Ques. What is the Application process for NSD?
Ans. To apply to NSD, candidates will have to appear in the entrance examination conducted by the institute. The exam is conducted in two phases - preliminary and final rounds, where the first round consists of a written examination. The final round is a workshop round where students have to present acting skills, and an expert committee will assess the aptitude and talent of the candidate. Qualifying for these two rounds is mandatory to be selected for NSD.
Ques. Is there any age limit to apply for an NSD course?
Ans. NSD offers a diploma program, and to apply for the program, the candidate must have completed their graduation from a recognised University. However, the upper age limit to apply for the course is 30 years, and as per the Government of India rule, 5 years of age relaxation is provided to ST and SC category students, and 3 years for OBC category students.
Ques. Is the NSD a deemed University?
Ans. The Government of India granted NSD the status of a deemed university in 2005. However, in 2010, NSD asked to revoke the status, undermining the professional and training flexibility that is required in the creative field, marking it as the NSD society. In 2011, the deemed university status was revoked by the government.
