GDC Mumbai Admission Process

All programmes at GDC Mumbai use a merit-and-exam-based selection model. There are no management quota seats at this government institution.

BDS Admission

The BDS eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
  • Minimum age of 17 years at the time of admission
  • Valid NEET UG score in the current cycle

Seat allotment follows a two-track model. Maharashtra State Quota (85% of seats) is administered by CET Cell Maharashtra through online counselling rounds. All India Quota (15% of seats) is filled by MCC through its centralised BDS counselling. Candidates register on the respective portal, fill college and course preferences, receive provisional allotment, and confirm admission with document verification.

The BDS 2025 General Category closing rank at GDC Mumbai under Maharashtra State Quota stood at around 6,168. OBC closing rank was around 35,968 and SC closing rank around 1,54,379. Expected 2026 cutoffs are likely to remain in a comparable range depending on overall NEET performance that year.

MDS Admission

MDS eligibility requires a BDS degree and a valid NEET PG score. Each of the 8 specialisations at GDC Mumbai has a separate seat pool with independent closing NEET PG percentiles. Seat allotment follows the same All India Quota and state quota split, through MCC and DTE Maharashtra respectively.

Diploma Programmes

Diploma in Dental Hygienist and Diploma in Dental Mechanics are 2-year programmes. Admission is through DTE Maharashtra on merit basis after 10+2 in the Science stream. These programmes train para-dental professionals and have limited seats.

GDC Mumbai’s attachment to the J.J. Hospital complex gives BDS students high clinical patient volume across all departments. This exposure is widely valued for NEET PG preparation, where procedural case experience matters. Alumni of GDC Mumbai are well-represented across Maharashtra’s government dental network and dental teaching institutions.

NEET PG preparation is the primary post-BDS goal for most graduates. The college’s infrastructure and faculty depth in core clinical subjects support strong NEET PG outcomes among its alumni.
