In 2008, admission to the B.Sc Computer Science program at DAV College required only the payment of fees, with no entrance exam. The application form cost Rs. 300, and admission was granted based on passing the 10th and 12th exams, even up to 30-40 days before the final admission date. Although initially only one seat was available, 50 additional students were admitted without issue. The faculty is described as generally outstanding and supportive, although the permanent staff often struck, impacting their availability for student queries.
From 2008 to 2011, the annual fee was Rs. 30,000, transitioning to a semester system with the same fee per semester. Most courses cost below Rs. 40,000 annually, with the highest around Rs. 60,000. Fees are paid in three installments: July, September, and January. Approximately 40% of students secured placements, with the highest monthly salary offered at Rs. 41,000 and the minimum at Rs. 16,000. The top recruiting companies included Wipro, Infosys, and HCL, with the highest salary package being 10 LPA and the minimum 1.5 LPA.
Around 60% of students obtained internships, although none were recorded for the computer science batch. A dedicated WhatsApp group enhances job and internship opportunities. Various scholarship schemes, typically government-governed, benefit players, artists, and top-performing students by significantly reducing their fees. First-year students are primarily eligible for these scholarships, with additional scholarships available for university toppers in the second year. Needy students may receive about 6,000 rupees. Reserved category students have a fee structure of about 5,000 rupees per annum due to numerous scholarships, while general category students face a fee of 35,000 rupees per annum.
The fee remains constant throughout the course, and scholarships are awarded based on merit.
