How is campus life at SJCC?

The SJCC campus, although small and centrally placed on Brigade Road, is filled with student activity. It boasts of smart classrooms, seminar halls, finance labs, sports courts, an amphitheater, and a chapel. The college is famous for having energetic fests, student clubs, outreach activities, and entrepreneurship activities. Both in academics and co-curriculars, SJCC provides a complete development atmosphere to every student.

What is the process of internal assessments at SJCC?

Internal assessments at SJCC are ongoing and comprehensive. Every subject has two internal tests, assignments or projects, and class participation as part of it. Internals have a weightage of 3040% depending upon the course structure, while the remaining marks are tested in end-semester exams. Test timetables are normally publicized prior to the test, and absence from a test necessitates a legitimate reason accompanied by permission from the HoD for retakes. Work is either individual or group work and is commonly in the form of presentations, case studies, or written reports. Internal marks are uploaded on the student portal, and continuous monitoring of performances gives assurance that students know their position in the semester.

What clubs and associations are there at SJCC?

SJCC has a rich mix of student clubs and associations that form the core of campus life. Ranging from academic clubs such as the Commerce Association, Entrepreneurs' Cell (E-Cell), and Finance Club to cultural squads like the Dramatics Club, Western and Indian Music Teams, and Fashion Team. There are interest-based clubs as well, such as the Literary Club, Quiz Club, Debating Society, and Photography Club. These are joined during the annual club orientation and are urged to actively participate throughout the year. Leadership positions in these clubs are much sought after, and students participate in inter-college events and national-level events under their name. Active participation in clubs also leads to internal evaluation and is awarded during convocation.

Are there international student exchange programs in SJCC?

Yes, SJCC maintains active international partnerships and exchange programs with colleges in Europe, the USA, and Southeast Asia. Some of these partner colleges include those in France, Germany, and Singapore. Selected students may take part in short-term academic exchanges, whereby they stay in partner colleges for a semester or for a few weeks over the summer, as the case may be based on agreement. These exchanges are competitive, usually merit-based on academic performance, communication skills, and co-curricular activities.

When do I enroll in placement training at SJCC?

For SJCC placement training, enroll for placement training in your second year of undergraduate or postgraduate study. Placement training is compulsory for students who intend to go through the formal placement process in their final year. The following is what you have to do:Go to the College Office and enroll in the 30-hour Skill Development Training.Take a copy of the receipt and record the receipt number (this will be required for subsequent steps).Complete the placement registration form.Provide a copy of your completed form to the placement officer.Keep a copy of the form for your records.Training workshops will comprise resume writing, communication skills, interviewing skills, and aptitude practice, so it's important to tackle this step seriously.

Can I withdraw after registering for a placement drive?

No, after you have registered for a particular company's placement procedure and have done the online test or assessment, you cannot withdraw your candidacy.Grounds for enforcing this:Companies make shortlists based on the initial number of registrations and assessments.Withdrawal at the middle stage tarnishes the image of the student and the institution alike.It may affect SJCC's future tie-up with the company.You are supposed to conduct your research on the company information prior to registering and only engage if you are seriously interested in the opportunity.

A comprehensive review of my experience at SJCC

The clubs are very interactive and fun making extra curricular actives fun as everyone has to be part of one club minimum.
The course is adjusted to CIMA syllabus so I dont have to study separately for my CIMA exams.
College has a good placement cell that helps all the students get placed.

Internships Opportunities:

Milano, Gud Gum, SportsCentric, SuprMentor, BusinessSherpa, RS Academy, and many other companies offer internships with major focus on accounting, business logistics and content creation. Helps shape the student into an entrepreneur by teaching core values of business such as Finance, Marketing and Operations.

I am very glad to be studying in SJCC

Likes

The location of the college is very accessible as it is located in the heart of the city. The college also has a very high rate for placements.
The cafeteria of the college is also very good as they have delicious food and there are 2 more external cafeterias within the campus
The timings of the college also is another major aspect that I liked. There are two batches held , the first batch is from 7am-11am and the second batch is held from 12pm-4pm.

Dislikes

The fact that the B.A program does not have a morning batch.

Internships Opportunities:

Goldman Sachs, EY global delivery services, Nalapad academy, SPRY and Accenture The eligibility for the internship lies with the attendance and the performance of the candidates the college also makes sure that every student has done an internship

Faculty and the environment of the collage with the beautiful view of college
Teachers and staffs are really friendly and canteen food is amazing

The water provided in campus is not up to the quality
Just that campus is bit small and compact
The turf is small where accommodation becomes an issue

TY WIPRO GOOGLE MICROSOFT ETC Provide interships some company don't pay the inters cuz few students just work for resume improvement but there are few company's which pays them good amount and the role assigned is decent

The SJCC story

Likes

The coordination of different shifts, as there are two shifts (morning and afternoon), the college does a great job in alloting the class for ppl properly so that there is no commotion
The students and staff, all are very friendly, u will not know that you are entering a new space, they will make u feel comfortable, the ppl of sjcc is very kind if u give respect, but vice versa
The availablity, even though the campus is small, the resources, opportunities and knowledge u will get is immense, the thing about sjcc is "don't judge a book by it's cover".

Dislikes

The campus size, as for sports, there are sports, all type of sports, but the ground size is not that big, it will be difficult for any sports activities to take place, but it's possible
The strictness, even though its required for the betterment and safety of the students, sometimes I think it is too much.

Internships Opportunities:

As for internships, as for now the college is not popular for that, but the guidance you get for internships is really worth, not only that there are many certificate courses for all three years, boosting the students knowledge and experience.

Management and Clean campus with canteens
Fresh fruit stalls and computer labs , placements

Dislikes

Size of the campus , some times can be over crowded
Timings during exams , it can be very early or very late sometimes
Parking space is quite small compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Students are supposed to make a resume and can start applying for their jobs during third year they can take up extra courses as it would be add ons to their resume companies like goldman sachs ,EY and KPMG come here for hiring

The Faculty as well as the Infrastructure of the college as it provides all the necessary things to students
The placement opportunities, there a lot of them who gets opportunity from these placement.

Dislikes

Nothing much to tell only disadvantage is the campus being small when compared to other colleges.

Placement Experience:

Students eligable for placement are the ones who have hot 8 or more in their CGPA. Around 15% of the students gets placed. The average package is 20,00,000 p.a. All big 4 companies come here for recruitment. My plan is to get into tourism field.

Likes

Very good people and nice atmosphere all around
Short class duration which can help CA students
Very accessible to metro and other modes of transport

Dislikes

Lack of professional teachers, they focus on discipline too much
The studies are not at par with many other colleges
Don’t prepare us a lot on real life skills

Internships Opportunities:

Internships are very easily accessible and the college also mandates a social and a corporate internship during the entire college period. I would say it is usually unpaid internships and they focus more on menial tasks than actual difficult ones
