Assam CEE Eligibility Criteria 2024 has been released on the official website. As per the eligibility, your age should be less than 17 years. There is also age bar which is 22 years. But 3-years age relaxation in upper age limit will be given to SC/ST candidates.

Aspirants must qualify with at least 50% marks (40% marks for ST and 45% marks for SC) in the last exam along with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as the compulsory subjects.

The application form will be submitted online. It will be available at the university website. It is mandatory to remit the application fees along with the application form. The application form will be available in two phases Form A and Form B. Form A will be available prior to access of application form whereas Form B will be accessible at the time of counselling.

Eligibility as per Nationality

Foreign candidates are not allowed to apply for Assam Combined Entrance Examination. Applicant must be Indian citizen. Apart from it, they should be a permanent resident from the Assam domicile.

Eligibility as per Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: The maximum age of any candidate should not exceed 21-year.

Lower Age Limit: In order to apply for Assam CEE candidates should attain at least the age of 17. In this case, the age will be evaluated as on August 1, 2024.

Age Relaxation: The relaxation is specially allotted for the reserved category. The SC/ST category candidates will be given a 3-year relaxation on the upper age limit.

Note: Aspirants who are holding a Bachelor Degree in any science stream will only be eligible for admission if he/she attains 22-year of age.

Eligibility as per Academics/Education

Applicants must pass the last qualifying examination in ‘one sitting’ devoid of any kind of grace marks in the following subject: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. It is mandatory for every candidate to score at least 50 % (45 % for SC and 40 % for ST) marks in the aggregate (including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

Eligibility as per Course

The eligibility criteria are same for all the courses offered by Directorate of Technical Education, Assam for Combined Entrance Test, 2023.

Number of Attempts

There is no such restriction to number of attempts. If any candidate fails to crack the entrance in first time, he/she can attempt again the succeeding year for the entrance. However, the number of attempts is restricted to the age of 21-year of the applicant.


Reservation Criteria

Assam CEE 2024 reservation for various categories is as follows:

Son, and Daughter of Ex-Serviceman  1 seat per college

Seat Reservation is also allocated for the following categories:

Child / Grandchild of any freedom fighters (including both paternal & maternal) – 2 seats in AEC, 2 seats in JEC, 1 seat in JIST, Jorhat in selected branches (Among these seats one seat is reserved for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC.) 
Physically Challenged 3% of the total intake capacity of the college
NCC 1 seat per one college
Sportsman 1 seat per one college
Moran/Motak communities  1 seat per one college

Candidates applying for reservation have to produce the Original certificate on the counselling day.  

For Wards of Ex-Defense Service Personal or Freedom Fighter

Aspirants who are applying against the reserved proportion of “Son/Daughters of Ex-Defense Service personal” must carry the original certificate issued by: The Director, Sainik Board, Assam at the time of counselling. 

Candidates applying against reserved quota of “Son, Daughter, Grandson and Granddaughter of freedom fighters” should compulsorily enclose two certificates: - 

  • Freedom Fighter certificate given by the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Assam verifying  the Freedom Fighter  
  • Certificate from D.C./authorized official of D.C., declaring that there is a direct relationship between candidate and freedom fighter. 

In case of physically challenged candidates, Identity Card and Certificate is to be issued from the State Level/District Level Medical Board (as represented in practicing of ‘Social Welfare Department’), which is to be produced at counselling. The percentage should be 40% to 80%.  

For NCC

Candidates applying against Reserved NCC have to produce the Original Copy along with the photocopy of N.C.C. Examination Certificate given by the following:

  • The Deputy Director General National Cadets Cops, Ministry of Defense Govt. of India.
  • Certificates of merit (NCC Certificate) from the Head of the Institution / College/School.

In order to determine merit for admission in NCC Quota, following criteria is focused: 

  •  “C” certificate with Grading “A” would be considered as Rank I 
  •  “C” certificate with Grading “B” would be considered as Rank II
  • “B” certificate with Grading “A” would be considered as Rank III
  • “B” certificate with Grading “B” would be considered as Rank IV
  • “A” certificate with Grading “A” would be considered as Rank V
  • “A” certificate with Grading “B” would be considered as Rank VI 

If number of Certificates are equal in Rank, then merit will be decided by considering the marks of Entrance Test. If still there is a tie then Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics marks of qualifying examination will be taken into consideration. Still if the tie persists, the total marks obtained in Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics + English in the qualifying examination will be evaluated. In case of further tie, the ultimate decision is taken by the Chairman of Selection Committee.   

For Sports Person

Applicants next to the Reserved Sports category should have represented his/her State in National Games / Asian Games / Olympic Games. The merit in these cases will be confirm in order of series of Medals in the following order of Preference:

  • Medal winner of Olympic Games/ World Championships.
  • Participants in Olympic Games/ World Championships.
  • Medal winner of Commonwealth Games/ Asian Games/ Asian Championships. 
  • Participants in Commonwealth Games/ Asian Games/ Asian Championships.
  • Medal winner of SAF Games/ National Games/ National Championships (Olympic recognized disciplines)/ National Cricket Tournaments organized by BCCI. 
  • Participants in SAF Games/ National Games/ National Championships (Olympic recognized disciplines)/ Nation Cricket Tournaments organized by BCCI. 
  • Medal winner of National School Games organized by School Games Federation of India/ All India Rural Sports/ Women Sports Festival/ North East Games/ National Inter School tournament organized by SAI NSNIS, Patiala under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India. 
  • Medal winner of State Games/ State Championships/ Tournament organized by Assam Olympic Association/ State Sports Association / Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam.  

Tie breaking for Sports Quota will be done with the help of the admission test. If there is a tie in the exam then the same tie breaking procedure will be followed as in case of the NCC Quota Candidates. No grace marks are given priority and aspirants must score a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of the qualifying exam.  

Besides, the above stated criteria candidates should also receive a medal at least one at any  State level at the prior to three years of sitting in the Entrance Examination for seeking admission to various enlisted colleges. 

In order to seek admission in opposition to the Sports / NCC Quota, reserved for State Engineering College, Assam aspirants are instructed to put forward an application post appearing in the CEE – 2023 enclosing copy of mark sheet of the last qualifying Examination. The eligible candidates will be shortlisted by the committee of the following members:- 

  •  DTE, Assam (Chairman)
  • Director of Sports (Member)
  • Director of NCC (Member)    
  • Principals of State Engg. Colleges (Member
  • Controller of Examination, SCTE (Member Secretary)  

Others

Few seats are also reserved for candidates who are nominated by the State of Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura as per the allocation rules of Government of India, Ministry of Human Resources Development Department, New Delhi. 

“Son/Daughter of employees of Central Government or Central Government Public Sector Under taking, serving in Assam’’ for more than five-year are also eligible to apply. Candidates of this category must affix and submit relevant documents duly signed by the competent authority as evidence. The document must state that:

  • His/her parents are not permanent resident of Assam, but belong from other State of India.
  • Service period of his/her parents in Assam is as an employee of Central Govt./Undertakings.
  •  Transfer Certificate from the School/College last attended by candidate. 

If any of the preserved seats prevail vacant, seats are then filled from the General Merit List of Admission Test in preference of merit.
