Govt. College of Physical Education, Bhubaneswar is an imperial college in physical education and was started in 1957 with an aim to advance and spread the physical education among the youth of the state. It took its outset in a rental portion of Barabati stadium of Cuttack. Even women candidates were admitted, and B. P. Ed courses were further added in the year 1980 and 1985 respectively to meet the advanced professional training. The college was then transferred to Kalinga stadium. From the last more than 20 years, Govt. College of Physical Education has been producing well-trained teachers in physical education.

Eligibility Criteria
The first and second year fees of Government College of Physical Education Bhubaneshwar B.P.Ed. are INR 7,984 and INR 2,540 respectively.
For the 3-4 year duration course, the students should have cleared their 10+2 exams from a recognized board. Candidates who have studied physical education as a subject in 12th are preferred. For the 1-2 year duration course, the students should have completed their graduation from a recognized institute and should have scored at least 50% aggregate marks. They should also have some experience in sports and should have participated in sports competitions at inter-college, inter-school, or individual levels, which are recognized by the government or the concerned authorities.
