What is SAEEE 2026?

SAEEE stands for Sathyabhama All India Entrance Exam. Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology conducts it every year — twice — as the mandatory gateway for Indian students seeking B.E., B.Tech, and B.Arch admission at its Chennai and Sriperumbudur campuses. The exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. There is no negative marking, and it follows the NCERT Class 11–12 syllabus.

Sathyabama is a Deemed to be University recognised by NAAC with an A++ grade. It is approved by UGC and AICTE and holds a strong NIRF ranking in the engineering category. The university is known for research in aerospace, biotechnology, and electronics, and has active industry tie-ups for campus placements. More than 3,000 B.Tech seats are available across 25 programs at two campuses — making SAEEE the sole route to admission for most engineering aspirants who want to study at Sathyabama.

SAEEE 2026 is conducted in two phases. Phase I was held on May 2–3, 2026, and the Phase I Rank List has been declared. Phase II registration is currently open and closes on June 6, 2026. Students who appear in both phases can use the better of their two ranks for admission.

If you are applying for B.Tech / B.E. programs, you should choose Mathematics as your third section. If you are applying for Biotechnology or Biomedical Engineering and are stronger in Biology, you can choose Biology instead. You must decide this at the time of registration — you cannot change the section during the exam.

Since there is no negative marking in SAEEE 2026, attempt all 60 questions without hesitation. An unanswered question guarantees 0; a reasonable guess gives you a chance at 1 mark.

Time Management in SAEEE 2026

You get exactly 1 minute per question. The questions follow the NCERT difficulty level, so most should not take more than 40–50 seconds. Do not spend more than 90 seconds on any one question. If stuck, flag it and move on — revisit flagged questions in the final 10 minutes. The online interface allows you to mark questions for review and return to them later within the session.

  • Enter your registered email ID and password
  • Your rank card and assigned counselling date will be displayed
  • Download your rank card and note the counselling date — this is when you need to appear (or join online) for branch and campus selection

What is in the SAEEE 2026 Rank Card?

Your rank card shows your total marks scored in all three sections, subject-wise marks breakdown, your overall SAEEE rank, and your counselling date. The rank is based purely on total score. In case of a tie in marks, Sathyabama uses tie-breaking norms — typically based on the candidate’s age (older candidate gets priority) or performance in specific sections — to assign unique ranks.

SAEEE 2026 Phase II Result

The Phase II exam date has not been announced yet. Once Phase II is conducted, the result and rank list will be declared on the official website within 2–3 weeks of the exam. Based on the 2025 cycle, Phase II results are expected in June or July 2026. Candidates who appear in both Phase I and Phase II can use the better of their two ranks for counselling and admission.

If you appeared in Phase I and are not satisfied with your rank, you can still apply for Phase II (deadline: June 6, 2026) and attempt again. The better rank from either phase is considered for admission — appearing in Phase II does not void your Phase I rank.

SAEEE 2026 Rank vs Score Relationship

Since the total marks in SAEEE is only 60, ranks are sensitive to even 1–2 marks. A score of 55 or above typically places you in the top 500 ranks. A score between 45–54 usually falls in the rank range of 500 to 5,000. Students scoring below 35 may find it harder to secure top CSE or IT programs but can still get admission to other branches based on seat availability.

SAEEE 2026 Expected Cutoff

The SAEEE cutoff is the minimum rank or score needed to get admission to a specific B.Tech branch at Sathyabama through counselling. The official branch-wise closing ranks are published after counselling rounds conclude. The expected figures below are based on previous year trends and score analysis.

SAEEE 2026 Expected Score-Based Cutoff (Branch-Wise)

ProgramExpected Score (out of 60)Expected Rank Range
CSE (General)50 – 581 – 3,500
CSE (AI & ML)48 – 571 – 4,000
CSE (Data Science)47 – 561 – 4,500
CSE (Cybersecurity / Cloud / IoT)46 – 552,000 – 6,000
Information Technology (IT)46 – 552,000 – 6,500
Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)42 – 523,000 – 9,000
Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)38 – 485,000 – 12,000
Mechanical Engineering35 – 466,000 – 14,000
Aeronautical Engineering38 – 504,000 – 11,000
Civil Engineering32 – 447,000 – 16,000
Biotechnology / Biomedical Engineering35 – 485,000 – 13,000
Chemical Engineering33 – 456,500 – 14,000

Note: The cutoff figures above are indicative estimates based on previous year trends. Official branch-wise closing ranks will be published by Sathyabama after counselling concludes. SC and ST candidates typically have relaxed cutoff norms under government reservation policy.

Factors That Affect SAEEE 2026 Cutoff

  • Number of Applicants: A higher number of applicants means more competition, which pushes cutoff scores upward — especially for popular programs like CSE.
  • Seat Availability: Each branch has a fixed seat intake. CSE always has the lowest closing rank (highest competition) because it has the most applicants relative to seat count. Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering typically have higher closing ranks (less competition).
  • Exam Difficulty: If the paper is harder overall, aggregate scores are lower, and the cutoff drops. A relatively easy paper pushes the cutoff score higher.
  • Reservation Impact: SC, ST, and EWS candidates need a lower rank to secure the same branch because separate seats are reserved for them.
  • Phase I vs Phase II: Both phase rank lists are merged for the final counselling. More candidates in Phase II can affect the final closing ranks for Phase II counselling rounds.

