Carleton University admits international students for multiple intakes each academic year. The Fall intake (September) is the primary admission cycle for most undergraduate and graduate programs. The Winter intake (January) is available for selected programs. The summer (May) intake is limited and offered only for specific programs with program-level deadlines.
Application deadlines for international students:
- Undergraduate programs (Fall): Rolling admissions (recommended deadline: 1 April 2026)
- Graduate programs: Program-specific deadlines (generally January-July 2026, depending on the program and intake)
- Summer intake: No university-wide deadline; deadlines vary by department
Undergraduate applicants can apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) or directly via Carleton 360. Graduate applicants must apply through Carleton 360, which is the mandatory application portal for all postgraduate programs at Carleton University.
For admissions, undergraduate applicants must have completed senior secondary education with a minimum of 70% or more. Graduate applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree or a three-year bachelor’s (minimum 65-74%). International students are also required to meet English language proficiency standards through tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, or CAEL, depending on the program. Supporting documents typically include academic transcripts, a statement of intent or personal statement, a CV, portfolio, writing sample, letters of recommendation, and standardised test scores such as GRE or GMAT.

- Good university
Dislikes
- But not lot of placement opportunities here as there will be career fair
Likes
- Courses are practical and well structured.
Dislikes
- But all the programs are not designed with CO-OP. Which is bit disappointing.
Overview
A comprehensive list of extracurriculars is required, otherwise the holistic process just consists of your high school GPA. Carleton University offers one of the only Pre-Law programs in Canada, which is what majorly drew me towards it. Along with that, the placements in the fields of psychology and law are quite well-reputed. The city of Ottawa as well, since the Parliament is located there, is what made me choose Carleton due to the plethora of internship opportunities. Till now, my experience at Carleton has been amazing, right from the academic structure of my course, to the approach of the faculty, to the social assimilation.
Scholarship
Yes, I received an entrance scholarship.

- It is in capital of Canada. Good job opportunities around. The university is well reputed and ranked.
Overview
Overall it was a good experience. Although coming from another country and adjusting is difficult but it was overall a very good experience.
Likes
- I liked the reputation that the college holds with local employers. Employers are always willing to prioritize Carleton students for roles at their companies for Internships as well as permanent roles.
Dislikes
- As I said above, the location of the University is a bit of the problem because the Ottawa region has long and cold winters.
Overview
Scholarship and Program Structure. The co-op option helps to gain some work experience during the degree apart from making some money. The community is nice and supportive as well, with a good amount of resources available for all sorts of problems that one might bump into. I love the course structure and teaching methodologies applied by the faculty, but I dislike the Canadian winters. They're depressing and make you want to skip onto work that's important to hand in within a given time frame.
Overview
Carleton University has a separate Data Science Lab and they specialize in Data Science. I can choose courses from either Carleton or Ottawa and thus have the advantage of studying at another branded university. I could shape my master's curriculum. I can study whatever I want. This is what I studied about ML in my Master's. Carleton has an underground tunnel to keep you warm while you go to university in the winter. They have well-knowledgeable faculty. They cover more material and the exams are tougher but you will benefit from learning many things. Carleton is one of the best institutions if you want to tailor your master's to your interests. You have the option of taking courses outside your department. I took two courses outside my department.
Scholarship
No, but you can opt for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. The website of each university will have ample details about all the scholarships offered. Read it completely and apply before the deadline.
Overview
Carleton University is one of the highly ranked universities in Canada and is located in I capital of Ontario i.e. Ottawa which is one of the best places for international students in terms of Job Opportunities and facilities. Furthermore, the University has its alumni placed in high-ranked companies which is a big plus point to join Carleton.
Scholarship
No, I was not awarded any scholarship.
Overview
Location as Ottawa is the Capital of Canada. Lots of job prospects.
Scholarship

Overview
I learned about this college through word of mouth from older friends who went there. The admission process was very easy (like most other Ontario universities done through OUAC). I applied to three other universities (Toronto, Laurentian, and Windsor). I choose this university because when touring the school I realized how nice the campus was- everything is conveniently together in one campus and there is a very warm sense of community there. The students are kind and the profs care about students. There is always help for anything you are experiencing. Ottawa itself provides the capital city advantage with lots of volunteer and job opportunities as well as delicious restaurants, lots of services, and tourism. I was an A student in grade 12.
Overview
Least expensive University in the Ottawa area. The only other option is Ottawa University and their tutition is almost a third more expensive. This was the only University I applied to, therefore I did not spend a lot of time or money applying to different schools. I believe that the application price was just over $200.
Scholarship
Yes. The scholarship was automatically granted to me and applied to my tuition costs upon my acceptance.
