The curriculum of this course incorporates the fundamentals of electronics along with applications of communications to make a student through with the knowledge and skills to make a electric circuit of a communications system. It makes the students analytical and opens the broad areas of employment from various industries.

The curriculum includes dissertation, projects, elective exams, assignments during M.Tech. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering course. It will enhance their skills, way of looking at problems and finally will give them a practical approach to real life scenarios.

Each semester consists of some core subjects and some electives but the general subjects that are prescribed by most of the universities are-

This subject teaches us the fundamentals of digital communication and the recent developments in it.

Wireless Communication

This subject provides description of wireless mobile communication, and students can know about different channels in a wireless network

Digital Systems Design

Introduction to VHDL, analysis of clocked sequential networks, programmable LSI techniques

This subject teaches them to design and implement their ideas to make sequential digital system and even test it

This subject will make the students able to be well aware of Information theory as it provides detailed concepts and fundamentals of Information Theory.

Communication Networks

This subject provides in depth knowledge of Internet Architecture and other applications such as statistical multiplexing and internetworking applications

Wavelets Theory

Fourier and sampling theory, splines, biorthogonality, time frequency analysis

This subject gives an introduction to wavelets theory and its applications.

Biomedical Signal Processing

Concurrent, coupled and correlated processes , cardio vascular applications, neurological applications

This subject focuses on introduction of biomedical signal fundamentals, tools , and neurological applications of signal processing.

Linear Systems Theory

Finite dimensional signal space, linear systems, invertibility, polynomial applied to operators, metric spaces

This subject teaches about vector space representation of signals, orthonormal bases and basics of linear systems.

Power Electronics

Review of line commutated converters, inverters, voltage control, current source inverters, phase controllers

This subject provides an insight to power electronics in a detailed and profound way and also uses of its applications. It tells about how the inverters are made, different sources and modification of power circuits.

Spectral Analysis of Signals

Power spectral density, PSD estimation, Parametric method for rational spectra, folter bank methods, periodogram properties.

This subject deals with introduction to spectral analysis and different methods for spectral analysis.

 Secure Communications

rings and fields, basic encryption techniques, elliptic curves, concept of cryptanalytic, Euclidean domains

This subject provides basic knowledge of secure communications and building up of mathematics of secure communications.

Scheme of Assessment

Colleges evaluate the students in an effective manner by using two methods of Internal Assessment and External Assessment. Internal assessment includes the class tests, assignments, and projects, practical etc. And the external examinations include the main written test students have to take each semester to show their conceptual knowledge and applications. Internal assessment generally forms 25-35% of the total marks and the rest lays on external exams.

Ans. I would suggest opting for MTech from IIT Bhubaneswar in electronics and communication is a better choice than IIT Bangalore. IIT Bhubaneswar is known for its excellent curriculums, highly qualified and experienced faculties, and extensive research facilities. IIT Bhubaneswar offers two years of full-time programs for MTech. The course fee for the first year is INR 51390 . The cutoff for GATE in 2021 was 500 . IIT Bhubaneswar offers excellent placement opportunities for students with an average of 89% placement and the average package offered is INR 12.25 LPA . Ans. First and foremost, best of luck for your M.Tech admissions. The M.Tech ECE placements are average at MNNIT Allahabad. The placements largely depend upon the expected number of recruitments from visiting companies for a particular year.  Companies like Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Idea Cellular visit the campus with limited job vacancies. Other companies that make M.Tech ECE recruitments from our college include Tejas Networks, Digicomm semiconductors, Eximius, etc. Apart from that, M.Tech ECE students get the opportunity to sit for some software companies as well.  Maintain 9+ CGPA (doing so is easy) and focus more on doing projects using tools like MATLAB, NS-2 and System Vue. By doing so, you’ll increase your chances of getting a good package during the placement season. Thus, the Communication Systems placements are quite decent at MNNIT, but everything boils down to your individual efforts. Read more

Ques. Which college is better for an MTech, VLSI, NIT Surathkal or IIIT Bangalore?

