What are the students' opinions about admission to MCC Bangalore?
As per Arpitha MV, a student of B.Com, General, at MCC Bangalore. Starting with the admission, the student applied to St. Joseph College of Commerce and Sheshadripuram College of Commerce. Admission to Sheshadripuram was secured by meeting cutoff marks, while rejection at SJCC due to low marks led to choosing Mount Carmel College (MCC) for its reputation, convenient location, and popular fests. The MCC admission process involved filling an online form, walk-in admissions, document verification, and paying 50% fees to confirm the seat. The course curriculum covers practical subjects like banking essentials, e-banking, cryptocurrency, and stock markets, providing real-world applicable knowledge, although there is room for improvement in guiding precise application of this knowledge. The class size is 90 with yearly fees of INR 135,600. Internships with companies like Amazon pay around 3 LPA, and placements begin after semester 4 with companies such as Deloitte and Goldman Sachs visiting campus; 96% of students are placed. Campus life is peaceful with vibrant cultural fests, well-equipped libraries, and clubs requiring auditions. Faculty are approachable and supportive, though the sports department lacks organization. Nightlife is limited and safe overall, with popular hangout spots on and off campus. The student plans to work for 3-4 years post-degree and pursue an MBA at a reputed institute. Read More

AI-Generated Summary based on 71 Reviews

Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program at Mount Carmel College (MCC) is highly competitive due to its reputation and demand. Students applying need to secure board results in the range of 75%-80% to be considered eligible, with a higher cutoff for the B.Com International Accounting and Finance (IAF) specialization. The admission process is initiated online via the college portal, where candidates fill out an application form. Following online application confirmation, applicants must present their documents in person for verification, and pay 50% of the tuition fee to secure their seat.

The college operates on a merit basis primarily, but in cases where students do not meet provisional merit criteria, an aptitude test is conducted covering areas like logical reasoning, mathematics, and English, followed by an interview involving both student and parents. Direct admission or management quota is not highlighted in the provided data. Admission rounds are dependent on board results, and seats are generally filled in two rounds, adopting a first-come-first-served approach.

MCC's campus location is often chosen for its convenience in terms of commuting. The admission process, though detailed, emphasizes ensuring that candidates meet all criteria thoroughly before admission confirmation. MCC stands out for offering a balanced academic and co-curricular environment with multiple departmental events enhancing student engagement beyond academics.

Admission:

I did apply to BHU and Delhi university and also Christ university. I did get accepted to Christ and the other i didn't make it. My reason for not going to Christ was only that I felt MCC would be a better choice for me in case of everything. The other colleges I didn't make were because of my CUET results and also few of them I did not even check as the results came out too late. The admission eligibility is just getting a 60% in your 12th and then an interview will be set up and if one gets selected they will recieve an email regarding so and then they need to pay the given fees. Rest of the admission process is smooth.

I applied to St. Joseph College of Commerce and Sheshadripuram college of commerce. From these I got a confirmation from Sheshadripuram college as I was meeting their cutoff needs. Whereas in SJCC I didn't get a confirmation and I got rehected dur to my 1st puc marks as they were quite low and the cutoff percentage there was high. So I dropped the plan and chose MCC as this is oke of the top commerce college in Bengaluru and also one of my favorites due to their famous college fests and their faculty. I chose this over others because this was quite near to my location and was convenient and also it had a good reputation than the other colleges. The admission process here is simple, first I had to fill in the online application form and there were walk-in admissions and after that I visited my college showed them my application and my eligibility was met and after that I was guided to the counter of verifying documents and at last the fee payment counter and finally after paying 50 percent of my fee amount my seat was booked and I got in. I thought the admission process was a bit lengthy but overall a good experience.

Self-reflect and objectivity the factors that influenced my decision making. The desire for close friendships, frequent outings, and academic success while maintaining a carefree attitude were common aspirations. The oft-heard advice from elders to “study hard during your school days and enjoy college life” echoed in my ears but that's not true as we know:') I didn't get to go through a rejection as I was selected right after i applied in MCC so I couldn't actually get reject their offer. About the admission process, we were asked to pay the first year's whole fees the same day as walk in interview, I feel they could have given some time generally.
