Ans. IIT Gandhinagar CSE is a well-regarded program and despite being newly launched it has gained popularity in a short time period. This in itself is a testament to the quality of education offered here. The institute fairs well in almost all aspects be it faculty, opportunities, internships, and projects, etc.  The new IITs have their own weaknesses and strengths. Even the departments within an institute are not at the same level. The CSE department of IIT Gandhinagar is certainly superior among other branches of the institute and the institute itself is better than other new IITs.  The professors here have high qualifications and a strong research profile.  In all, you should certainly join CAE at IIT Gandhinagar if you want to experience a good campus life, with locational advantages, and excellent placements. Read more

Ans. IIT Gandhinagar has a great CSE department. The professors are among the best in India. Almost 50% of the faculty members are from the industry. So, you will get hands-on learning experience and in-depth knowledge about the current trends in the industry.  IITGN has a high-performing computer lab and two departmental labs with a capacity of 100 computers each. The research interface of the department is something the institute boasts about. Professors actively take part in cutting-edge research projects.  Companies such as IOCL, Goldman Sachs, ISRO, ITC, etc. recruit CSE students through IIT Gandhinagar placements. Ans. When it comes to IITs it’s not really easy to compare them especially when these both are of the same generation. However, if you still need to compare it is important for you to understand that an undergraduate degree is more of an exploration to discover your passion and interest. This hypothesis has been vetted by a large number of IIT graduates, IIM graduates, and many professors and IIT alums. Let’s take a few examples for a case in point. Dr. Raghuram Rajan, a top IIT alum studied electrical at IIT, followed up with an MBA at IIM and then a Ph.D. from MIT to become an economist. Also, the TVF guy (Jeetu bhaiya from the Kota Factory) did undergrad from IIT Kharagpur only to become a comedian and actor later. Interesting isn’t it? Flexibility: So now that you understand the importance of flexibility and passion, IIT Gandhinagar stands out here undoubtedly. The curriculum at IIT Gandhinagar is very flexible and it allows you to study anything under the sun. This flexibility is the reason behind the success of Many IIT Gandhinagar graduates. Apart from that, IIT Gandhinagar has the most funds among the second generation IITs. It offers around 30–40% of the batch with options to pursue foreign internships and great research opportunities. Location: If you compare IIT Ropar with IIT Gandhinagar, the latter takes the trophy again because it is situated in Gandhinagar which is the capital of Gujarat. The campus sits in the vicinity of CM residence, Vidhan Sabha, ambitious GIFT City project, prominent institutes such as DAIICT, NIFT, and many others. Placement: Placements at IIT Gandhinagar is excellent. The first CSE batch graduated in 2020. Without CSE only, firms such as Nutanix, Goldman Sachs, ITC, Barclays, etc. have been recruiting at the campus.  Alumni: IIT Gandhinagar has to date graduated about 600+ students from BTech and at least 80–90% of them are quite successful. You can see alums are working in firms such as Mckinsey, Microsoft in the US, Amazon, Apple, BCG, ATK, Google, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, ITC, PnG, to name a few. Ans. The choice of the institute between IIT Gandhinagar CSE  and IIT Guwahati ECE depends if you want to follow the branch of your interest or want just go for the brand name of the institute.  If you value a branch more than a brand then go for the institute that offers the branch of your choice. If you are inclined towards CSE, then go for IIT Gandhinagar without much hesitation. Despite being a new IIT, it offers the IT tag and education at par with most IITs. Don’t let the fact that it’s a new IIT demotivate you. The students maketh the college and not vice versa. But if you are bothered by the brand value and are hesitant about joining a new IIT, then go for IIT Guwahati.Read more

Ans. If you take my opinion then opting for IIT Gandhinagar for CSE is a better choice than going for ECE at IIT Guwahati. I am a student of IIT Gandhinagar and I can say that the CSE department is one of the best departments in terms of curriculums and placements. IIT Gandhinagar offers 4 years full-time BTech program for CSE. The average course fee for the first year is around INR 2.29 Lakhs . IIT Gandhinagar holds a ranking of 18th position out of 200 colleges in the NIRF ranking. The placement scenario for the department is good with 94.44% of students being placed in 2023 The median package is INR 25.06 LPA and the average package is INR 29.29 LPA.Read more

