SSIM FPM FAQs
Ques. Is the FPM from SSIM equivalent to a Ph.D. degree? Will it be recognised for faculty positions?
Ans. The FPM (Fellow Programme in Management) from SSIM is an AICTE-approved doctoral-level programme. Upon successful completion, the student is conferred the title "Fellow in Management" by SSIM. As per AICTE norms, FPM from AICTE-approved institutions is recognised as equivalent to a Ph.D. for faculty positions in AICTE-approved management institutions. However, for UGC-regulated university positions, candidates should verify recognition with the specific institution.
Ques. What is the SRAT exam at SSIM? How is it different from UGC NET?
Ans. SRAT (SSIM Research Aptitude Test) is SSIM's own entrance test for FPM/EFPM admissions. It tests research aptitude, analytical ability, and management knowledge. UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is a national-level exam conducted by NTA for JRF and Assistant Professor eligibility. Both SRAT and UGC NET scores are accepted for FPM admission at SSIM. Candidates who have already qualified UGC NET can use that score instead of appearing for SRAT.
Ques. What are the areas of specialisation available in the FPM at SSIM?
Ans. The FPM at SSIM offers specialisations in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management (HRM), Strategy, Operations, Analytics, and Communications. The specialisation is chosen based on the scholar's research interest and the availability of a suitable faculty guide. The coursework in Term II includes three stream-specific courses based on the chosen specialisation.
Ques. Can a working professional apply for the FPM at SSIM?
Ans. The FPM at SSIM is a full-time programme. Working professionals who wish to pursue doctoral research should note that the stipend scheme is available only for scholars who are not employed elsewhere. However, SSIM also offers an EFPM (Executive Fellow Programme in Management) for working professionals. Candidates should check the EFPM details separately if they wish to continue working while pursuing the programme.
Ques. What are the publication requirements for completing the FPM at SSIM?
Ans. For the award of the Fellow in Management title, scholars must fulfil the following requirements: (1) publish two papers in SCOPUS/ABDC indexed journals, (2) present two papers at national/international conferences, and (3) write a case study. These requirements ensure that FPM graduates have a strong research portfolio, making them competitive for faculty positions at premier management institutions.
Ques. How long does the FPM at SSIM take to complete? What happens if I cannot complete it in 3 years?
Ans. The FPM at SSIM has a minimum duration of 3 years (1 year coursework + minimum 2 years thesis work). The maximum duration is 5 years from the date of admission. In exceptional circumstances, the programme can be extended twice by one year each, subject to approval by the competent authority. The thesis can only be submitted after a minimum of 2 years from the registration of the thesis proposal. Progress is reviewed every six months by the Research Advisory Committee.
