- Master of Science (M.Sc) in Nursing at the University of Victoria is offered as a two years program by School of Nursing.
- The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
- The School is committed to generating knowledge, advancing the nursing profession and discipline, and enhancing advanced practice nursing to improve health for individuals, families, communities, and society.
- The program is practice-oriented and theory-based, intended to prepare nurses for a wide variety of advanced practice roles, including clinical nurse specialists.
- Students will become a leader in different spheres of influence, from client interactions to health policies and systems.
- They offer either a capstone or research thesis that integrates theory into nursing practices.
- Graduates of the program will be leaders in five spheres of influence: the patient/client sphere, the nurses/nursing sphere, the interprofessional/intersectoral health spheres, the organization sphere, and the health policy and systems sphere.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants must have completed a Baccalaureate in Nursing (equivalent to the degree offered by the University of Victoria).
- A grade point average of 5.0/9.0 (B or equivalent) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete a Bachelor’s (4 years) degree in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

- Resume/CV: It is the outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
- Two Letter of Recommendation: Letter of recommendation (combination of professional and academic recommenders) which includes information about the student, their connection with the person they are recommending, their qualification, and the specific skills they have.
- Statement of Purpose: This statement must describe your qualifications and the objectives of your intended educational program.
- Personal statement: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience and provides a formal sample of the applicant's writing.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
