Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must hold a 3-year Diploma in Engineering in the relevant or an allied branch from an AICTE-approved polytechnic with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks (45 per cent for reserved category candidates).
- Candidates with a B.Sc degree that includes Mathematics as a core subject, with at least 50 per cent aggregate from a recognised university and who have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level, are also eligible for lateral entry to B.Tech.
- Admission is through JELET 2026 (Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test) conducted by WBJEEB. JELET 2026 was held June 13, 2026. Results are expected in early July 2026.
- Lateral entry seats at BCET are capped at 20 per cent of sanctioned intake per branch, as per state government and MAKAUT norms.
Admission Process
- Qualify JELET 2026 (held June 13, 2026) conducted by WBJEEB at wbjeeb.nic.in.
- Register on the WBJEEB or MAKAUT lateral entry counselling portal once JELET 2026 results are declared (expected early July 2026).
- Fill in preferences and choose BCET Durgapur with the relevant branch during the counselling round.
