GHRCEM B.Tech FAQs

Ques. Does GHRCEM’s autonomous status affect the value or recognition of the B.Tech degree?

Ans. No, the B.Tech degree is conferred by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), which is a recognized state university. Autonomy is granted by the UGC to colleges that have demonstrated consistent academic quality. It allows GHRCEM to design its own syllabus and conduct internal exams independently, but the degree certificate you receive is from SPPU, so it carries the same recognition as any other SPPU-affiliated B.Tech for placements and higher education admissions.

Ques. Can I apply to GHRCEM Pune through JEE Main alone if I did not appear for MHT-CET 2026?

Ans. Yes, GHRCEM accepts JEE Main 2026 Paper-I scores as an alternative to MHT-CET for CAP admissions. Your JEE Main percentile is used to prepare the CAP merit list and you can fill option forms for SPPU-affiliated colleges including GHRCEM. MHT-CET generally offers a better percentile-to-rank conversion for most branches since the CAP pool for JEE Main candidates is smaller and more competitive. Both pathways go through the centralized Maharashtra CET Cell counselling process.

Ques. What is the practical difference between B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and B.Tech AI and Machine Learning at GHRCEM?

Ans. B.Tech Artificial Intelligence focuses on intelligent systems covering reasoning, planning, and knowledge representation. B.Tech AI and Machine Learning adds a dedicated track in statistical learning, deep learning frameworks, and data-driven model building, making it better suited for data science and ML engineering roles. Both carry the same total fee of INR 5,34,000 and run for four years. For software roles at product companies working on AI systems, the AI and Machine Learning specialisation maps more closely to current job descriptions in placement drives.

Ques. Is Lateral Entry B.Tech admission at GHRCEM also handled through the CAP process, and what is the total fee?

Ans. Yes, Lateral Entry admissions at GHRCEM are through MAH-LATFYE-CET, a separate centralized process run by the Maharashtra State CET Cell. Eligible candidates are diploma holders in a relevant engineering branch from a recognized polytechnic with at least 45% marks. The total lateral entry fee across three years is INR 3,65,674. Seats are offered after regular CAP rounds are complete, so availability depends on vacancies remaining in each specialisation.

Ques. How far is GHRCEM from central Pune, and is daily commuting practical for students living off-campus?

Ans. GHRCEM is located in Wagholi on the Pune-Ahmednagar Road, 16 km from Pune Railway Station and 12 km from Pune Airport. The campus is reachable via PMPML bus routes and shared cabs from Viman Nagar, 6 km away. Students from eastern Pune suburbs can commute daily. Those from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kothrud, or Hadapsar often prefer the on-campus hostel, where charges run from INR 70,000 to INR 1,05,000 per year based on room type and meal plan.
