- For the Super Speciality M.Ch and D.M courses, admissions are through the entrance exam/ counseling session conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
- For the specialty MD and DMRT courses, admissions are based on All India Quota via an entrance exam for some seats, and for the rest, an entrance exam conducted by the University.
- For the DNB courses, admissions are through the Entrance test and Counseling conducted by the National Board of Examinations.
- Admissions to B.Sc and Post Basic Diploma courses are based on a round of personal interview conducted by the institute.
- One seat of M.Sc is based on counseling by RGUHS while the remaining are based on interviews conducted by the Institute.

Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO), Bangalore, does not offer any management quota seats, as it is a government-funded regional cancer centre run under the Karnataka state government. All admissions, including UG (e.g., B.Sc. Nursing, Radiotherapy Technology) and PG/DM/MD programs, are merit-based or entrance-exam based, using exams such as KCET for B.Sc., NEET PG, NEET SS, etc.
