GRDCS BBA FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between BBA (General) and BBA (Retail Management) at GRDCS, and which one should I choose?
Ans. GRDCS offers two BBA variants: BBA (General) and BBA (Retail Management). BBA (General) covers broad business management subjects including marketing, finance, HR, and entrepreneurship, making it suitable for students who want flexibility in their career options. BBA (Retail Management) is a specialized programme focused on retail operations, supply chain, merchandising, and consumer behaviour, ideal for students interested in careers in retail chains, e-commerce, and FMCG companies. If you are unsure about your career direction, BBA (General) offers more flexibility. If you are specifically interested in retail or e-commerce, BBA (Retail Management) is the better choice.
Ques. Is the BBA at GRDCS affiliated to Bharathiar University, and is the degree valid for government jobs and higher studies?
Ans. Yes, the BBA at GRDCS is affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, and the degree is awarded by Bharathiar University. GRDCS is an autonomous college, meaning it has its own curriculum design within the Bharathiar University framework. The degree is recognized by UGC and is valid for government job applications, higher education (MBA, MIB, etc.), and competitive exams. Graduates can also apply for MBA programmes at GR Damodaran Academy of Management (GRDAM), the management institute within the same GRD group.
Ques. What are the placement opportunities after BBA from GRDCS, and what companies recruit from the campus?
Ans. GRDCS has an active placement cell that conducts campus recruitment drives. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, and other IT and management firms visit the campus. The placement rate at GRDCS ranges from 60-70% for management courses. The average salary package for BBA graduates is around Rs. 3-4 LPA for entry-level positions. Students interested in placements are advised to actively participate in the college's placement preparation programmes, internships, and skill development workshops offered during the course.
Ques. What is the total cost of studying BBA at GRDCS, including hostel?
Ans. The tuition fee for BBA at GRDCS is Rs. 40,500 for the entire 3-year programme (Rs. 13,500 per year). For students who wish to stay in the hostel, the additional cost is approximately Rs. 45,000 per year for room rent and Rs. 80,000 per year for mess charges (food), with a one-time refundable caution deposit of Rs. 15,000. So the total cost for a hostel student over 3 years would be approximately Rs. 40,500 (tuition) + Rs. 3,75,000 (hostel + food for 3 years) = approximately Rs. 4,15,500, excluding the refundable deposit. Day scholars only pay the tuition fee of Rs. 40,500 for the full programme.
Ques. Can I pursue MBA directly after BBA from GRDCS, and what are the options?
Ans. Yes, BBA graduates from GRDCS are eligible to pursue MBA after completing their degree. Options include: MBA at GR Damodaran Academy of Management (GRDAM), the management institute within the same GRD group in Coimbatore; MBA at other colleges affiliated to Bharathiar University or other universities; and MBA at national-level institutions through CAT, MAT, XAT, or TANCET scores. GRDCS's BBA curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation for MBA, covering core management subjects that are directly relevant to MBA coursework. Students are advised to start preparing for MBA entrance exams (CAT/MAT/TANCET) from the 2nd year of BBA itself.
Ques. What is the admission process for BBA at GRDCS, and when do admissions typically open?
Ans. BBA admissions at GRDCS open the day after Tamil Nadu +2 (Higher Secondary) results are declared, which is typically in mid-May each year. The admission process is merit-based and straightforward: candidates apply online or offline, submit their 10+2 mark sheets and other documents, and are shortlisted based on aggregate marks. The entire admission process is typically completed within 2-3 weeks of the results. Candidates from other states (CBSE, ISC boards) may contact the college in May to register their interest in advance, as their results may be declared earlier. No entrance exam, group discussion, or interview is required for BBA admission.
