Which Diploma + B.Tech branch should you pick at MIT-WPU?

Branch
Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical)
30 seats. INR 16.95 Lakhs for six years without hostel. Diploma fee INR 1,80,000 a year.
Pick it if:
You want to design and build machines: the university names Tata Motors, JCB and Volkswagen among the firms that take its mechanical students for internships.
You want a mechanical seat at a lower fee: the diploma years cost INR 1,80,000 a year, against INR 2,25,000 in the CSE branches.
You like a small class: this branch has 30 seats, so you study in one small group from year 1.
Skip it if:
You count on paying the same fee for six years: years 4 to 6 follow the regular B.Tech fee of that year, which is INR 3,85,000 a year for 2027.
You want coding to be your main subject: the tracks here are design engineering and energy engineering, not software.
Electronics and Communication Engineering (AI and ML) (ECE AI and ML)
60 seats. INR 16.95 Lakhs for six years without hostel. Diploma fee INR 1,80,000 a year.
Pick it if:
You want AI built into electronics and chips: the tracks include edge intelligence, AI in healthcare and deep learning, joined to electronics from year 1.
You want AI without the CSE fee: the diploma years cost INR 1,80,000 a year, against INR 2,25,000 for the CSE branches.
You want a bigger batch: this branch has 60 seats, twice the mechanical branches.
Skip it if:
You dislike circuits and hardware labs: half the work is electronics and communication, not only machine learning.
You expect the low diploma fee to last: from year 4 you pay INR 3,85,000 a year at the 2027 B.Tech fee.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
120 seats. INR 19.65 Lakhs for six years without hostel. Diploma fee INR 2,25,000 a year.
Pick it if:
You want a software job with a big IT firm: the university names Infosys, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS and Deloitte as recruiters for this programme.
You want the largest batch and the most classmates: this branch has 120 seats, the most of the six.
You scored high in Class 10: a CET score of 95 and 93% in Class 10 can get you the 100% award for years 1 to 3.
Skip it if:
You want the cheapest route to a B.Tech here: this is the costliest group, INR 19.65 Lakhs without hostel for six years.
You are close to the award line: the CSE branches need higher scores for every scholarship than the other branches.
Computer Science and Engineering (AI and Data Science) (CSE AI and DS)
60 seats. INR 19.65 Lakhs for six years without hostel. Diploma fee INR 2,25,000 a year.
Pick it if:
You want data and AI roles: the tracks cover business intelligence, medical image processing and time series forecasting, with a CSE base.
You want CSE depth with a data focus: it costs the same as CSE, INR 2,25,000 a year in the diploma years.
You have strong Class 10 marks: the same 100% award rule as CSE applies, a CET score of 95 and 93%.
Skip it if:
You want the widest choice of software electives: this branch is built around data science and AI, so it is narrower than CSE.
You want a lower fee: the B.Tech years cost INR 4,30,000 a year, the highest of the six branches.
Mechanical Engineering (Robotics and Automation) (Robotics)
30 seats. INR 16.35 Lakhs for six years without hostel. Diploma fee INR 1,80,000 a year.
Pick it if:
You want to build robots and automated machines: the course mixes mechanical, electronics and computer science, for roles such as robot and automation engineer.
You want the lowest B.Tech-years fee outside Civil: years 4 to 6 cost INR 3,65,000 a year, less than Mechanical.
You like a small class: the branch has only 30 seats in each intake, so classes stay small.
Skip it if:
You want only one subject area: you study three fields together, so the load is wide in every year.
You need a 100% award to afford it: it needs a CET score of 90 and 92% in Class 10.
Civil Engineering (Smart Infrastructure and Construction) (Civil)
30 seats. INR 13.95 Lakhs for six years without hostel. Diploma fee INR 1,50,000 a year.
Pick it if:
You want site, metro and infrastructure work: the course leads to roles such as site engineer and metro and infrastructure engineer, with drones and data in the tracks.
You want the lowest fee here: it costs INR 13.95 Lakhs without hostel for six years, the least of the six branches.
Your Class 10 marks are not at the top: the 25% award needs a CET score of 75 and 85%, the lowest bar here.
Skip it if:
You want an office job in a city: most first civil jobs start on a project site, not at a desk.
You want a big batch: this branch has only 30 seats.
Counsellor's advice
If your CET score and Class 10 marks reach an award line, check which branch it pays most in. If you are torn between two branches, pick the one whose year 4 to 6 fee you can pay, since that part is the biggest.

No. Without hostel, the six years cost INR 19.65 Lakhs in the Computer Science group and INR 13.95 Lakhs in Civil. Mechanical and ECE cost INR 16.95 Lakhs, and Robotics INR 16.35 Lakhs.
What fee do I pay in years 4 to 6?▾
You pay the regular B.Tech fee of that year, not the diploma fee. For 2027 it is INR 4,30,000 a year in the CSE branches and INR 3,15,000 in Civil, and it can change by then.
Which branch has the most seats?▾
Computer Science and Engineering has 120 seats. The AI and Data Science and the ECE AI and ML branches have 60 each, and the other three have 30 each.
Can I get a scholarship?▾
Yes. A high CET score with strong Class 10 marks can take 100%, 50% or 25% off the fee for years 1 to 3. You keep it with CGPA 8 and 80% attendance.
Does pay differ by branch?▾
The university publishes one set of B.Tech figures from its NIRF data: a median pay of INR 6 LPA and 55% placed in the Class of 2025. Nothing is published by branch, or for Diploma + B.Tech students alone.
Do I get my fee back if I cancel?▾
If you cancel before classes begin, you get the fee back minus INR 1,000. Within 10 days of the start, 10% of the year's fee is kept, and after 30 days nothing comes back.
