How is the campus environment and student life at NIFT Srinagar?

The life at NIFT Srinagar is serene and picturesque because of the stunning surrounding in the Kashmir Valley. Students describe it as very quiet and ideal for creativity. The environment is close-knit, so everyone is familiar with one another as if it's a small family. Although it's not as crowded as metro cities, the campus is alive with clubs, cultural activities, and industrial visits. Winters are cold here, so they will have to be ready for snow and cold weather.

Are there enough exposure and industry interactions at such a remote location of NIFT Srinagar?

Yes, even though in Srinagar, NIFT has regular webinars, online workshops, and even direct interactions with fashion designers and brands. They are provided with internships in Delhi, Mumbai, and other cities. On-campus exposure may sometimes feel restricted in comparison with NIFTs in metros, but the faculty tries hard to overcome that with industry projects and mentorship.

Is accommodation good for outstation students, especially girls?

Yes, the hostels are secure and well-groomed. The girls' hostel, especially, has tight security, curfews, and support personnel, making it very secure. Most students from other states reside in hostels and report it's cozy, particularly after settling into the cold weather. Fundamental facilities such as Wi-Fi, heaters, and hot water are there, although students do report the facilities could be a bit better.

Review of nift srinagar

Likes

Infrastructure of the college as well as the hostels
The support from the faculties as well as non teaching staff is superb
All the materials needed for us is available in the department store

Dislikes

The things in the department store is too expensive
Food everyday contains too much of oil and it's sometimes a reason for an upset stomach
Toilet facilities in men both in hostel as well as hostel is too bad

Internships Opportunities:

Actually we get a lot of interships from a whole load of companies outside most of the companies hire the students from fashion communication and fashion design here, but the job which they hire for could be accomplished by any student there. As the job is like more of softwarey things I benefits more for fc students

Campus infrastructure as nift Srinagar is one of the biggest infrastructure in all nift campuses around India its environment is pretty good having. There different labs for every department with all equipments like body forms, chemical test labs .
Knowledge of faculties are pretty good they are quite experienced teachers very friendly in nature and they literally tech you from the basics of everything to make the strong base for the student .some of faculties are nift pass-out.
Time management of nift is one of most important espect as there is lots of practical work they give equal time to every subject so that we can gain knowledge in every field equally.they give time to theory subjects too like for fabric knowledge.

Dislikes

The most disliked thing there is a huge resource problem like it's in Srinagar it becomes very difficult for students to arrange different types of materials and fabrics we have to source a lot still many time we didn't get the same material
Fashion shows are the main thing in fashion design college but it's not that was expected.they rarely do any fashion shows as compared to other campus of nift in India . Literally students have to request the facilities for fashion shows.
The food was not good there most the time students skips their meals because not edible. Because of poor food service students suffer from food poisoning.this the thing I didn't like at all in nift Srinagar.

Internships Opportunities:

Companies: Amazon,ajio,myntra, Benetton, blackberrys,first cry,GAP, h&m,Calvin Klein Tata CLiQ.moatly students are placed in design and marketing field . One of our campus student got internship under tarun tehliani and some got under Ritu Kumar .

NIFT the college of dreams

Likes

I like the way there are different guest facilities for some new and interesting subjects
If you decide to live in the hostel that will definitely benefit you as there will be people who will be available for you to work with
You won’t have the academically pressure that you’ll feel in other colleges, the submission dates are pretty considerate

Dislikes

I honestly don’t think there’s anything to dislike about this college
We don’t have availability of stationary nearby or in the campus
There is very less accessiblility to things like taxis and autos

Internships Opportunities:

I have yet not not been introduced to the internships and placements but I hope to get it done by the end of 3rd year so I have not much information to this questions. But yes I have been given examples of several students who have got good results from the internships

Placement Experience:

A number of companies came for the internships and the faculty helped the students in making right choices. The average stipend was Rs.5000/- per month. Placement opportunities are provided to almost all students. Others chose higher studies or made arrangements for themselves via contacts and alumnus. All leading retailers and export houses were part of the placement drive.
