RRCE Ph.D: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (M.Tech, M.E., or M.Sc. for engineering and science disciplines; MBA or equivalent for Management Studies) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60 percent aggregate or CGPA 6.75 out of 10. No national entrance exam like GATE or CSIR is required.

Ans. The minimum duration is three years of full-time research. In practice, most PhD candidates take three to five years depending on the research topic, publications, and thesis completion speed. Semesters beyond the minimum duration are permissible but may attract supplementary fees as per VTU regulations.

Ans. RRCE’s PhD programme is listed as a full-time research programme under VTU. Full-time PhD candidates are generally expected to be present at the institution for research activities. Candidates employed full-time should check directly with the RRCE PhD admissions office regarding part-time or sponsored research options, as VTU does allow sponsored PhD in some cases.

Ans. RRCE does not advertise an institute-funded research stipend for PhD students. Candidates may independently apply for central government fellowships such as CSIR-JRF or UGC-JRF and join as funded scholars if selected.