SAEEE 2026 Counselling Process

SAEEE 2026 counselling is conducted by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. Phase I counselling dates have been announced with the rank list — check your schedule by logging into the official portal. Phase II counselling will follow after Phase II results are declared, and final seat allotment for all candidates is expected in the 2nd week of July 2026.

Step-by-Step SAEEE 2026 Counselling Process

  • Step 1 — Check Your Rank and Counselling Date: Log in to the official fee portal at saeee2026.sathyabama.ac.in. Your rank and the date and time of your counselling appointment will be shown on your rank card dashboard.
  • Step 2 — Report for Counselling: Attend counselling on your assigned date. Counselling may be conducted at the Sathyabama Chennai campus or in a hybrid online-offline format — confirm the mode announced with your rank card.
  • Step 3 — Select Branch and Campus: Based on your rank and the seats still available at the time of your counselling slot, choose your preferred program (e.g., CSE, ECE, Mechanical) and campus (Chennai or Sriperumbudur). Higher-ranked candidates get first pick. Seats fill up fast for CSE and IT programs.
  • Step 4 — Document Verification: Submit your original documents for verification by Sathyabama staff. Any discrepancy in documents can result in cancellation of your seat.
  • Step 5 — Pay Admission Fee: After document verification, pay the admission fee to confirm and lock your seat. Among candidates on the same counselling day, seats are allotted on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • Step 6 — Receive Allotment Letter: After fee payment, you will receive an allotment letter confirming your branch, campus, and admission status. This is your official offer of admission.

Documents Required for SAEEE 2026 Counselling

  • SAEEE 2026 Rank Card (printed from official portal)
  • Class 10 Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate (original + 2 photocopies)
  • Class 12 Mark Sheet (original + 2 photocopies) — or Provisional Certificate if results are pending
  • School Leaving Certificate / Transfer Certificate
  • Category Certificate (SC / ST / OBC / EWS) — if applicable, from a competent government authority
  • Aadhaar Card (original + 2 photocopies)

Preparation Tips for SAEEE 2026

SAEEE 2026 is based on Class 11 and 12 NCERT concepts. The exam is not as demanding as JEE Main, but you still need focused and systematic preparation — especially if you are targeting Phase II in June/July 2026. The good news is that the same preparation you do for your Class 12 board exams and JEE Main or state-level engineering exams will cover most of the SAEEE syllabus.

1. NCERT Textbooks Are the Foundation

The SAEEE question paper closely follows NCERT. Start with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology) NCERT textbooks for Class 11 and 12. Read each chapter thoroughly, solve all in-chapter and end-of-chapter exercises, and understand the concepts rather than memorising answers. A large proportion of SAEEE questions can be solved directly from NCERT without needing any additional reference material.

2. Prioritise High-Weightage Topics

  • Physics: Mechanics (Kinematics and Newton’s Laws), Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, and Modern Physics (Atoms, Nuclei, Electronic Devices) are frequently tested. These topics together account for 60–70% of Physics questions.
  • Chemistry: Organic Chemistry (reactions, mechanisms, named reactions), Electrochemistry, Chemical Thermodynamics, and p-Block Elements carry significant weight. Inorganic Chemistry is highly factual — practise it through short flashcard-style revision.
  • Mathematics: Calculus (Differentiation, Integration, and Differential Equations), Coordinate Geometry, Vector Algebra, Probability, and Trigonometry are the most important topics. These typically account for 70–80% of the Mathematics section in SAEEE.

3. Attempt All Questions — No Negative Marking

SAEEE has no negative marking. This changes your test-taking strategy significantly. You should answer every question — including ones you are unsure about. Use the process of elimination: if you can confidently rule out 2 of the 4 options, your chance of getting the right answer goes from 25% to 50%. Never leave a question blank in SAEEE.

4. Build Speed with Full-Length Mock Tests

You get only 60 minutes for 60 questions. This sounds comfortable — 1 minute per question — but slow reading or second-guessing can eat your time quickly. Practise full-length mock tests in timed conditions starting at least 4–6 weeks before the exam. Use CBT-mode simulators to get comfortable with the online interface, the question navigation panel, and the flagging and review system. Aim to finish the paper in 50 minutes and use the last 10 minutes for review.

5. Revise Formulas and Reactions Systematically

Maintain a personal formula sheet that you update as you study each topic. For Physics, include all motion equations, energy formulas, circuit laws, and optics formulas. For Mathematics, include integration formulas, trigonometric identities, and coordinate geometry standard forms. For Chemistry, write out key organic reactions, named reactions, and chemical equations in a separate notebook. Revise this formula sheet every day in the final 2–3 weeks before the exam.

6. Use Previous Year Papers for Pattern Familiarity

SAEEE does not publish an official question paper archive, but previous year papers are available through educational books and preparation resources. Solving 10–15 previous year papers helps you understand the type of questions asked, the difficulty level, and the topics that appear repeatedly. You will also get better at managing time once you see the actual question style.

7. Do Not Ignore Weak Sections

Many students skip topics they find difficult and over-invest time in topics they are already good at. In a 60-question exam with no negative marking, every mark counts. If you score 20/20 in Mathematics but only 12/20 in Chemistry, you leave 8 easy marks on the table. Identify your weakest subject and dedicate at least 30–40% of your preparation time to it, especially in the last 4 weeks before Phase II.
