St Stephen's College Scholarships: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 72 Reviews

St. Stephen's College offers a variety of scholarships funded by the college, alumni, and international organizations, including ones from Japan and Cambridge. Scholarships are available for SC/ST students, economically weaker sections (EWS), and based on merit. Specific scholarships mentioned include the INSPIRE Scholarship (Rs. 60,000/year), Sumitomo Scholarship, Sanva Bank Scholarship, and Vikas Dhaka Scholarship. Typically, up to 20% of students receive freeships covering tuition, games, and library fees. The annual fee for non-resident students is approximately Rs.

40,000 to Rs. 45,000, while resident students pay around Rs. 1,20,000. The college offers financial assistance and loan support through fee concessions and helps students secure education loans from banks. College fees are higher compared to other Delhi University colleges but are considered affordable and value for money. There is no annual fee hike, and additional costs may arise from lab breakages or late library book returns. Scholarships are notified through assemblies and notice boards, and students apply by submitting a letter to the college office.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Our fees is 20-25k a semester and it depends on the year we are in as every year a small rise in fees has been observed. Amazing college of DU and probably the one which has more strength of female students than other co-ed colleges of DU.

Fees and Financial Aid:

I paid 22,250rs for my first semester. So the annual fees would be around 44,500rs, which is pretty affordable if you compare it with that of the Sonipat colleges. St. Stephen's gives you the same quality education and much greater exposure for a fraction of the fees paid. The fees go significantly lower for PwD students, which makes the college inclusive and accessible. The detailed fee division will be given in the fee receipt. Also SC/ST students can avail scholarships provided by the government.

Fees and Financial Aid:

I was in college hostel for 2 years. So I paid fees along with room and message facilities. The year wise fees that I paid is almost like 1.2 lakhs. Let's breakdown this into two semesters. We had to pay our term bill two times in one year so we can say semester-wise. Let's talk about one semester, tuition fees that I paid was 90, college student welfare fund was 1440, college development fees is 14000, college facilities and services charges are 4815, room charges from April to May are 11280 and from June to July is 11280 again which is very affordable. Mess charges from April to May is 9821. Room charges almost remain same for 1st and 2nd years. And message charges may vary depending upon the number of students and the quality of food. Per semester it almost becomes like 53000 that you have to pay within deadline otherwise extra charges may apply. Also in this term bill, library fine is also applied if you don't return books on time and lab breakage fine is also applied if you break some apparatus in lab expecially chemistry lab. Apart from this when you fill your exam form, according to the number of subjects you have taken which have practicals, you have to pay exam fees accordingly. For day scholars, per semester the term bill almost comes like 25000 including everything other than mess and room charges. The fees may seems high, but don't worry, there are many scholarships that are available to students from college, University and government. Alot of science students in our college including me got inspire scholarship for pursuing our studies. We get 60000 per year with the help of this scholarship funded by goverment. And there are many scholarships available to students from economically weaker sections and they can apply to these. For inspire scholarship, you need to get very good percentage in your 12th standard. If we talk of cbse, then you should get more than 94 percent. But this may vary every year. And this vary for every board. You must apply.

Fees and Financial Aid:

As per DU fee draft for 2024-25, the tutition fee for Sem I for general category is just 90rs. The rest of the fee includes University and College Student Welfare Funds, University and College Development Fund, University and College Facilitation Charges, EWS Support Fund and Student's Union Society Funds. They charge some amount for Chapel Subscription as well, every year. So on an average, the fee for each semester for a day scholar graduate student would be around 23000-24000. There might be additional fees charged on exam registration, and for other payments done for individual purchases by the student such as College ID Recharge, Merch, Calendars etc. The total fees therefore, is slightly higher than those in other DU Colleges.Scence students will be charged extra as Lab Fees. PWD Students are only charged forCollege Facilitation. There are significant reduction in fee structure of Staff Ward Students. Fees of EWS, OBC and Kashmiri Migrants Students are same as of General. Hostel students will incur extra charges- which Im not well aware of due to being a day scholar. The college provides freeships and scholarships for the financially weak. Apart from that, there are scholarships for meritorious students like Sumitomo, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Vikas Dhaka, Tiara etc.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fees structure of the college is completely affordable, apart from it from time to time the college provides financial assistance to the students from various departments under different national and international scholarships, Alumni scholarship to provide assistance to young talents. The fees charges are less for the PWD students but for the rest its the same and equivalent. Apart from it sumitomo scholarship , Singapore Stephanian merit cum need scholarship etc to provide assistance to students.
