TG PECET 2026: Rank Card Out, Counselling Expected July, Eligibility and Cutoff

TG PECET 2026 (Telangana State Physical Education Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance test conducted by Satavahana University on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) for admission into 2-year B.P.Ed and U.G.D.P.Ed programmes offered by universities and affiliated colleges across Telangana. • Rank Card: TG PECET 2026 rank card is now available on the official website pecet.tgche.ac.in. You can download it using your hall ticket number and date of birth. The rank card shows your marks in the Physical Efficiency Test, Skill Test, total score, overall rank, and qualifying status.
• Counselling Registration: TG PECET 2026 counselling registration is expected to begin in July 2026. In 2025, Phase 1 counselling opened in July 2025. You must pay a counselling registration fee of Rs. 800 (General/BC) or Rs. 400 (SC/ST) to participate.
• Phase 1 Seat Allotment: Phase 1 seat allotment is expected in August 2026. In 2025, Phase 1 allotment was released on August 4, 2025. A total of 1,860 seats across 18 colleges are available through TG PECET 2026.

What is TG PECET 2026?

TG PECET stands for Telangana State Physical Education Common Entrance Test. TSCHE (Telangana State Council of Higher Education) conducts this entrance test every year to fill seats in B.P.Ed (Bachelor of Physical Education) and U.G.D.P.Ed (Under Graduate Diploma in Physical Education) programmes. Both courses are 2 years long. Admission to all participating colleges across Telangana is done through TG PECET rank alone.

Unlike most competitive exams, TG PECET is not a written paper. It is a physical fitness and skills test. Candidates perform standardised athletic events in front of assessors, and their performance is converted into marks using official norms approved by the TG PECET Committee. Candidates also demonstrate skill in one sport of their choice. This practical format directly tests the abilities a physical education teacher should have.

Each year, TSCHE assigns a different university as the convener to organise and conduct the test. For TG PECET 2026, Satavahana University, Karimnagar, conducted the test at its campus. In 2025, Palamuru University was the convener. The convener university changes on a rotation basis, but the test format and the conducting authority (TSCHE) remain the same.

This year, 3,305 candidates — 1,986 male and 1,319 female — appeared for TG PECET 2026. The tests were held over four days, starting at 6:30 AM each morning. Male candidates appeared on May 31 and June 1, while female candidates appeared on June 2 and 3. The single venue this year was Satavahana University itself.

B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed graduates can work as physical education teachers in government and private schools. Government PE teacher recruitment in Telangana is done through TS DSC and TS TET. You must arrange all documents listed below before the counselling process begins. Keep both originals and self-attested photocopies ready. Document verification is mandatory — candidates who fail to submit required certificates will not be allowed to proceed with the counselling.

Study certificates are the most commonly rejected documents during TG PECET counselling. Make sure your study certificates cover at least 4 consecutive years of education in Telangana. Seat Reservation Policy in TG PECET 2026

Seat reservation follows the Government of Telangana norms. The 1,860 seats are divided between local and non-local candidates first, and then within each category.

• 85% seats: Reserved for local candidates (those who studied in Telangana for a minimum of 4 consecutive years, including the qualifying exam)
• 15% seats: Open to non-local candidates, including eligible candidates from Andhra Pradesh
• Within reserved seats — BC (Backward Classes): 29% (BC-A: 7%, BC-B: 10%, BC-C: 1%, BC-D: 7%, BC-E: 4%)
• SC (Scheduled Caste): 15%
• ST (Scheduled Tribe): 6%
• EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 10% carved out of the Open Category (OC) pool
• PH (Physically Handicapped / Divyangjan): 3% horizontal reservation across all categories
• Women: 1/3 of seats within each category are reserved for women candidates

TG PECET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for TG PECET, you must make sure you meet the eligibility conditions set by TSCHE. The eligibility criteria are different for B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed. Check your course carefully before applying.

Eligibility for B.P.Ed — Bachelor of Physical Education (2 Years)

• You must have passed or be appearing in the final year of a 3-year degree course from any recognised university in Telangana, or a university recognised as equivalent by UGC.
• Your minimum age must be 19 years as on July 1, 2026.
• There is no upper age limit for general/OC candidates.
• If you are in your final year of graduation and yet to get results, you must submit your degree pass certificate at the time of counselling. Provisional admission may be given, but the degree must be completed before admission is confirmed.

Eligibility for U.G.D.P.Ed — Under Graduate Diploma in Physical Education (2 Years)

• You must have passed or be appearing in Intermediate (Class 12) or an equivalent exam recognised by the Government of Telangana.
• Your minimum age must be 16 years as on July 1, 2026.
• Candidates in their Intermediate final year may also apply, provided they submit the pass certificate at the time of counselling.

Other Eligibility Conditions

• You must be a citizen of India.
• Candidates from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are eligible to apply. However, candidates compete for local or non-local seats based on their study location.
• You must be physically fit to perform the Physical Efficiency Test events and Skill Test. Candidates with serious health conditions, injuries, or medical restrictions are advised not to appear, as all tests are physically demanding.
• There is no specific height or weight requirement, but general physical fitness is essential.

