What is TG PECET 2026?

TG PECET stands for Telangana State Physical Education Common Entrance Test. TSCHE (Telangana State Council of Higher Education) conducts this entrance test every year to fill seats in B.P.Ed (Bachelor of Physical Education) and U.G.D.P.Ed (Under Graduate Diploma in Physical Education) programmes. Both courses are 2 years long. Admission to all participating colleges across Telangana is done through TG PECET rank alone.

Unlike most competitive exams, TG PECET is not a written paper. It is a physical fitness and skills test. Candidates perform standardised athletic events in front of assessors, and their performance is converted into marks using official norms approved by the TG PECET Committee. Candidates also demonstrate skill in one sport of their choice. This practical format directly tests the abilities a physical education teacher should have.

Each year, TSCHE assigns a different university as the convener to organise and conduct the test. For TG PECET 2026, Satavahana University, Karimnagar, conducted the test at its campus. In 2025, Palamuru University was the convener. The convener university changes on a rotation basis, but the test format and the conducting authority (TSCHE) remain the same.

This year, 3,305 candidates — 1,986 male and 1,319 female — appeared for TG PECET 2026. The tests were held over four days, starting at 6:30 AM each morning. Male candidates appeared on May 31 and June 1, while female candidates appeared on June 2 and 3. The single venue this year was Satavahana University itself.

B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed graduates can work as physical education teachers in government and private schools. Government PE teacher recruitment in Telangana is done through TS DSC and TS TET. Completing B.P.Ed makes you eligible to appear for these tests. With the focus on sports and physical education in schools growing each year, demand for qualified PE teachers continues to rise.

TG PECET 2026 Qualifying Marks

To be assigned a rank and become eligible for TG PECET 2026 counselling, you must secure the minimum qualifying marks. The qualifying marks apply to your combined score in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Skill Test — a total of 500 marks. Incentive marks are not counted for the qualifying threshold but are added to the final rank score.

Category Minimum Qualifying Percentage Minimum Marks (Out of 500)
General (OC) / OBC / BC 30% aggregate 150 marks
SC (Scheduled Caste) No minimum required
ST (Scheduled Tribe) No minimum required

SC and ST candidates who appear for the test are allotted ranks regardless of the score they secure. All other candidates — General, OBC, and BC — must score at least 150 marks out of 500 to qualify.

After meeting the qualifying marks threshold, the final rank is determined by the total of PET marks + Skill Test marks + incentive marks. If two candidates get the same total marks, a tie-breaker rule is applied based on performance in individual events as specified in the official brochure.

Only qualified candidates with a valid rank card can participate in TG PECET 2026 counselling. Non-qualifying candidates (General/BC scoring below 150) will not be assigned a rank and will not be eligible for seat allotment.

TG PECET 2026 Counselling Process

TG PECET 2026 counselling is conducted in online mode at the counselling portal pecetadm.tgche.ac.in. Counselling is expected to begin in July 2026, based on last year’s pattern. The process takes place in two phases. You must participate in Phase 1 first, and then you can choose to participate in Phase 2 if you want a better college or course.

Seat allotment is based on your TG PECET rank, category, gender, local/non-local status, and the web options (college and course preferences) you submit. Candidates with better ranks get preference in seat allotment.

Step-by-Step TG PECET 2026 Counselling Process

  1. Counselling Registration: Visit pecetadm.tgche.ac.in and register using your TG PECET 2026 hall ticket number and rank. Create your login and fill in personal details.
  2. Counselling Fee Payment: Pay the counselling registration fee online. The fee is non-refundable. See the fee table below.
  3. Document Verification: Upload scanned copies of all required original documents through the portal. Alternatively, visit a designated Help Line Centre (HLC) for offline document verification. This step is mandatory — you cannot proceed to web options without completing it.
  4. Web Options Entry (Choice Filling): Log in and enter your preferred colleges and courses in order of priority. You can add as many options as possible. The more options you fill, the better your chance of getting a seat. Save and lock your choices before the deadline — choices cannot be changed after locking.
  5. Seat Allotment Result: The authorities release the Phase 1 allotment result online. Log in to check your allotted college and course.
  6. Reporting to Allotted College: Download your allotment letter, pay the college admission fee, and report to the allotted college within the specified dates with all original documents.
  7. Phase 2 (if needed): If you are not satisfied with your Phase 1 allotment or did not get a seat, participate in Phase 2 by filling fresh web options within the Phase 2 window.

