About SPJIMR PGDM Business Management

SPJIMR teaches the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management as a two-year, full-time residential programme in Mumbai, and every participant lives on campus. The institute holds AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditation and sits at #8 in Collegedunia's MBA ranking 2026. Only 120 seats are approved, and they go to Indian nationals. RequirementWhat you need
DegreeA bachelor's degree in any subject, 10+2+3
Marks50% or the same in CGPA at graduation
ExamCAT of the same year, or a GMAT of the last three years

SPJIMR PGDM Business Management Admission Process

SPJIMR reads your profile before it reads your score, so the form matters as much as the exam. The mistake that costs a seat is filling the form in the last week with a thin write-up.

StepWhat you do
1. Take the examSit CAT 2026, or use a GMAT taken in the last three years
2. Fill the formApply on the SPJIMR admission portal and pay the form fee
3. Profile shortlistSPJIMR shortlists on profile, then on profile with the score
4. Two interviewsSit two rounds of personal interview in one of four cities
5. Take the offerAccept the offer, pay the fee and join on campus in June

SPJIMR PGDM Business Management Cutoff

SPJIMR publishes one minimum for every category, and it has stayed at 85 percentile for four years in a row. Clearing it only gets your form read; the shortlist is decided on your profile.

Should you pick PGDM (BM) at SPJIMR?

This course suits students who want a small cohort, a fully residential campus in Mumbai and a general management path.

Pick it if:
You are a fresher or have up to 5 years of work: SPJIMR reads the profile before the score, so a clear story counts as much as the exam.
You want to pick your own mix of courses: this programme fixes no specialisation, so you build the second year around the job you want.
You care about payback: the average pay of the 2026 batch is more than the whole fee, so one working year covers it.
You are ready to live on campus: every participant stays in the hostel, and a basic room is already inside the fee.
Skip it if:
You want to use an old exam score: SPJIMR takes a CAT of the same year only, though a GMAT of the last three years still works.
You need to keep living at home: this is a fully residential programme and every participant stays on campus for two years.
You want food and travel inside the fee: the fee covers tuition and a basic room only, so mess and travel come out of your pocket.
You are counting on an easier cutoff this year: the published minimum has stayed at 85 percentile for four years in a row.
Counsellor's advice
If you have less than five years of work, do not leave the form to the last week: SPJIMR reads the profile before the score, and a rushed write-up shows. If money is tight, ask about the merit help that opens in July.
PGDM (BM) Eligibility
Degree needed: A bachelor's degree in any subject, with at least 50% marks or the same in CGPA.
Exam needed: A CAT score from the same year, or a GMAT score from the last three years.
Overall cutoff: 85 percentile or more in that exam, and the same number for every category.
Section cutoff: 75 percentile or more in at least one section of the exam you use.
Work experience: Not needed. Freshers and people with up to five years of work both apply.
PGDM (BM) Admission Process
Take the exam: Sit CAT 2026 on 29 Nov 2026, or use a GMAT taken in the last three years.
Fill the form: The window opens in the middle of September and shuts at the end of November.
Pay the form fee: INR 2,000 for one programme, or INR 3,000 if you apply to both PGDM courses.
Get shortlisted: SPJIMR reads your profile first, then your profile with the exam score.
Sit two interviews: Two rounds of personal interview in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru or Delhi.
Take the offer: Offers go out after the interviews and classes start in June on campus.

In short
MDI Gurgaon asks for a CAT percentile ten points higher and charges INR 2 Lakhs more, while SPJIMR paid more on average last year. If your percentile clears both, take the smaller cohort here.
In short
IMT Ghaziabad costs INR 1.86 Lakhs less and takes far more students, but its average pay sits well below this one. If the fee is your hard limit, that seat is safer; if pay is, this one pays back faster.
In short
IMI Delhi charges more, pays less and splits its seats across three tracks. If you want one cohort and a general management path, keep SPJIMR above it in your list.
In short
IIM Indore costs about the same and asks for five percentile points more, and its batch is four times bigger. If you want a small cohort and a Mumbai campus, take this seat.

Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.

FAQs on SPJIMR PGDM Business Management

Short answers to what students ask before they apply.

How do I get admission to this course?
Take CAT 2026 or use a GMAT from the last three years, then fill the SPJIMR form before it shuts at the end of November. SPJIMR shortlists on your profile, then on your profile with the score. Shortlisted people sit two interview rounds.
What is the full fee for the course?
The full 2-year fee is INR 24.86 Lakhs. It covers tuition and a basic hostel room. Mess, travel and personal spending are charged apart from it, so keep money aside for food.
What CAT percentile do I need?
You need 85 percentile or more overall and 75 percentile or more in at least one section. The same minimum holds for every category. Clearing it gets your form read, not a seat.
Do I have to live on campus?
Yes. This is a fully residential programme and every participant stays on campus for two years. A basic room is already inside the programme fee.
Which scholarships can cut this fee?
The calculator above lists the schemes this course takes. One outside scholarship pays a fixed amount to a few participants each year, and the institute cuts part or all of the tuition for people who show need.
When does the next application window open?
The form opens in the middle of September and shuts at the end of November. The dates block above walks the whole cycle, from the exam to the day classes start.
How many seats are there?
120 seats are approved, and all of them go to Indian nationals. That is why the shortlist is tight even though the published cutoff looks easy.

