Royal Roads University Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Royal Roads University runs three intakes each year: January, May and September, per the official international admissions page. September is the largest window and where most Indian applicants land. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis inside each cycle, so early submissions get earlier decisions. Royal Roads University’s primary intake for Indian students is September, most programs open here.

Intake Level App Opens Deadline App Fee
September 2026 UG and PG Open 10 May 2026 (Closed) CAD 131 (INR 9,022)
January 2027 UG and PG Open 5 October 2026 CAD 131 (INR 9,022)
May 2027 UG and PG Open Early February 2027 (est.) CAD 131 (INR 9,022)
September 2027 (Primary intake) UG and PG Open Early May 2027 (est.) CAD 131 (INR 9,022)

Some cohort-based master's and doctoral programs run on separate calendars with earlier document deadlines. Indian applicants should back-plan around study permit processing of 8 to 12 weeks, adding another 4 to 6 weeks for RRU’s admission decision.

Planning note: The 5 October 2026 January-intake deadline is roughly five weeks from today. If you still need to sit IELTS or gather transcripts, target the May 2027 or September 2027 cycles instead of rushing an incomplete application.

Royal Roads University Eligibility for Indian Applicants

Royal Roads University sets separate academic floors for undergraduate degree-completion routes and the graduate portfolio. The English requirement is common across both, and the university accepts multiple recognised proficiency tests. Program-specific pages may set higher floors.

  • UG general entry: at least two years of completed post-secondary study with a minimum 65% average.
  • PG general entry: a four-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum 60% average, plus relevant professional or leadership experience.
  • Three-year Indian bachelor’s: considered from a NAAC A-rated institution with first-class standing, or via a bachelor + master’s combination.
  • English test floors: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (6.5 in writing and speaking, 6.0 in listening and reading), TOEFL iBT 88 (writing 24, others 20), or PTE Academic 60 (60 in writing and speaking, 58 in listening and reading).
  • Test validity: scores are valid for two years from the exam date; IELTS One Skill Retake is accepted.

Royal Roads University English Waiver for Indian UG Applicants

Indian applicants entering an undergraduate degree-completion program may bypass the IELTS/TOEFL requirement by presenting Class XII English at a minimum 67% alongside an overall 73% CGPA across three academic subjects, per the country-specific admission guidelines. This exemption applies at the UG level and is confirmed on the program page during application review. Graduate applicants generally cannot substitute Class XII English and must submit a live test score.

Royal Roads University Postgraduate Programs for Indian Students

Royal Roads University’s graduate portfolio spans business, leadership, communication, environmental and interdisciplinary studies. Most master’s programs run in a blended format with short on-campus residencies and cost roughly CAD 34,472 to 64,654 in total (INR 23.74 to 44.53 Lakhs), depending on program and duration. See the course-wise fees breakdown for exact figures per programme.

Programme Duration Minimum Eligibility English Req. Min.
Master of Business Administration (Executive Management) 18 or 31 months 4-year bachelor’s, 60%+, plus leadership experience IELTS 6.5
Master of Global Management 12 or 19 months 4-year bachelor’s, 60%+, business or related discipline IELTS 6.5
Master of Arts in Global Leadership 24 months 4-year bachelor’s, 60%+, leadership role experience IELTS 6.5
Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management 24 months 4-year bachelor’s, 60%+, related work experience IELTS 6.5

Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Communication 24 months 4-year bachelor’s, 60%+, environmental sector experience IELTS 6.5

Three-year Indian bachelor’s holders are considered if the degree is from a NAAC A-rated institution with first-class standing. Others typically need a postgraduate diploma or a bachelor + master combination to bridge the four-year expectation. Program pages list any prerequisite coursework or portfolio review beyond the general floor.

Insider note: Royal Roads uses a blended cohort model: students take one course intensively for a few weeks online with short two-week residencies in Victoria. Indian applicants should build a work-back plan that includes study permit approval before the first on-campus residency dates listed in the offer letter.

Royal Roads University Undergraduate Programs for Indian Students

Royal Roads University runs degree-completion undergraduate programs, which means students enter with two years of prior post-secondary study and finish the third and fourth years at RRU. Base tuition sits around CAD 22,150 to 47,726 (INR 15.25 to 32.87 Lakhs) per year of full-time study, depending on the school. Indian applicants completing a three-year bachelor’s or a diploma-plus-degree pathway are the typical fit.

Programme Duration Minimum Eligibility English Req. Min.
Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management 24 months 2 years post-secondary at 65%+, business subjects preferred IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication 24 months 2 years post-secondary at 65%+ IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Arts in Global Tourism Management 24 months 2 years post-secondary at 65%+ IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies 24 months 2 years post-secondary at 65%+ IELTS 6.5

Indian applicants without two years of college can enter through a diploma or partial degree if a Canadian credential-evaluation body (IQAS or WES) equates the qualification. Class XII marks alone do not satisfy the entry floor for these programs.

Royal Roads University MBA Admissions for Indian Students

The Royal Roads University MBA in Executive Management is the flagship graduate business program and runs in two formats: an intensive 18-month track and a longer 31-month working-professional track. Intakes for the MBA are January and July, which sit on a separate cycle from the general university calendar.

