GCAC Kolkata Placement FAQs

Ques. Do students rely on campus recruitments at GCAC Kolkata?

Ans. Students usually do not rely on campus placements. Careers in art and design are hugely portfolio-based. Thus, students also look for personal projects, exhibition and workshop opportunities, and freelancing gigs. The college does offer limited placement assistance, but in a creative field like fine arts, it is more advisable to focus on personal improvement and individual performance.

Ques. Which job positions do GCAC Kolkata graduates usually secure?

Ans. Typically, candidates begin in creative roles. For example, the most common job titles are graphic designers, animators, illustrators, advertising professionals, and publishing designers. Some graduates find work at media houses or design studios, while others may work as freelancers or on briefs. In general, where a graduate finds employment after graduation depends on several factors: the portfolio of their work, project completion or related experience, their preferences, their skills, and so forth.

Ques. Is there any career support or training prior to placements at GCAC Kolkata?

Ans. GCAC Kolkata provides some type of placement assistance and training through workshops, exhibitions, and mentorship of community events, where students can have experience and networking from participants associated with our networks and projects. We encourage students to be proactive in their university years to gain experience and develop a portfolio and their resume, and we may recommend students focus more on gaining experience rather than classes later in their design education.
