Mizoram board exam for class 10th and 12th will be conducted around March, 2021. The syllabus for HS and HSS exam 2021 have been reduced due to the loss of classes suffered during the pandemic. The board has uploaded the revised syllabus on its official website. The board has released a notification in which it was mentioned that in view of long closure of schools due to the surge of Covid-19 cases resulting in the loss of classroom instructions the board has decided to reduce the syllabus. The 83rd meeting of the syllabus committee board held on August 5, 2020 concluded that the syllabus of high school and higher secondary school will be reduced by 30%. The policy will be valid only for the academic year 2020-21.

The Mizoram Board 12th exams are taken by the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE). Exams are conducted for the students studying Arts, Science and Commerce. There are a total of five subjects for class 12 including one compulsory language paper and one elective subject. English will be a compulsory subject and students can elect any language or vocational paper as fifth or sixth subject. Students appearing for Mizoram board exam 12th exam have to clear both theory and practical papers to get promoted to the next higher level. The total exam duration is 3 hours and the weightage of every paper is 100 marks. The minimum marks required to pass in the exam is 33% in every subject and 33% aggregate.

Mizoram Board HSSLC Exam Pattern: English

There are three sections in English in the class 12 board exam- (a)Reading (b)Writing (c)Literature. No changes have been made to the exam pattern of the reading section. In the writing section the topics that have been removed are letter writing(formal and informal), article writing and short composition(invitation, posters etc). In the Literature section two poetries, 3 prose and 3 chapters from ‘Vistas’ have been removed for the 202-21 session. The detailed exam pattern are as follows:

Mizoram Board HSSLC Exam Pattern: History

In History one chapter each from Section-1, 2 and 3 have been removed. The total marking coverage that has been omitted is 24 marks. The fourth chapter, reads Thinkers, Beliefs and Buildings have been removed from the first section. In the second section chapter 5, reads Through the Eyes of Travellers have been dropped off. In the third section chapter 14, reads Understanding Partition have been omitted. All the above mentioned chapters have been completely removed from the syllabus of 2020-21.

Mizoram Board HSSLC Exam Pattern: Mathematics 

Mathematics is one of the lengthiest papers in class 12. The syllabus has been removed in line with the CBSE pattern. There are a total of six units in class 12 mathematics and chapters have been omitted from every unit. The written exam will be conducted for 80 marks with the retained chapters. The distribution of marks are as follows:

In Physics there are topics deleted from 7 units that were considered less important. Topics from Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Gravitation, properties of bulk matter etc have been omitted. All these topics covered around 25 marks in the question paper. The candidates are suggested to study the dropped-off part on their own to keep a complete knowledge on the topics. Around 16 units have been omitted from the Chemistry syllabus for 2020-21 exams. The syllabus of chemistry is believed to be lengthy and so there are so many chapters that have been considered less important. However, it is not a surety that if NTA will follow the same pattern of syllabus revision or not. The students are suggested to tally both the syllabus and prepare accordingly. NTA has not released the revised syllabus yet but it is expected to be released soon.

Mizoram Board HSSLC Exam Pattern: Biology

Biology is divided into two parts in class 11 and 12-(a)Botany (b)Zoology. The changes have been made in five units including both the parts. Chapter number 2, 8, 9, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19 and 22 are the chapters with no omissions i.e. the entire chapter has been retained in the syllabus. The topic wise weightage are tabulated below:

Mizoram Board HSLC Exam Pattern

MBSE HSLC Board exams are conducted in the starting week of March each year. The compartment or supplementary exams are conducted post the declaration of the results, these exams are conducted in June each year. Board takes the Mizoram 10th Compartment Exam for those students who were unable to qualify the regular board examination. The exam pattern will be different as compared to the previous years because the board has reduced the syllabus by 30%.   • In case they scored 33% of total marks in each theory paper