MBA Track Intake Application Deadline Tuition
18-month (full-time blended) January 2027 4 October 2026 CAD 61,575 (INR 42.41 Lakhs) per year
31-month (part-time) July 2027 Early April 2027 (est.) CAD 61,575 (INR 42.41 Lakhs) per year

Royal Roads University MBA Experience and Selection Criteria

The MBA in Executive Management prioritises mid-career applicants with leadership responsibility. RRU expects a four-year bachelor’s degree with a 60% minimum, plus meaningful management or supervisory experience. There is no institutional GMAT or GRE requirement, and the admission decision leans on the CV, statement of intent, two references and any interview the admissions team requests. Indian applicants with a three-year bachelor’s typically qualify through the postgraduate-diploma or additional-work-experience route.

Royal Roads University PhD and Doctorate Admissions

Royal Roads University offers two doctoral programs: the Doctor of Social Sciences (DSocSci) and the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA). Both are structured for mid-to-late career professionals and blend online coursework with short campus residencies over four to six years. The doctoral scholarship competition runs annually from 1 September to 1 November.

Royal Roads University Doctor of Social Sciences Requirements

DSocSci applicants need a master’s degree in a social science or related field, at least ten years of senior-level decision-making experience, and evidence of scholarship-related engagement. A research statement and two academic-plus-professional references are part of the file. Intake is annually, typically in September, with the application deadline in the preceding February.

Royal Roads University Application Process and Portal

Royal Roads University processes all international applications through its own portal, called MyAdmin. There is no Common App, UCAS, or provincial system involved for RRU applicants, which keeps the paperwork centralised in one place.

  1. Create a MyAdmin account on the RRU applications portal and start the online application for your target intake.
  2. Pay the application fee of CAD 131 (around INR 9,022) on the RRU MyAdmin application portal; the fee is non-refundable.
  3. Submit supporting documents through the GO.RRU document portal linked from your application summary.
  4. Track status inside GO.RRU as documents are reviewed and any additional items are requested.
  5. Accept the offer and pay the tuition deposit by the date named in the letter of offer to hold your seat.

Royal Roads University Admission Decisions Timeline

After a complete file lands with RRU Admissions, decisions typically arrive within four to six weeks. Peak-cycle windows (August to October for the January intake and March to May for September) can add a week or two. The offer letter names a deposit deadline; missing it releases the seat. Deferrals to a later intake are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be requested in writing before the study term begins.

Royal Roads University Documents Required for Indian Applicants

Royal Roads University asks Indian applicants to submit a defined document set through the GO.RRU portal. All documents not originally in English must be accompanied by certified English translations. Credential evaluation from IQAS or WES is required when RRU cannot match your qualification directly.

  • Passport bio page: a clear scan of the photo page.
  • Academic transcripts: official Class X, Class XII, and all post-secondary transcripts and degree certificates.
  • Credential evaluation: IQAS or WES report where required by the program.
  • English test score report: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic sent from the testing body.
  • Statement of intent: a one-to-two page essay covering goals and program fit.
  • References: two academic or professional references submitted directly by the referee.
  • Resume or CV: a chronological summary with all work experience for graduate programs.
  • Experience letters: for MBA, DSocSci, DBA, MA Leadership and similar experience-weighted programs.
  • Portfolio: only for the MA in Professional Communication and select creative streams.

Royal Roads University Acceptance Rate for Indian Applicants

Royal Roads University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party admissions trackers estimate it at around 60%, based on program-level admission patterns across the RRU portfolio. That places RRU on the moderately selective side of the Canadian mid-tier, meaning most applicants who clear the stated academic and English floors receive an offer.

Royal Roads University Selectivity by Program

The MBA in Executive Management and the two doctoral programs are the most selective, since seats are cohort-capped and admission depends on leadership experience alongside academics. Degree-completion undergraduate programs and the general MA portfolio see higher offer rates because seats are less constrained and the eligibility floor does most of the filtering.

Canada Student Visa Process for Royal Roads University Applicants

Once MSU Mankato issues the I-20 through MavMAIL, Indian students can begin the F-1 visa process. This involves paying the USD 350 SEVIS fee, completing the DS-160, paying the USD 185 visa fee, and scheduling biometrics and the visa interview at a US consulate in India.

Students should carry their I-20, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS receipt, admission letter, and financial documents. Proof of funds should cover the first year’s tuition, fees, and living expenses, using bank statements, education loans, or sponsorship documents. After arriving in the US, students must check in with the Kearney International Center and attend the mandatory international orientation before classes begin.

2026 update: Royal Roads University is on the IRCC list of Designated Learning Institutions, and its degree-length programs align with the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) field-of-study rules updated in November 2024. Confirm your specific program’s PGWP eligibility before enrolling.

Overview

It was a bittersweet experience due to the strict rules and high level of rigor compared to other universities. Despite pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the courses often felt more akin to an MBA program. The university emphasized pragmatism and enforced strict adherence to it. However, aside from these challenging moments, everything else about the experience was sweet. The knowledge gained, the outcomes achieved, the supportive community, the people of Victoria, the campus environment – all contributed to a memorable and enriching journey.