How was the interview experience at the SPJIMR PGDM course for information management?

Anumita Ghosestudied at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research

For SPJIMR, there are two rounds of interviews. These are both group interviews, with the first one focusing on inquiries related to your chosen field of expertise and the second round focusing on your morals and values.

In my friend’s case, no questions about information management were asked, but there were times when inquiries about the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and other hot subjects in this industry were made. It is best to arrive prepared according to your chosen specialization and to have some knowledge of the other specializations, such as finance, operations, and marketing. Everyone in the group was required to express their opinion on a particular supply chain problem, regardless of the field they chose to study. There are no domain-specific questions in the second round.

What is the difference if I choose FMS (Delhi), JBIMS (Mumbai) or SJSOM-IIT Bombay over IIM-B, SPJIMR and other such institutes that charge hefty for MBA courses?

Aastha Shrimali
Advait JoshiLives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Choosing a B-school can be a tricky decision especially when it comes to ROI. I understand that ROI is one of the most important factors when it comes to MBA courses since funding your education with loans come with its own set of challenges. But the institutes that you have mentioned above certainly surpass the challenges since they belong to the tier 1 category.

You might come across articles and blogs stating that FMS or JBIMS do not provide a typical MBA environment but for me, that discussion does not even make sense. What is an MBA environment after all? You spent 2 years of your life at the campus and wish to land a good job. FMS, JBIMS, and IIT Bombay all three have good market reputations, they home the best candidates and charge minimal fees. So, if ROI is even a little bit of a concern for you, go for these colleges without any second thought or regret.

Does SPJIMR have a different course structure and calendar than the IIMs and other top B schools? If so, is it better?

Hardik NagarLives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

There are a few differences in the course calendar of SPJIMR and the IIMs that you should be aware of.

The major difference is that SPJIMR's flagship 2-year MBA course has Autumn Internship while IIMs have Summer Internship. In Autumn Internship, you will have completed most of your first-year B-school knowledge, which is a plus point when applying for corporate internships. Additionally, SPJIMR's famous Sem-III, which is a semester for Specialization courses, would have been completed by then. During this semester, you will undergo live projects which is like a near-internship experience and helps you a lot in your actual internship. However, this can keep you away from interacting with students from other B-Schools, unlike in the case of the Summer Internship. During the Autumns Internship selection process, roles are Specialization Specific, and having completed Sem-III restricts the roles you can take outside of your specialization.

With the completion of the Autumn Internship, the final placement season is usually 3/4 months away, giving companies time to roll out PPI/PPO wisely and allowing students to choose prudently between PPI/PPO and the option to be part of Final placements. However, this can leave students with less time for preparation for finals if they don't get PPI/PPO or reject those.

There are also a few minor differences in the course calendar. For example, in the summer, SPJIMR has Social Internship, whereas IIMs have a corporate internship. Additionally, in the mid-second year, SPJIMR students fly to the US for Fast-Track Learning, which is not available in IIMs. The second year for SPJIMR students is mostly busy with Sem-III then GFT then Autumns Internship. Thus SPJIMR students take part in corporate competitions (likes of LIME, Mahindra War Room, TBLA, etc.) during the first year itself, although this is just a norm. SPJIMR also offers numerous Minors (viz. Analytics, Finance, Consulting, Strategy, etc.). But the Analytics semester overlaps with International Exchange Semester. This means students can either do a Minor in SPJIMR OR an International Exchange at Foreign Universities.

Overall, while the timing of the internships is different, SPJIMR's Autumn Internship can be an advantage for you, and the live projects in Sem-III can provide you with valuable experience. However, you should also consider the minor differences and how they may affect your interests and goals.

Is a 4-year tri city BBA course of SPJ better than a 5-year IPM at IIM Indore?

Charu MalikStudied at Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (2021)

IPM does not offer a BBA degree but you will receive a BA degree for your undergrad coursework (Foundations in Management). The subjects taught at the undergraduate level are vastly different from those taught in any other BBA program. Any decision based on an assumption about the IPM curriculum can land you in big trouble.

Returning to the question, I'm not familiar with the specifics of the four-year Tri-City programme, but I'm sure it entails a lot of learning from an institute like SPJ.

  • Having said that, IPM and the aforementioned course can be compared on the same scale.
  • Two degrees from IIM Indore (one of which is the regular MBA that other PGP participants are entitled to) is an incredible value that cannot be matched by any other BBA programme in the country.
  • Other benefits include the environment and opportunities that come with being a student at an IIM.

Comparisons can be made when other IIMs launch courses similar to IPM, which does not appear to be happening anytime soon. Until then, IPM would be a clear winner in terms of undergrad management education.
