No score guarantees a seat here. The panel reads your proposal and meets you, so a clear research question counts as much as your test score.

FAQs on IMT Hyderabad FPM

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is the FPM at IMT Hyderabad worth it if I want to teach?
Yes, if teaching or research is your goal. The course trains you for both, no tuition fee is listed, and you get INR 50,000 a month for up to 4 years. Year 2 even has a course on how to teach management. Read the faculty list in your area before you apply, because your guide shapes your thesis.
Should I pick the FPM here if I want a corporate job?
No, not if a corporate job is your main goal. The FPM has no campus placement, and the course is built for teaching, research and consulting. If you want a job with a package soon, pick a course that has campus placement, and keep the FPM for later.
What job will I get after the FPM?
Most doors it opens are in teaching and research. The course trains you to teach in business schools, do research and take on consulting work. There is no campus placement and no published pay figure, so plan your job search through your guide, conferences and the papers you publish.
Is the stipend enough to live on?
For a single scholar, it is meant to be. The institute pays INR 50,000 a month, which is INR 6 LPA, and says it covers all costs. You also get a modest room on campus. If you have a family to support, work out your monthly costs first, because no family housing is given.
Can I keep my job and still take the FPM?
Not with the stipend. The stipend stops when you join a job, and the course is full-time and residential. If you cannot leave your job, ask the FPM office in writing before you apply, and compare it with a part-time doctoral course.
Should I apply in Phase 1 or wait for Phase 2?
Apply in Phase 1 if your proposal and test score are ready. Phase 1 closed on 7 Apr 2026 and Phase 2 on 10 May 2026, and Phase 2 is the last chance. Waiting only helps if you still need a test score or a better proposal.
Who should skip the FPM at IMT Hyderabad?
Skip it if you want a corporate job soon, need family housing, or plan to keep your job. The course has no campus placement, gives only a modest room, and stops the stipend once you take a job. It also suits you less if you want a large group of fellow scholars, since there are 20 seats.
Is my research area right for this course?
It is, if it fits one of the seven areas. They are economics, strategy, marketing, finance and accounting, organisation behaviour and HR, operations, and IT and analytics. Name your area in the proposal, because the offer letter fixes it, and a change later needs the FPM committee's approval.
Is a 60% Master's with a UGC NET pass enough to get a seat?
It is enough to apply, not to get a seat. The rules are 60% in your Master's and a valid test score or a UGC NET pass. The panel then reads your proposal and interviews you, so put your time into a clear research question.
How do I get admission to the FPM?
Apply online in Phase 1 or Phase 2 with a research proposal of about 1,000 words. If you are shortlisted, you come to the Hyderabad campus for the interview. Accept the offer by the date on your letter, then report for the preparatory course in June.
What is the full cost of the FPM?
No tuition fee is listed for FPM scholars. The institute's hostel and meals estimate is INR 1.68 Lakhs, and INR 1.91 Lakhs with the security deposit. The stipend is meant to cover these costs, so check the fee block above and ask the office which parts apply to you.
What marks and test do I need to apply?
You need a Master's degree with at least 60% marks, or a degree with CA, CMA or CS. You also need a CAT, XAT, GMAT, GRE or GATE score from 1 Jan 2020 or later, or a UGC NET pass. Use the checker above to see where you stand.

IMT Hyderabad: 1 Answered Question

I am considering BIMtech vs IMT Hyderabad, both for a full-time, flagship PGDM course. In which one should I reserve a seat for the time being?

Swetha ChillaPGDM- Marketing from Institute of Management Technology ,Ghaziabad (2018)

IMT Hyderabad is better as it is the youngest member of the IMT group and it is situated in this city which is booming with regards to IT, marketing, and finance.

  • The location acts as a huge advantage as it is just 30 minutes away from the main city and 7 to 10 minutes away from the international airport.
  • The faculties are great with more than 80% of them having a Ph.D. in their respective fields.
  • Some also have approximately 7 to 10 years of industry experience.
  • As a part of the pedagogy, amazing Harvard cases are discussed.
  • The best thing offered by the college is a 14 to 16-week internship which is a huge duration for industry exposure under the guidance of teachers.
