PGIMER Result Previous Year Statistics

PGIMER runs two admission cycles every year — a January session and a July session. The July session is the larger of the two and pulls applications from across India. The table below shows how the past few July sessions have moved year to year.

Year (July Session) Exam Date Result Date Courses Covered
2026 31 May 2026 13 June 2026 MSc Nursing, MSc, MLT, Fellowship, Post-Doctoral, PhD
2025 7 June 2025 13 June 2025 MSc Nursing, MSc, MLT, Fellowship, PhD
2024 2 June 2024 3rd week of June 2024 MSc Nursing, MSc, MLT, Fellowship, PhD
2023 4 June 2023 3rd week of June 2023 MSc Nursing, MSc, MLT, Fellowship, PhD
2022 5 June 2022 4th week of June 2022 MSc Nursing, MSc, Fellowship, PhD

The gap between exam and result has shrunk over the years. In 2022 and 2023, the score card came out 2-3 weeks after the test. By 2025, PGIMER had brought the turnaround down to just 6 days. The 2026 cycle followed a similar fast pattern with the result out in about two weeks.

Seat numbers in MSc Nursing have stayed steady at around 31 across five specialities. Competition has tightened year-on-year as the application volume keeps climbing, but seat strength is fixed by the institute and rarely moves.

MSc Nursing Speciality 2025 Closing Score Trend (Approx.) 2024 Closing Score Trend (Approx.)
Medical Surgical Nursing 62-65% (UR) 60-63% (UR)
Obstetric and Gynae Nursing 60-64% (UR) 58-62% (UR)
Community Health Nursing 58-62% (UR) 56-60% (UR)
Paediatric Nursing 60-63% (UR) 58-61% (UR)
Psychiatric Nursing 56-60% (UR) 55-58% (UR)

The trend shows that Medical Surgical Nursing and Obstetric & Gynae Nursing close at the highest scores year after year. Psychiatric Nursing closes slightly lower but still well above the qualifying floor. Plan your speciality preference at counselling with these numbers in mind.

Details Mentioned on PGIMER Score Card 2026

Check every field on your score card the moment it loads. If you find a mismatch — for example, a wrong photograph or a typo in your name — report it to PGIMER right away. Corrections after counselling starts are tough to push through.

PGIMER 2026 Qualifying Marks

To be in the merit list, you have to clear the minimum qualifying mark in the entrance test. The cut-offs are category-specific and have stayed the same for several years.

Category Minimum Qualifying Marks
General / UR 55% of total marks
OBC 55% of total marks
SC / ST 50% of total marks
PwBD 50% of total marks

Clearing the qualifying mark only gets you into the merit list. It does not promise a seat. The final admission depends on your rank, the seats available in your category and the speciality you choose at counselling.

PGIMER Cutoff 2026

The PGIMER cutoff is the lowest score at which the last seat in a course closes. It changes every year and depends on how many candidates appear, how tough the paper was and how many seats are open in each category.

PGIMER does not release a single national cutoff number. Instead, the closing score for each course and speciality is decided at the time of counselling. The table below shows an expected closing band for 2026 based on the last two years of trend data.

Course UR Closing Score (Expected) OBC Closing Score (Expected) SC/ST Closing Score (Expected)
MSc Nursing (Medical Surgical) 62-66% 58-62% 50-54%
MSc Nursing (Obstetric & Gynae) 60-64% 56-60% 50-53%
MSc (Medical disciplines) 58-62% 55-58% 50-52%
M.Sc (MLT) 55-60% 55-58% 50-52%
Fellowship / Post-Doctoral Fellowship Varies by speciality Varies by speciality Varies by speciality
PhD 55-60% 55-58% 50-52%

The actual closing scores are confirmed only once the counselling round wraps up. Keep an eye on the official notification page for the final cutoff list.

PGIMER 2026 Tie-Breaking Rules

When two or more candidates score the same total in the entrance test, PGIMER applies a set of tie-breakers to rank them. The rules run in the order below — the first one that breaks the tie wins.

  1. Higher marks in the subject-specific section of the test.
  2. Higher percentage in the qualifying degree (B.Sc Nursing for MSc Nursing, the relevant Master’s degree for PhD, and so on).
  3. Older candidate (date of birth — earlier date gets the higher rank).

If the tie still does not break, PGIMER’s examination committee takes a final call based on the supporting documents you submit at counselling.

PGIMER 2026 Seat Matrix

The seat strength for MSc Nursing has stayed steady at 31 seats split across five specialities. Other course-wise seat counts depend on the department and the supervisor’s availability for the cycle.

MSc Nursing Speciality Total Seats
Medical Surgical Nursing 11
Obstetric and Gynae Nursing 5
Community Health Nursing 5
Paediatric Nursing 5
Psychiatric Nursing 5
Total 31

Seats are split across categories — UR, OBC, EWS, SC, ST and PwBD — as per the PGIMER reservation policy. The exact category-wise breakup for each speciality is shared in the counselling notification.

Seats for MSc (other disciplines), M.Sc (MLT), Fellowship, Post-Doctoral Fellowship and PhD are listed department-wise in the prospectus and at the start of the counselling round.

What After PGIMER Result 2026: Counselling

If your name is in the merit list, the next step is document verification and counselling at PGIMER Chandigarh. Counselling is offline — you have to be present in person on the date PGIMER assigns to you. Skipping the date you are called for can cost you the seat.

Carry the documents listed below in original along with two sets of self-attested photocopies. Missing even one document on the day can stop you from being considered for a seat.

  • PGIMER 2026 score card (printout)
  • Admit card of the entrance test
  • Class X mark sheet and certificate (for date of birth)
  • Class XII mark sheet and certificate
  • Qualifying degree mark sheet and certificate (B.Sc Nursing, MSc, MBBS, etc., as applicable)
  • Internship completion certificate (where applicable)
  • Nursing council registration (for MSc Nursing applicants)
  • Category certificate (OBC / SC / ST / EWS / PwBD), if claimed
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • Valid government photo ID (Aadhaar / Passport / Driving Licence)
  • NOC from current employer (if you are in service)

Once the documents are verified, seats are allotted in order of merit and choice filling. After the seat is allotted, you have to pay the course fee within the deadline and report at the department. Missing the reporting deadline cancels the seat and the next candidate on the waiting list is called in.

Ques. Is there a separate counselling round for each course?

Ans. Yes. PGIMER schedules counselling course-wise. MSc Nursing, MSc, Fellowship and PhD all have their own dates. Check the schedule released along with the result to know when to report for your course.

Ques. What happens if I miss the counselling date?

Ans. Your seat is forfeited. PGIMER does not offer a second slot for candidates who skip without notice. In rare cases where you can give written proof of a medical emergency, the institute may reconsider, but this is at its discretion.
