Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Automobile Engineering is an undergraduate engineering degree. Students passed in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects are eligible to take admission in this course. The duration of the course is four years. Admission in most of the colleges is done through various entrance tests conducted at national and state level.

B.Tech program in Automobile engineering deals with the study of various engines and their construction, electrical systems, alternate fuels, safety, economics and quality of an automobile.  The Automobile Engineering graduates are placed in organizations specializing in products and services related to automobile industry, software solutions, product and technology like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Daimler India Ltd, Honda, and Tata Consultancy Services. According to PayScale India, an automobile engineer can earn anywhere between Rs. 250,000 and Rs. 600,000 per annum average salary package.  

Candidates must have considerable understanding and interest in mechanics, electronics, and mathematics as these are vital skills required for making a good growth in Automobile Engineering.

What is Automobile Engineering?

Automobile Engineering is the sub branch of Mechanical Engineering, also known as automotive engineering or vehicle engineering. The automobile industry includes automobiles and auto components sectors.

The Automobile engineering course caters to the creation and maintenance of automobiles, right from designing the vehicles to manufacturing components, assembling them, testing them for safety, repairing and maintaining. It also enables the engineers to explore new areas, create new avenues in the fields of R&D and develop their talent in new technologies.

Academic Options

There are options for higher studies after the completion of B.Tech. course. Students can pursue Master’s degree in specialized course. Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Automobile engineering is the best option to get specialized in this course. Students can take GATE for taking admission in this course. Ph.D. is another option for higher studies. Students can also opt for MBA course, which will take them to the managerial level in their career which is most promising career option nowadays. 

Candidate should have passed 10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) with 50% marks from recognized board.

2. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow conducts an entrance examination for 85% seats.The candidates are allotted branches on the basis of their merit through counselling conducted by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow.
3. For 15% seats candidates can apply for direct admission. Admission will be based on the percentage of marks obtained in qualifying exam and /or respective entrance exam as per the policies of the University .
