of the most accessible private university entrance exams in the country. The exam is available in both CBT (online) and PBT (pen-and-paper) modes. When filling the application form, you get to choose up to four preferred exam cities. The university then assigns one city based on your preferences and available capacity.

Once an exam city is assigned to you, it cannot be changed. Choose your preferred cities carefully while filling the application form.

How to Prepare for VTUEEE

VTUEEE has a moderate difficulty level and is based entirely on the standard Class 11 and 12 board syllabus. If you have a strong NCERT foundation, you can score well in VTUEEE without advanced coaching. Here are practical preparation strategies based on the exam’s pattern and difficulty level:

1. Build Your Foundation with NCERT

The entire VTUEEE syllabus is mapped to NCERT Class 11 and 12 content. Start by reading your NCERT textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics thoroughly. Most VTUEEE questions can be answered directly from NCERT concepts, especially in Chemistry and core Physics topics.

2. Focus on High-Weightage Topics

• Physics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, Mechanics (Work, Energy and Power), and Modern Physics are important and frequently tested
• Chemistry: Organic Chemistry (Hydrocarbons, Biomolecules, Polymers), Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, and Block Elements carry significant weight
• Mathematics: Integral Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vector Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, and Probability are consistently important

3. Practice with Mock Tests and Previous Year Papers

Solve VTUEEE previous year question papers and take full-length mock tests regularly. This helps you understand the question style, identify weak areas, and improve time management. Aim for at least one full mock test per week in the two months before the exam.

4. Follow a Balanced Study Schedule

Divide your preparation time equally across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each section carries exactly 120 marks out of 360, so there is no benefit in spending more time on one subject at the cost of another. Create a weekly timetable and stick to it.

5. Manage Negative Marking Smartly

Each wrong answer costs you 1 mark in VTUEEE. Attempt a question only when you are reasonably confident. Skip questions you are unsure about rather than losing marks through guesswork. In the final 15–20 minutes, review skipped questions and attempt any you can now answer with more confidence.

6. Use the Multi-Phase Structure Strategically

VTUEEE 2026 had four slots. If you are not satisfied with your Phase 1 score, you could appear again in Phase 2. Use the time between phases to revise weak areas. Many candidates improve their rank significantly between Phase 1 and Phase 2, moving into higher scholarship tiers by scoring better in the second attempt.
