Ques. How are the faculties of NIT Trichy in instrumentation and control engineering?

● Top Answer By Vishal Mehra on 08 Feb 24

Ans. I must tell you that the faculty of all NITs is quite similar.  You might be disappointed at the faculty of NIT Trichy or any other top engineering college. This is because the bar of your expectations will be high after clearing such a competitive exam. But don’t worry, you’ll really like some of the teachers from the Instrumentation and Control department. You’ll want to attend their lectures.  Make sure to have friendly relations with your seniors. They will tell you a lot about the different faculty members. Moreover, be consistent in your self study routine and take help from online resources. Don’t expect the faculty to spoon feed you. Read more

Ques. How good is an MTech in industrial engineering and management from NIT Trichy? What are the job prospects?

● Top Answer By Shrija Param on 26 Jul 23

Ans. NIT Trichy Placements are good for the Industrial Engineering and Management course. You can sit for placements in almost all the companies that offer jobs to Mechanical/Production specializations. IEM students are also exclusively offered placements for Management related profiles. Data/Business Analytics, Simulation, and Supply Chain are some core IE profiles that are offered only to IEM students. With an M.Tech in IEM, you can work as a Lecturer in Engineering Colleges or apply for a Ph.D. in IITs, IIMs, or Foreign Universities. The curriculum of IEM at NIT Trichy is job oriented and the department is lenient towards attendance, classes, and exams. Thus an M.Tech in IEM from NIT Trichy is a good choice and it offers numerous job opportunities.Read more

Ques. How's an MTech in industrial engineering from IIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Kunal Sharma on 05 Apr 23

Ans. IIT Delhi M.Tech program in Industrial Engineering covers a wide range of topics such as statistics, probability, optimization, simulation, etc thus attracting more and more recruiters every year. Of all the fields, a major part of the batch prefers Analytics mainly because of the packages offered and the kind of companies visiting for jobs related to Analytics. Analytics companies arrive way before supply chains and other companies and most students prefer going for Analytics only.  However, the IE branch has much better scope in other Institutes like NITIE, IITB, and IITK. IIT Delhi also isn’t very lacking and its placement statistics are a testament to the same. Around 80% of the entire batch was placed this year with the major recruiters include Accenture Barclays Bank Capgemini Deloitte Flipkart Hindustan Unilever ICICI JP Morgan Chase Coursework : The coursework lacks diversity in comparison to the IEOR at Bombay or IEM at Kanpur. But the best part is the rigorous projects part of the curriculum that begins right from the first year itself. These projects are based on real-life problems in society covering fields such as healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, and public policy while using modern programming tools such as Python, Matlab, Java, C, etc. Some major courses offered in the program are Probability and statistics Linear and Non-linear optimization Industrial Engineering Systems Supply Chain Management MPC (Maintenance Planning and Control) Project Management OPC (operations Planning and Control) SMS (Stochastic Modeling and Simulation) Value Engineering and life cycle costing RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) Considering decent placements and rigorous coursework, MTech in Industrial Engineering at IIT Delhi is not a bad idea.Read more

Ques. What are the career prospects after doing M.tech in Quality Reliability and Operations Research from ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Ritabrita Mitra on 01 Mar 22

Ans. The career prospect of doing M.Tech in Quality Reliability and Operations Research from ISI Kolkata can be divided into two parts, i.e. jobs and placements. You don’t need to worry about job prospects, you will get placement offers as a Business analyst or Data scientist with a similar CTC of top b-school graduates. According to the 2021 ISI Kolkata placement highlight, the average CTC offered was INR 19 LPA.  Doing Ph.D. or higher studies can be difficult, especially if you are planning on going overseas. It’s better if you choose the Industrial Engineering domain. It will aline with QROR. If you are interested in Data Science or Machine Learning domain, you can consider doing some projects. ISI offers ample opportunities for such projects. Read more

Ques. What is the scope after doing Quality, Reliability and Operations Research [M. Tech. (QROR)] from ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Sreeparna Hazra on 21 Sept 21

Ans. Well, I would if you are worried about job prospects and all stuff although being in ISI Kolkata then shed off your worry. Trust me; you will get a job with an average CTC matching with top B-Schools in India. Job roles such as Business Analyst/Data Scientist and many others will be offered to you. Now let me help you more in understanding this. Let’s break this into two parts – Job vs. Higher Studies. Pursuing Ph.D./Higher Studies is a tough deal if you're applying abroad. My personal perspective, in this case, will be, go for a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering domain.  That's the best option, as it will be aligned with QROR. Now, you should definitely rethink before applying for the courses like Data Science/ Machine Learning domain, or Statistics. For this, I would suggest you consider doing some projects. And if you are at the Indian Statistical Institute you will get a plethora of opportunities. So first and foremost, just be crystal clear with your future endeavors before joining any course. Once you decide, opt for the best but don’t rush. Just give your best thought and calculate all the pros and cons.Read more
