Chemistry Honours course is basically for those who love chemistry or are planning to take Chemistry as a subject in the UPSC exam. The faculty is outstanding the ratio is about 1:5. All the faculty members are pretty qualified and have doctorates from IITs or other reputable institutions. Teachers pay extra attention to all the students. They are easy to communicate with and help them wherever necessary. Some teachers may slack in teaching but will still provide quite good notes. The teaching method is very interactive and notes are provided for all the topics and subjects. The notes provided are very good and are from diverse books. There is a fixed schedule for assignments and exams. They are easy to pass if studied from the notes well. The teachers also provide the research opportunities in the college and the information about the available ones outside of the college.
The teachers are good, and the syllabus is well covered in the class itself. The course in itself needs a lot of improvement as there are some topics which don't find application in the current times. I chose this course as I was interested in Chemistry
The faculty is great and experienced. They will help you find internships and projects to work on. Chemistry as a subject excited me and hence I decided to embark on this journey with Chemistry at Stephen's. The term exams are as scheduled by DU and they are on a moderate level.
The college has a teacher-student ratio of 1:9. The faculty is highly qualified and the overall growth of students is given a lot of importance. Teachers are knowledgeable and they help us in achieving our future endeavours. The syllabus is completed almost a week before the semester end and an ample amount of time is given for revision and doubt solving. Labs and practicals are given equal importance and regular checking is done.
The university has laid out a very detailed curriculum which is followed by all the DU colleges. It includes both the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. St. Stephen's college excels in academics and the teachers make sure of that. The teaching-learning process is very efficient and transparent and teachers are very welcoming to any suggestion that might improve the process further. Anyone who takes up this course here would come out as a more knowledgeable and better person.
One of the main reasons why I got enrolled in this college is the type of faculty that this college provides to its students. Faculty, truly speaking, is of exceptional standards. Our professors are holding a PhD degree and are really good when it comes to teaching. Eventually, the professor addresses to each and every query for all students in a class. Also, after class, one can even ask doubts in person. Even, assignments are given regularly and tests are held on a regular basis so as to evaluate students in a continuous manner.
The fee structure is feasible. The basic fee structure is around 20000 to 22000 per semester for day scholars. For students in residence, the fee comes to be around 50000 (approx). Rest transportation or food or like other expenses like participation in certain events or competitions etc are on the personal cost.
Below given table shows a comparison between the two of the best colleges under Delhi University to pursue B. Sc (Hons.) in Chemistry.

Academics:
According to previous year, the cut off for admission to Hindu college for B. Sc (hons.) in Chemistry was 96.66% and in St. Stephen's it was 92%. The faculty contingency in both the colleges is very well reputed, dedicated and felicitated having won many recognitions to their name. It is not justified to distinguish between the teachers as all are almost at par with academic qualifications, achievements but are restricted by curriculum and different teaching patterns. Both the colleges organize national conferences and workshops for the holistic development of the students and to gain industry exposure.
Placement Opportunities:
The key feature which sets Stephen's apart is that when it comes to applying abroad for higher studies or internships or fellowship programmes, a lot of graduates have had the opportunity to do so owing to the scholarships and collaborations with foreign universities like Oxford, Yale and Cambridge. It has a more disciplined and rigorous and calm aura about itself not being as actively a part of the very famous DU fests as compared to other colleges. There are many ongoing research projects funded by SERB and UGC. Top recruiters being Hetero drugs, Emami, Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education, BCG etc. offering a median salary of around 9LPA.
In the Hindu college, the median salary package for B. Sc in Chemistry at offer was 5LPA and average placement rate was low as most of the graduates sought to opt for higher studies. The top recruiters were DE Shaw, KPMG, IndiaBulls amongst others. Organizations like Empower India, Philip Morris International, Outlook rolled out internship opportunities too.
