NLDIMSR Ph.D. (Management) FAQs
Ques. Q1. Is the Ph.D. from NLDIMSR a University of Mumbai degree or an NLDIMSR degree?
Ans. The Ph.D. degree is awarded by the University of Mumbai, not by NLDIMSR. NLDIMSR is a recognised Research Centre of the University of Mumbai for Management Studies. The research work is conducted at NLDIMSR under the guidance of approved research guides, but the final degree is conferred by the University of Mumbai, which is a prestigious public university established in 1857.
Ques. Q2. Can I pursue the Ph.D. at NLDIMSR on a part-time basis while working?
Ans. Yes, the University of Mumbai allows both full-time and part-time PhD modes. Part-time candidates typically have a duration of 4 to 7 years. However, part-time candidates must meet the University's requirements for minimum attendance and research progress. The part-time course fee per semester is Rs. 25,000 as per University of Mumbai norms. Candidates are advised to confirm part-time availability at the NLDIMSR Research Centre at the time of application.
Ques. Q3. If I have cleared UGC-NET or JRF, do I still need to appear for the University of Mumbai PET?
Ans. No. Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET (including JRF) are exempt from appearing in the University of Mumbai PET. They can directly apply for the selection interview at the NLDIMSR Research Centre when the admission notification is published. This is a significant advantage for NET/JRF qualified candidates as it allows them to bypass the entrance test stage.
Ques. Q4. What are the research areas available for Ph.D. in Management at NLDIMSR?
Ans. NLDIMSR's research centre covers the broad domain of Management Studies. Research areas typically include Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Organisational Behaviour, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. The specific research area depends on the availability of a qualified research guide at the centre. Candidates are advised to review the faculty profiles on the NLDIMSR website and identify potential guides before applying.
Ques. Q5. How many seats are available for Ph.D. at NLDIMSR Research Centre?
Ans. The number of seats (vacancies for research scholars) varies each admission cycle and depends on the availability of research guides and their existing scholar load as per University of Mumbai norms. The admission notification published on the NLDIMSR website after PET results will specify the number of available vacancies. Candidates are advised to monitor the website regularly.
Ques. Q6. What is the difference between the NLDIMSR application form fee and the University of Mumbai PET fee?
Ans. These are two separate fees. The University of Mumbai PET fee (Rs. 1,000) is paid to the University of Mumbai when registering for the PET exam. The NLDIMSR application form fee (Rs. 1,000) is paid separately to NLDIMSR when applying for the Research Centre interview, after PET results are declared. Both fees are non-refundable. The NLDIMSR fee is paid via NEFT/RTGS to Axis Bank (Account No. 915010013759623, IFSC: UTIB0000573).