Ans. I am a CSE student at IIT Patna and I will try to justify why choosing IIT Patna for your CSE is a good decision. Don’t base your choice on how old an institution is.  All the new IITs like IIT Patna or IIT Jodhpur are doing exceptionally well, some are even competing against the old IITs. IIT Patna has a great campus and it has achieved tremendous success in a short span of time.  CSE department has a learned and supportive faculty and great seniors. The teams have always performed exceptionally well in the ACM-ICPC and have even made it to the world finals. A good number of students clear the  GSoC( Google Summer of Code).  NJACK club organizes tutorial classes and workshops on Web development, App development, Android, etc. It also organizes competitions like Capture the Flag, NWoC-an open source coding event, and other competitions throughout the year. Other interdisciplinary teams which you can join are ROBOCON, Supra BAJA, HPVC etc.  CSE alums at IIT Patna have made successful startups and others are working in good positions at top MNCs. Overall, the coding culture over here is excellent. The placements for the CSE department are quite impressive. For 2023 placements, the highest package stood at INR 82.05 LPA. The average package stood at INR 35.57 LPA and the median package stood at INR 32.85 LPA. 98.65% of students from the CSE branch were placed. In the end, whether you choose IIT Jodhpur, IIT Mandi, IIT Patna, or any other institution, the choice should be based on your personal preference. Ans. My friend is a student at IIT Patna and shared his side of the story about city life there. Unlike the general misconception, Patna is rather a safe city.  He visited the city frequently to buy basic things and never did he feel unsafe or comfortable during the 4 years of his stay.  The campus of IIT Patna spreads across a massive 500 acres and is beautifully designed. The campus is still in its development phase but not to the extent that it will hamper your college life experience in any way. Students can be seen roaming around and indulging in sports such as table tennis and cricket.  As for the CS department, IIT Patna is very dynamic and has many clubs that will keep you motivated and interested in the field. I would certainly recommend you to go to IIT Patna and experience the bliss of college life.Read more

Ans. IIT Patna placement 2023 has witnessed a great start with the highest salary standing at INR 82.05 LPA and the average salary standing at INR 29.30 LPA. Students received 72 PPOs and in all 281 offers were made. Some of the Top Recruiters were Amazon, Google, Adobe, etc. Last year, students received 412 offers including 10 international offers. The highest international salary was recorded at INR 1.37 CPA and the highest domestic salary at INR 61.30 LPA. Ques. Which is better: a CSE at new IITs like Patna, Indore or a CSE at DTU?

Ans. My friend was in a similar dilemma last year and chose DTU over IIT Patna. She considers new IITs overhyped and not at par with the IIT standards. Running after the IIT tag is not logical and you should look at the bigger picture. Anaise your career prospects and see if other options fit your prospects or not.  DTU is a great option for CSE considering the excellent exposure and opportunities you will get in Delhi, the capital. The salary packages, the companies, and the profiles offered at DTU are similar to the new IITs if not better.  To make things simpler, here are a few pros and cons of going for a new IIT instead of DTU Pros: The most coveted IIT tag name, helps you get admission to foreign universities and also helps you in off-campus job hunt. IITs have better research opportunities  The academic structure and pedagogy are world-class at IITs Cons: Being in Delhi will groom your overall personality in addition to excellent professional opportunities and exposure.  The new IITs fail to give a vibrant and dynamic college life and are still struggling with infrastructure and basics. DTU, being old, has a vibrant culture with all sorts of fests, cultural and tech activities. Delhi is the hub of coaching institutes for higher education.  DTU has a better brand name established by its successful alumni spread across the globe.  Ultimately it’s your choice whether you want a better campus life or the IIT tag. Read more
