BRIM MBA FAQs
Ques. Does BRIM offer a specialization specifically in Marketing, or is it a dual specialization model?
Ans. BRIM follows a Dual Specialization model for its MBA programme. This means students are not restricted to a single specialization like Marketing alone. Instead, they can combine Marketing with another domain such as Finance, HR, Operations, or Business Analytics. This is a significant advantage as it makes graduates more versatile and employable across multiple functional areas. The dual specialization is built into the curriculum and does not require any additional fees.
Ques. Is KMAT Kerala the only entrance exam accepted at BRIM, or can I apply with CAT/CMAT scores?
Ans. BRIM accepts all three major entrance exams - CAT, CMAT, and KMAT Kerala - and treats them at par for the purpose of shortlisting and merit calculation. The minimum qualifying cut-off is just 10% for General/SEBC candidates and 7.5% for SC/ST candidates, which is relatively low. This means even students with moderate scores in CAT or CMAT can apply and get shortlisted, as the final selection also depends on GD and PI performance (which together account for 30% of the merit score).
Ques. What is the actual total cost of the MBA programme at BRIM, including all charges?
Ans. The total programme fee (excluding hostel) is Rs. 4,05,000 for 2 years, which includes tuition fees of Rs. 80,000 per semester (Rs. 3,20,000 total), plus one-time charges for affiliation, digital infrastructure, industry interface, and alumni fees. The caution deposit of Rs. 4,000 is refundable. If you opt for hostel, the additional cost is approximately Rs. 1,02,600 for 2 years (including rent, mess, and one-time charges), making the total approximately Rs. 5,07,600 with hostel. This is significantly lower than most private MBA colleges in Kerala.
Ques. How strong is the placement record at BRIM for MBA Marketing graduates?
Ans. BRIM has an active placement cell and has seen consistent placements across batches. Companies from sectors like FMCG, retail, banking, IT services, and consulting have recruited from the campus. The institute runs a dedicated corporate readiness programme called "Dwipad" in the second year to prepare students for placements. While specific package data exclusive to the Marketing specialization is not publicly disclosed, the overall MBA batch has seen placements with companies like TCS, Club Mahindra, HTIC Global, and others. Students are also encouraged to pursue internships with CII and other industry bodies during the programme.
Ques. Is the MBA degree from BRIM recognized, and what is the affiliation?
Ans. The MBA programme at BRIM is affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), which is a central government-funded university in Kerala. The degree awarded is a CUSAT MBA degree, which is widely recognized by employers and for higher education purposes. BRIM is also approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The affiliation to CUSAT gives the programme strong academic credibility, and CUSAT consistently ranks among the top universities in Kerala.
Ques. Can students from outside Kerala apply for MBA at BRIM?
Ans. Yes, BRIM explicitly welcomes students from all states across India. The admission process is open to all candidates who have a valid CAT, CMAT, or KMAT Kerala score. There is no state domicile requirement for admission. However, students should note that KMAT Kerala is a state-level exam primarily for Kerala-based MBA colleges, so non-Kerala students may prefer to apply with their CAT or CMAT scores. The institute provides hostel facilities for outstation students at an additional cost of approximately Rs. 1,650 per month for accommodation.