If your qualifying exam results are pending at the time of application, you can still apply. But you must produce the final pass certificate and marks memo at the time of counselling. Without the original certificate, your admission will not be confirmed.

TG PECET 2026 Application Process and Fee

Steps to Fill the TG PECET Application Form

1. Visit the official website at pecet.tgche.ac.in
2. Click on the "TG PECET 2026 Application Form" link on the homepage.
3. Register with basic details (name, mobile number, email) to create a login.
4. Log in and fill in your personal, educational, and contact details in the application form.
5. Choose your sport for the Skill Test — this choice is final and cannot be changed later at any stage, including at the exam centre.
6. Choose either Long Jump or High Jump for the jump event in the Physical Efficiency Test — this is also a final choice made during registration.
7. Upload required documents (photograph, signature, and other certificates) in the prescribed format and file size.
8. Pay the application fee through TS Online service centres, debit card, credit card, or net banking.
9. Submit the completed form and download the application confirmation page.

The sport you select for the Skill Test is locked at registration. Changing your sport at the exam venue is strictly not allowed. Choose wisely — pick the sport you are most confident in.

The application fee, once paid, is non-refundable. Payment options include TS Online centres (available across Telangana), debit card, credit card, or internet banking.

TG PECET 2026 Syllabus and Physical Efficiency Norms

TG PECET 2026 does not have a traditional written syllabus. The test evaluates your physical fitness and sports skill directly. Your performance in each PET event is measured against official conversion norms approved by the TG PECET Committee, and these norms are used to convert your timing, distance, or height into marks out of 100.

TG PECET 2026 Admit Card

The TG PECET 2026 hall ticket (admit card) was released on May 22, 2026. Candidates who registered successfully were able to download it from pecet.tgche.ac.in using their registration number and date of birth. Since the exam has been completed, this section serves as a reference for understanding what was required.

Candidates had to carry the printed hall ticket to the exam venue along with a valid government-issued photo ID. No candidate was allowed to appear for the test without the hall ticket. The exam venue — Satavahana University, Karimnagar — required candidates to report by 6:30 AM each day.

Colleges Accepting TG PECET 2026

TG PECET 2026 rank is used for admission into B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed programmes at 18 colleges across Telangana — 15 colleges for B.P.Ed and 3 colleges for D.P.Ed. These include government colleges, private aided colleges, and private unaided (self-financed) colleges affiliated with universities in Telangana.

Annual Fee Structure by College Type

Government and aided college seats are significantly cheaper. Competition for these seats is much higher. Candidates with better TG PECET ranks get first pick of government colleges during web options entry.

The universities under which TG PECET-affiliated colleges operate include Satavahana University, Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Palamuru University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, and other Telangana State universities. SC, ST, BC, and EWS candidates may also be eligible for fee reimbursement under the Government of Telangana’s scholarship and fee reimbursement schemes for government and aided college seats.

Preparation Tips for TG PECET

If you are planning to appear for TG PECET 2027, your preparation starts now. Since there is no written paper, your entire focus should be on physical fitness and sport skill. Here are practical, event-wise tips to help you score high in TG PECET.

100 Metres Sprint

• Work on your start reaction time — most marks are decided in the first 30 metres of the sprint.
• Practice explosive starts from the ready position. A fast, low drive phase in the first 10 metres gives you a big advantage.
• Focus on arm mechanics — keep your arms at 90 degrees and drive them forcefully forward and back.
• Track your timing every week and compare it against the official conversion norms in the TG PECET brochure.

Shot Put (6 Kg for Men / 4 Kg for Women)

• Spend at least 3-4 months learning and perfecting the rotational throwing technique. This technique gives the maximum distance compared to the glide technique for most candidates.
• Build shoulder, chest, and core strength through gym training — bench press, overhead press, and core rotations will directly improve your throw.
• Practice regularly with the correct weight — 6 kg for men and 4 kg for women. Do not train with a different weight, as this can affect your rhythm.

800 Metres Run (Men) / 400 Metres Run (Women)

• Build your aerobic base with consistent long-distance running 4-5 days a week for 2-3 months.
• Then shift to interval training — alternate fast and slow laps to improve your race pace and endurance.
• Practice your pacing strategy. Going out too fast in the first 200 metres will cost you significantly in the second half.
• Time yourself every week and compare against the official norms to understand how many marks you will get.

Long Jump / High Jump

• Choose the jump event you are better at before registration. Once chosen, you cannot switch.
• For Long Jump: work on your approach run speed and take-off technique. A fast, controlled approach leading to a powerful take-off is the key to a good distance.
• For High Jump: the Fosbury Flop technique is recommended. Practice the curved approach, plant your foot correctly, and work on your arch over the bar.

Skill Test in Games

• Choose the sport where you have the most practice and confidence. Do not pick a sport you think is easier but have little experience in.
• Understand the specific skills being assessed in your chosen sport — e.g., for Basketball, it may be dribbling, passing, and shooting; for Volleyball, it may be serving, setting, and spiking.
• Play regular practice matches and work with an experienced coach to improve technique and game sense.

General Preparation Tips

• Start your intensive physical training at least 4-6 months before the expected exam dates (usually May-June).
