  • It varies from case to case; some people get it just after the completion and some do not get it at all and they return back to the home country. A common case is of my friend; he did his thesis with one company and they offered him a full-time job. But this is not a frequent case; in most cases it can take up to 6 months to land a good job.
  • I am not sure but this depends on the job profile. I went for my PhD after completion.
  • As mentioned earlier, there is no concept of campus placement; here you are on your own to find a job. the university's responsibility is to transfer the knowledge and equip you with the skill sets.
  • For mechanical engineering graduates Volkswagen and similar automobile companies can be targeted, but they do not come for campus placement. you have to make your way somehow.

  • I went through an agency called Studentenwerk; I would recommend this, as it is cheap and especially for international students.
  • For me the monthly rent was around 300 euros a month back in 2022 but it must have increased; you can expect around 600 euros for a good studio in hanover.
  • The thing with accommodation is, it is very difficult to get with studentenwerk. So the suggestion is to book as early as possible after you receive the confirmation of your admission.
  • It is not that far; if you are based on the main campus, you can reach it in 2-3 mins by tram/bus but if you are based in mechanical engineering, it will take you 15-20 mins to reach from the city centre. Another option is to have an accommodation near Mechanical engineering campus, depending on your liking.

  • Here the job searching is totally different from India. Here you have to network by yourself with different people. Here, networking is everything! Your professor can help or can't, depending upon your relationship with the professor.
  • But trust your talent; you will land something for sure. it may take some time, especially for international students, as they don't have Canadian experience.

  • For finding accommodation, it is mostly through friends, which is the most trustworthy, as international students are more prone to SCAMS. Be aware of it!. Some other platforms are facebook marketplace, Kjiji.
  • But make sure you sign the proper document and read the agreement terms and conditions. Some landlords create an issue, especially for those of Asian origin.

There is no on-campus placements like India. However, there are career fairs but they offer limited help. A student would have to build their network through events to secure a job. Also, in Montreal, the knowledge of French is must to find a job. Because of this requirement, a lot of students move to a different city to find a job.

The overall experience is pretty good. The campus has a lot of racial diversity and you meet people from different cultures and ethnicities. We have esteemed faculty and research professionals too. The campus has decent infrastructure with good wifi. The food options are limited on campus but we have good restaurants and fast food outlets nearby.

I am in the middle of my PhD now so I am not yet sure about the Biotech market in Canada right now. But as per my observation and analysis, a minimum of $80,000 per annum of salary could be obtained after a PhD degree. There is no such thing as placements. So its all about the networking, applications, skill development and being clear about the job roles which may land anyone in their dream jobs.

There are a lot of research opportunities available through the University. As for post study placement programs, it would depend on your field of study, but they tend to be more available for engineering or business students. Major companies take a lot of students from our graduate pool and they offer a number of students with intern programs or entry-level opportunities. Most of our students are able to find placement with good companies good jobs And good placement overall. Salaries will depend on field of study as well but overall McGill graduates would have an opportunity to be offered the higher range of entry level salaries.

Overall, I was really satisfied with my college experience. It was some of the best years of my life and expose me to some of the best friends I’ve ever made. It also jumped me onto a path of life long learning, which was very valuable.

Probably the best in Canada

You can get RA positions if you try hard enough. You can get an internship at the law firms. CDO (google it) helps you in the process too. But ultimately your efforts will decide your career, nothing else.

Law fac is something else at McGill University: Superb University culture, chill atrium with a Piano and ping pong table, massive networking opportunities, very-very friendly students (much better than anywhere else in Canada - based on the experience of students who were previously in UBC and UfT), and opportunity to learn French and experience French culture. Located in Montreal, a city like no other. The only drawback is that finding part-time jobs without french can be difficult. Also, NCA students will have to make more efforts than UfT or UBC students owing to location constraints. Remember, if you are in trouble, seek help and there will be some help around every corner. McGill Law is good at that.
