SCOE ME FAQs
Ques. Which GATE paper should I appear for each M.E. specialization at SCOE?
Ans. The relevant GATE paper depends on the chosen specialization: CS/IT paper for M.E. Computer Engineering and M.E. Information Technology; ME (Mechanical Engineering) paper for M.E. Design Engineering; EC (Electronics and Communication) paper for M.E. Embedded System and VLSI Design. All four specializations are admitted through the DTE Maharashtra PG CAP on cetcell.mahacet.org using GATE 2026 scores.
Ques. How is the AICTE PG Scholarship disbursed at SCOE, and do I need to pay fees separately?
Ans. The AICTE PG Scholarship of INR 12,400 per month is disbursed directly by AICTE to the student’s bank account after applying through the AICTE scholarship portal post-admission. It is not automatically deducted from college fees. Students must pay the first-year fee of INR 45,500 at the time of admission and then apply for the scholarship separately to receive the monthly stipend throughout the 2-year programme.
Ques. What is the difference between DTE Maharashtra PG CAP seats and institute-level M.E. seats at SCOE?
Ans. DTE Maharashtra PG CAP seats are filled through the centralized admissions process on cetcell.mahacet.org based on GATE 2026 score and category. Institute-level seats are a smaller quota filled by SCOE directly after CAP rounds are complete, where non-GATE candidates can apply based on their B.E./B.Tech aggregate. Both categories pay the same FRA-approved fee of INR 91,000 for the 2-year programme.
Ques. Is the M.E. degree from SCOE (SPPU-affiliated) valid for PhD admission at IITs and other central universities?
Ans. An M.E. degree from SCOE under Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) qualifies graduates for direct PhD admission at SPPU-affiliated institutions as per SPPU PhD regulations. For PhD at IITs or other central universities, a valid GATE score is typically required alongside the M.E. degree. SCOE’s NAAC Grade B accreditation ensures the degree is recognized nationally for academic and employment purposes.
Ques. Can I change my M.E. specialization at SCOE after getting a CAP allotment?
Ans. Once allotment is confirmed through DTE Maharashtra PG CAP, the specialization is fixed for that round. If a vacancy arises in another specialization in subsequent CAP rounds, candidates may participate again. It is strongly advisable to rank all preferred SCOE M.E. specializations in your option entry on cetcell.mahacet.org to maximize allotment chances across rounds.
Ques. Does SCOE offer part-time or distance M.E. programmes?
Ans. All M.E. programmes at SCOE Sudumbare are full-time (2 years). No part-time or distance M.E. option is available at this campus. Working professionals seeking flexibility should contact the SCOE admissions office at Sudumbre, Chakan-Talegaon Road, Pune, for the latest programme details before applying.