You must fill fresh web options for each counselling phase. Choices from Phase 1 do not carry forward to Phase 2. If you are happy with your Phase 1 seat, you can skip Phase 2 — but do not participate in Phase 2 unless you are willing to lose your Phase 1 allotment.

Part 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 400 Marks

The PET has four compulsory events. Each event carries 100 marks. The events differ slightly for male and female candidates.

Event Male Candidates Female Candidates Marks

The jump event choice (Long Jump or High Jump) must be made at the time of registration. It cannot be changed at the exam venue.

Part 2: Skill Test in Games — 100 Marks

You must choose one sport during the application process. At the exam centre, you will be tested on your skill in that sport. The sport choice is final once locked during registration.

The 11 sports available for the TG PECET 2026 Skill Test are:

  • Ball Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Handball
  • Hockey
  • Kabaddi

Total Marks Summary

Component Maximum Marks
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 4 Events 400
Skill Test in Games — 1 Sport 100
Total (without incentive marks) 500

Incentive Marks in TG PECET 2026

Candidates who have represented at the national or international level in sports, or have NCC/NSS achievements, can claim incentive marks. These marks are added on top of the 500-mark total before the final rank is computed. The specific incentive marks for each category of achievement are defined in the official TG PECET notification and brochure.

  • Incentive marks are not counted toward the qualifying marks threshold (150 marks). Only PET + Skill Test marks count for qualifying.
  • Once you qualify, incentive marks are added to your total for final rank calculation.
  • You must submit relevant certificates as proof during the application and counselling process to claim incentive marks.

TG PECET 2026 Syllabus and Physical Efficiency Norms

TG PECET 2026 does not have a traditional written syllabus. The test evaluates your physical fitness and sports skill directly. Your performance in each PET event is measured against official conversion norms approved by the TG PECET Committee, and these norms are used to convert your timing, distance, or height into marks out of 100.

The table below summarises what each event tests and where you should focus your training:

Event Physical Quality Tested Key Training Focus
100 Metres Run Speed and explosive reaction Sprint training, starting block technique, arm drive
Shot Put (6 Kg / 4 Kg) Arm and shoulder strength, throwing power Rotational throwing technique, core and upper-body strength
800 Metres Run (Men) / 400 Metres Run (Women) Stamina and aerobic endurance Distance running, interval training, pace control
Long Jump Explosive leg power and coordination Approach run speed, take-off angle, landing technique
High Jump Vertical leap and body flexibility Fosbury Flop technique, bar clearance drills
Skill Test in Games Sport-specific skills and game awareness Drills and match practice in your chosen sport

The official conversion tables for each PET event — showing how many marks you get for specific timings, distances, or heights — are published in the TG PECET official brochure. You can download the official brochure from pecet.tgche.ac.in. Every serious candidate must study these tables to understand the marks they need to target in each event.

For the Skill Test, the scoring criteria depend on the specific sport you choose. The examiners evaluate you on technique, skills, and game-related abilities. Specific Skill Test evaluation sheets and criteria are also part of the official TG PECET brochure.

TG PECET 2026 Admit Card

The TG PECET 2026 hall ticket (admit card) was released on May 22, 2026. Candidates who registered successfully were able to download it from pecet.tgche.ac.in using their registration number and date of birth. Since the exam has been completed, this section serves as a reference for understanding what was required.

Details on TG PECET 2026 Hall Ticket

  • Candidate’s name and recent photograph
  • Application / registration number and hall ticket number
  • Date, time, and venue of the physical tests
  • Category (OC/BC/SC/ST) and sport selected for the Skill Test
  • Jump event chosen (Long Jump or High Jump)
  • Important instructions for reporting to the exam venue

Candidates had to carry the printed hall ticket to the exam venue along with a valid government-issued photo ID. No candidate was allowed to appear for the test without the hall ticket. The exam venue — Satavahana University, Karimnagar — required candidates to report by 6:30 AM each day.

For TG PECET 2027, the hall ticket is expected to be released approximately 7–10 days before the exam dates. Watch the official website for updates when the next cycle begins.

