Central Electro Chemical Research Institute was founded in the year 1948. It is constituent of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.The institute offers Bachelor and Masters in Chemical & Electrochemical Engineering

• The campus is spread over 300 acres comprises of 4 classrooms, drawing halls, canteen, hostels etc.
• CSIR-CECRI, over the years, has published about 5500 papers, filed 750 patents, developed 250 technologies and carried over 600 Projects
• There are four extension centers for CECRI, located at Chennai, Cochin, Mandapam and Tuticorin.
• The institute is located in Karaikudi which 90km from Madurai and Tirchirappalli

Library of the institute has rich collection of resources in the areas of electrochemistry and allied disciplines. Library consists of:

• 48000 books, 7500 patents, 2800 standards and 2700 technical reports
• Access to over 3500 online 1journals
• 25 national and 67 international journals

ICT:

There are 50 computers with 8mbps internet facility. Computers have operating system like Windows 7, Windows 2003 server, Linux with VASP, Gaussian, Origin-8, Wiren 2K, Maple -12(General purpose Mathematical solver, Comfol, Matlab etc. software.

Laboratory:

The college has well-equipped 12 lab for practical learning.
