KCP B.Pharma Lateral FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between B.Pharma regular (4 years) and B.Pharma Lateral Entry (3 years) at KCP?
Ans. B.Pharma regular is a 4-year programme for students who have completed 10+2 (HSC) with science subjects. B.Pharma Lateral Entry is a 3-year programme exclusively for D.Pharma holders, who directly enter the 2nd year of B.Pharma. Both lead to the same B.Pharma degree from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. The lateral entry route saves one year for D.Pharma graduates.
Ques. How many seats are available for B.Pharma Lateral Entry at KCP and is it competitive?
Ans. There are only 10 seats for B.Pharma Lateral Entry at KCP, making it quite competitive. Admission is based on merit (D.Pharma marks) through DME Tamil Nadu counselling. Given the limited seats, candidates with higher D.Pharma aggregate marks have a better chance of securing admission through government quota.
Ques. After completing B.Pharma Lateral Entry from KCP, can I pursue M.Pharma?
Ans. Yes, B.Pharma Lateral Entry graduates are fully eligible to pursue M.Pharma, just like regular B.Pharma graduates. They can appear for TANCET and GPAT exams and apply for M.Pharma admissions through DME Tamil Nadu counselling. KCP itself offers M.Pharma in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical Analysis.
Ques. What is the fee for B.Pharma Lateral Entry at KCP compared to regular B.Pharma?
Ans. B.Pharma Lateral Entry total fee is Rs. 3.18 Lakhs for 3 years. Regular B.Pharma total fee is Rs. 12.32 Lakhs for 4 years. The lateral entry programme is significantly more affordable on a per-year basis as well (approximately Rs. 1.06 Lakhs per year vs Rs. 3.08 Lakhs per year for regular B.Pharma).
Ques. Is the B.Pharma Lateral Entry degree from KCP equivalent to a regular B.Pharma degree?
Ans. Yes, the B.Pharma Lateral Entry degree is equivalent to a regular B.Pharma degree. Both are awarded by Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and are recognised by PCI. Graduates are eligible for the same career opportunities, government jobs, and higher studies as regular B.Pharma graduates.
Ques. Can I apply for B.Pharma Lateral Entry at KCP if I completed D.Pharma from another state?
Ans. Yes, candidates who have completed D.Pharma from a PCI-approved institution in any state are eligible to apply. However, admission through government quota is primarily for Tamil Nadu residents through DME Tamil Nadu counselling. Candidates from other states may need to apply under management quota. Contact the college at admin@kcp.edu.in for details on inter-state admissions.
