Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must hold a M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Sc. / MCA in Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent from a recognised university, with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate marks (50 percent for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates).

All candidates must appear for a personal interview at SJBIT to assess research aptitude. Candidates with a valid CS (Computer Science and Information Technology) GATE score, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET (including JRF), SLET, or equivalent are exempt from the VTU RET written test but must still attend the interview.

Part-time candidates must be employed in a relevant organisation and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of admission.

Admission Process

Step 1: Register for the VTU Research Entrance Test (RET) at vtu.ac.in, or confirm your GATE/NET/SLET exemption status before applying.

Step 2: Appear for the VTU RET in Computer Science and Engineering (if applicable).

Step 3: Clear the RET cut-off and receive an interview call from SJBIT.

Step 4: Attend the personal interview; submit a research proposal on your intended doctoral area.
