PWC Patna Admissions: Students' Opinion

  • BCom

AI-Generated Summary based on 42 Reviews

Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) {Hons.} program at Patna Women's College primarily relies on 12th-grade cut-offs. The process avoids entrance exams, unlike institutions like Delhi University (DU). The cut-off for CBSE board students starts around 89%, while the Bihar State Board stands at approximately 82%. For each academic year, the admission process begins in May. As the intake for this program is limited to 200 students, multiple cut-off lists, typically totaling four, are released.

Initial cut-offs can be as high as 94%, eventually stabilizing around 90% in the final list. Patna Women's College is noted for its high academic standards, often compared to top colleges of DU. It stands out as a preferred choice for students seeking a robust commerce education without high tuition fees associated with private universities. With no option for direct or management quota admissions, students must rely on their board exam performance to secure a place in this prestigious program.

Admission are based on 12th scores and let me tell you that they aren't easy at all. Firstly it's a minority college and therefore Christian reservations are 20% and so cut-off for non Christian students hits 90 mark every year. In 2024 when I admitted it was 88 then but this year it was 91% cutoff for admission here.

Admission are granted on 12th cut-offs like for Bihar State Board the cut off was 82 and for CBSE board it was 89 for our course. So this is the process as college forms are out in May after the 12th results. Cut-off lists take a lot of time as intake of our course is 200 students and nearly 4 lists are our until final admissions are granted.

I had applied to DU, other than that I didn't apply into any other colleges because I was awaiting for my neet results.. My college organises it's own eligibility exam called PCUET, which takes place in around May, if the candidate get's 70 above grades in that exam they can get their preferred course. The admission procedure is really easy. You'll be assigned a date of exam and after getting the results there will be an admission date assigned to you when you take your results printout along with the admission form along with your photograph and submit it to the office, then the sister principal meets and greets you, tells you more about the college and approves your admission. Later you can go to purchase your college uniform (which is ment to be worn twice a week only) . This is provided in the college premises only. Later to that you'll be assigned a date of your orientation where you'll be informed all about our college facilities, placement offers, clubs and college motto and anthem.