Colleges Accepting TG PECET 2026

TG PECET 2026 rank is used for admission into B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed programmes at 18 colleges across Telangana — 15 colleges for B.P.Ed and 3 colleges for D.P.Ed. These include government colleges, private aided colleges, and private unaided (self-financed) colleges affiliated with universities in Telangana.

Annual Fee Structure by College Type

College Type B.P.Ed Annual Fee (Approx.) D.P.Ed Annual Fee (Approx.)
Government Colleges Rs. 3,000 – Rs. 3,800 Rs. 2,000 – Rs. 3,000
Private Aided Colleges Rs. 3,000 – Rs. 3,800 Rs. 2,500 – Rs. 4,000
Private Unaided / Self-Financed Colleges Rs. 13,500 – Rs. 17,000 Rs. 12,000 – Rs. 15,500

Government and aided college seats are significantly cheaper. Competition for these seats is much higher. Candidates with better TG PECET ranks get first pick of government colleges during web options entry.

The universities under which TG PECET-affiliated colleges operate include Satavahana University, Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Palamuru University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, and other Telangana State universities. The detailed and final list of colleges — with university affiliation, total seats, and category-wise seat matrix — is released by TSCHE at the start of the counselling process.

You can find the complete college list at pecet.tgche.ac.in once counselling begins. Candidates are advised to research the college location, facilities, and faculty before filling web options.

SC, ST, BC, and EWS candidates may also be eligible for fee reimbursement under the Government of Telangana’s scholarship and fee reimbursement schemes for government and aided college seats.

Preparation Tips for TG PECET

If you are planning to appear for TG PECET 2027, your preparation starts now. Since there is no written paper, your entire focus should be on physical fitness and sport skill. Here are practical, event-wise tips to help you score high in TG PECET.

100 Metres Sprint

  • Work on your start reaction time — most marks are decided in the first 30 metres of the sprint.
  • Practice explosive starts from the ready position. A fast, low drive phase in the first 10 metres gives you a big advantage.
  • Focus on arm mechanics — keep your arms at 90 degrees and drive them forcefully forward and back.
  • Track your timing every week and compare it against the official conversion norms in the TG PECET brochure.

Shot Put (6 Kg for Men / 4 Kg for Women)

  • Spend at least 3-4 months learning and perfecting the rotational throwing technique. This technique gives the maximum distance compared to the glide technique for most candidates.
  • Build shoulder, chest, and core strength through gym training — bench press, overhead press, and core rotations will directly improve your throw.
  • Practice regularly with the correct weight — 6 kg for men and 4 kg for women. Do not train with a different weight, as this can affect your rhythm.

800 Metres Run (Men) / 400 Metres Run (Women)

  • Build your aerobic base with consistent long-distance running 4-5 days a week for 2-3 months.
  • Then shift to interval training — alternate fast and slow laps to improve your race pace and endurance.
  • Practice your pacing strategy. Going out too fast in the first 200 metres will cost you significantly in the second half.
  • Time yourself every week and compare against the official norms to understand how many marks you will get.

Long Jump / High Jump

  • Choose the jump event you are better at before registration. Once chosen, you cannot switch.
  • For Long Jump: work on your approach run speed and take-off technique. A fast, controlled approach leading to a powerful take-off is the key to a good distance.
  • For High Jump: the Fosbury Flop technique is recommended. Practice the curved approach, plant your foot correctly, and work on your arch over the bar.

Skill Test in Games

  • Choose the sport where you have the most practice and confidence. Do not pick a sport you think is easier but have little experience in.
  • Understand the specific skills being assessed in your chosen sport — e.g., for Basketball, it may be dribbling, passing, and shooting; for Volleyball, it may be serving, setting, and spiking.
  • Play regular practice matches and work with an experienced coach to improve technique and game sense.

General Preparation Tips

  • Download the official TG PECET brochure and study the conversion tables carefully. Know the exact performance you need for each marks bracket in each event.
  • Start your intensive physical training at least 4-6 months before the expected exam dates (usually May-June).
  • Maintain a balanced diet rich in protein and carbohydrates. Stay hydrated throughout training.
  • Take at least one full rest day per week to allow your body to recover.
  • Taper your training in the 2-3 weeks before the exam — reduce intensity while maintaining frequency.
  • Get a complete medical check-up before your training starts. This helps you identify any underlying conditions that might affect your performance.
