BIMTECH PGDM-RM FAQs

Ques. Is BIMTECH's PGDM-RM only for students who want to work in physical retail stores?

Ans. No. The programme covers the full spectrum of modern retail including e-commerce, quick commerce (Q-Commerce), omnichannel retail, retail analytics, and digital marketing. Graduates are placed not just in physical retail chains but also in e-commerce companies, FMCG firms, retail consulting, banking (retail banking), and edutech companies. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the evolving, tech-enabled retail landscape.

Ques. What is the On-the-Job Training (OJT) component in PGDM-RM at BIMTECH?

Ans. The OJT is a four-credit course in Trimester III that provides students with real-time experience in retail store operations with top retail brands. Unlike a regular internship, OJT is integrated into the curriculum and gives students hands-on exposure to store management, visual merchandising, customer handling, and retail operations while they are still in the programme.

Ques. How does BIMTECH's tie-up with the Retailers Association of India (RAI) benefit PGDM-RM students?

Ans. The strategic tie-up with RAI, Mumbai provides students with access to industry events, networking opportunities with retail leaders, guest lectures from senior retail professionals, and insights into the latest retail trends and policies. RAI's network also supports internship and placement opportunities with its member companies, which include leading retail chains across India.

Ques. What is the difference between PGDM-RM and PGDM Core at BIMTECH in terms of career outcomes?

Ans. PGDM-RM is a specialised programme focused exclusively on the retail sector, with dedicated courses in Mall Management, Buying and Merchandising, Category Management, Visual Merchandising, Quick Commerce, and Retail Simulation. PGDM Core offers broader management education with electives across multiple domains. PGDM-RM graduates are specifically sought after by retail companies, while PGDM Core graduates have a wider range of industry options.

Ques. Can I apply for PGDM-RM at BIMTECH with a MAT score? What is the minimum percentile?

Ans. Yes, MAT is accepted for PGDM-RM. The minimum MAT percentile for shortlisting based on the 2025-27 batch was 70. However, these are reference figures and actual cutoffs may vary each year. The final merit list also considers PI performance, academic record, and work experience, so a strong overall profile can compensate for a borderline entrance score.

Ques. What emerging retail topics are covered in the PGDM-RM curriculum at BIMTECH?

Ans. The curriculum specifically addresses emerging retail trends including Quick Commerce (Q-Commerce), Omnichannel Retail, Retail Analytics (using R and Python), Digital Marketing, E-commerce, and Visual Merchandising. These topics ensure that graduates are equipped to handle the rapidly evolving, technology-driven retail environment and are not limited to traditional brick-and-mortar retail knowledge.