Ans. Based on my research, here is some relevant information to assist you- IIIT Bangalore offers much better infrastructure, research facilities, and placement opportunities as compared to NIT Surathkal. However, the fee structure at IIIT Bangalore is also on the higher side. Most of the top brands visit both these campuses for placements.  As of June 2023, the highest CTC for M.Tech ECE stood at 38 LPA, at IIIT Bangalore. The average CTC stood at 26.2 LPA, and the median CTC stood at 22.5 LPA.  Though both are top colleges, I would recommend you choose IIIT Bangalore for M.Tech ECE. Ans. The two deciding factors in this case are the studies and placements. IIT Dhanbad offers M.Tech ECE in VLSI, RF and Microwave Engineering, Communications, and Photonics. RF and Microwave Engineering is a good but difficult option.  The faculty for VLSI and Communications is good. However, the Photonics faculty is not good at all. 2-3 subjects and labs are common for all ECE students. However, the curriculum for RF and Microwave is entirely different from the other three. The placement scenario for ECE isn’t good. Very few students are placed from the department, that too in non-core jobs. Those who are well-versed in programming get easily placed in IT firms.  Core companies like Texas, Intel, Amdocs, etc. visit the campus for recruitment. However, they recruit very few students (sometimes none) from the department. Some students do secure internships at firms like Intel. But for final placements, they have to undergo screening once again. The placements are nil in RF. But some universities visit the campus seeking Assistant Professors. They offer good starting packages.  If you get VLSI at NIT Surathkal/Trichy/Warangal, choose that over IIT Dhanbad. The placement for VLSI is very good at these colleges. As for IIT Dhanbad, it offers a very decent M.Tech ECE. The main advantage in this case is the ‘IIT’ tag.Read more

Ans. MNIT Jaipur ECE branch is highly regarded for its good quality education and research opportunities. MNIT Jaipur offers four specializations under the ECE branch namely: VLSI Design Embedded System Wireless and Optical Communication (WOC) Electronics and Communication All the above branches are equally good in terms of curriculum and job opportunities so your preference and inclination that should determine the right one for you. All the branches are good in themselves so I would suggest going for your interest. This branch is also a decent choice if you want to prepare for competitive exams as the workload is less and there is a lot of free time.  Here are a few pros and cons of the institute that will help you further decide: Pros : An environment conducive to both academics and extracurricular activities.  It’s the best option if you are willing to prepare for competitive exam  An excellent college for presenting papers so its Ph.D. program is highly valuable. The professors are highly approachable and experienced. MNIT Jaipur has a well-stocked library even better than some IITs. Cons : The placement scenario isn't on par with IITs yet. Moreover, most companies prefer BTech students to MTech students so you have to be among the toppers to get a decent package. The lab facilities are poor so the level of research conducted is also average. Some of the best professors are Prof. Subhajit Sen and Prof. Subir Roy The course structure is extremely flexible allowing you to take up any course of your choice. Ans. I have a friend who is pursuing M.tech in Electronic systems engineering at IISc and a cousin who is pursuing M.tech at IITB too. So, I seem to be in the best position to compare IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore.  Academic environment : IISc has a rich research culture and you will find both faculty and students actively involved in dynamic research projects. A total of 42 departments offer rigorous courses that challenge the researcher within you. IISc also provides excellent opportunities to pursue any interdisciplinary field like microbiology, neuroscience, nanoscience, astronomy, genetics, etc. IIT Bombay on the other hand has a laid-back culture and curriculum that is more placement-oriented. Only passionate students are motivated enough to involve in research activities. Placement : IIT Bombay has diverse companies visiting for placements while IISc usually has only core companies. Moreover, the students applying for placements are at IIT Bombay than IISc because IISc students prefer higher studies or research. So we can say that IIT Bombay has a more active placement cell than IISc. Extra-Curriculars : IIT Bombay is known for its vibrant campus life and huge events that are organized to give the students a break from academics. IISc is a bit lacking in this aspect as its sole focus is on in-depth research.
