Established in 1984, Mohamed Sathak Engineering College was the first self-financed engineering institute in Tamil Nadu. MSEC is affiliated to Anna University. It has been accredited with a ‘B++’ grade by NAAC.
MSEC offers 18 specializations across undergraduate and postgraduate courses. To gain admission in BE or B Tech, a candidate must have completed 10+2 in the Science stream. The selection for B.Arch requires an appearance in NATA. The selection of candidates is through merit or TNEA counselling.
To get admitted in a postgraduate course, a candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in the requisite specialization. In addition, depending on the field, they must pass an entrance examination like MAT, TANCET, or one of the other All- India Entrance Examinations.
MSEC has an active training and placement office which works to place students in premier companies. Recruiters include the Indian Navy, Infosys, IBM, Tech Mahindra, and so on. In 2019, over 350 students were placed.

How to Apply to MSEC Ramanathapuram?
For B Tech/ BE
- Candidates must register online at the official website of TNEA.
- The online application can be submitted in person or by post to the Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai- 600025.
- Candidates have to attach photocopies of the following documents:
- Class 10 and 10+2 mark sheet
- 10+2 admit card
- Transfer certificate
- Permanent Community Certificate Card for SC, ST, SCA, MBC, & DNC, BC and BCM
- Nativity certificate if applicable
- First graduate certificate and first graduate joint declaration if applicable.
- Relevant certificate for a child of ex-servicemen, differently-abled person, if applicable.
- After filling the form, candidates have to go for counselling. Counselling fees are INR. 5,000/- (INR. 1,000/- for reserved categories). Candidates must bring all original documents during counselling.
For M.Tech./MCA/MBA
- Candidates have to fill out the application for TANCET on the official website of Anna University.
- The application fee is INR. 500/- (INR. 100/- for SC/ST categories). It is to be paid online. After TANCET results are declared, candidates need to attend counselling. For this, they must register at the Anna University’s website again.
- Counselling fee is INR. 5,300/- (INR 1,150/- for SC/ST categories).
