My Honest Experience at Walchand College

The faculty members are quite experienced and helpful. Most of them teach very well and try to clear our doubts properly. Few professors are really motivating and guide us in projects or career related stuff too. But still I feel some teachers depend

Dislikes

few teachers still follow old teaching methods and mostly read from slides instead of explaining concepts deeply. Also, sometimes practical sessions are not taken seriously, and the lab equipment are little outdated.

Faculty:

The faculty members in our college are quite good overall…… Most of them are well qualified and have decent teaching experience…… The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:40 or 1:50 which is fine because teachers are usually available whenever we need any help…… They are quite approachable and friendly in nature…… we can easily go to them after class and clear doubts or ask for guidance regarding mini projects, lab work or even placements…… Some of the faculties I personally liked a lot…… like our Computer Programming teacher, she explains everything in such a simple and clear way that even difficult logic becomes easy to understand…… she gives real life examples while teaching which actually makes the subject interesting…… also our Engineering Mathematics sir is one of the best…… he is very patient and always ready to solve doubts even after lectures…… he motivates students to focus on concepts rather than rote learning…… these kinds of teachers actually make us enjoy studying…… There are also few faculties who I didn’t like much…… not because they are bad people but their teaching methods are too traditional…… they just read from slides or notes without explaining properly…… sometimes they rush the syllabus only to finish it fast…… due to this we hardly understand anything and have to study on our own later…… also a few teachers rarely take practical sessions seriously which is a bit disappointing…… The course structure is quite well planned…… every semester we have around 6 to 8 subjects including theory, practicals and labs…… most of the subjects are related to current technologies and industry trends…… though some topics feel a bit outdated and could be replaced with more modern ones…… still the overall curriculum is good for building strong basics……

Faculty:

All the faculties are very friendly with students and always ready to help students in their academic activities. Sufficient number of facilities are available for each and every subject. Name of the some faculties I like Dr. Madhale sir, Dr. B. N. Jamadar sir, Miss. Sabina Jamadar mam. I like teaching and friendly behaviour of these faculties very much. About exams there are three exams in each semester namely Mid semester examination, In-semester evaluation & End semester examination. Mid-Sem Examination is of 30 marks, In sem examination of 20 marks, End sem examination of 50 marks. Total marks for each subject - 100 To pass in a subject a student must get at least 20 marks in End semester examination & at least 40 marks out of 100. I.e midsem+insem+endsem=>40 marks. Almost 90% students clear/ pass in all subject in a semester. Syllabus/course content is well designed according to the NEP 2020.

Some faculty is not teaching well, they just cover syllabus.

Faculty:

Course structure is good but exams are really tough. You have to develop skills by yourself . For that there is many clubs that provide facilities. Some faculty is really good in teaching as well as behaviour .

Another thing are the lectures, teachers and the technology that is used to teach the students. There are VR gadegts, smart boards, projects, dedicated labs, equipments and all the other things that are required is already present at the campus
The things I liked are the club culture and the interaction between seniors and juniors. Being the president of a club in past I actually experienced all the doubts and issues of my students. They were very open about it and always came to seniors

Dislikes

The behaviour of some faculties is really bad for students

Faculty:

The faculty to student ration for CSE department for previous years was very low and it was easily visible but they have appointed now staff for now and it is working out good but only quantitatively not qualitatively. faculties like shah madam, momin sir are really good at what they do, they have the art of teaching I might say. there are some faculties I wont name them but they are not prepared for the lectures and sometimes we have to tell them that they have a lecture on our class. some members are not interested in what is going in the class they just stand there read the ppt and go away. There are 2 written exams mid sem : 30 marks and end sem : 50 marks and 20 marks for internals.

No faculty is not that good. We have to cover most of the part of the syllabus by ourselves, which is really Frustating. Like we have 9 to 5:30 this much time in college still didn't understand anything. This is my perceptive may be there are also students who understands everything. Exams are in three phase ise, mse, and finally ese. They are of medium level.
