Ques. What is DCET and how does it work for lateral entry at RGIT?
Ans. DCET (Diploma Common Entrance Test) is the Karnataka state-level exam conducted by KEA for lateral entry into the 2nd year of BE programmes. Diploma holders in Electronics or ECE who qualify DCET receive a rank used for centralised counselling to allot government-quota lateral seats at VTU colleges. RGIT Bangalore participates in this KEA counselling. The DCET 2026 exam was held on 23 May 2026 and results were declared in June 2026.

Ans. Candidates must hold a 3-year Diploma in Electronics, ECE, or a relevant branch from a recognised polytechnic, with at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC Karnataka candidates). A valid Karnataka DCET score is required for government-quota lateral seats. Karnataka domicile is mandatory for DCET government quota. Management-quota lateral seats are open to all-India Diploma holders who meet the academic eligibility criteria.
