What Students Say?
Likes
- What I like about York University is that it has a great faculty and an amazing infrastructure. The university is so big it took me a whole week to navigate. I have seen multiculturalism here. I totally got all the feels of Canada.
Dislikes
- But there is one thing I dislike the most and that is no extracurricular activities for students of the school of continuing studies building at least I haven't been part of any till yet. They are just restricted to teaching but then I see so many events happening in other buildings, and honestly, students of this building feel left out.
I have been dreaming of studying in Canada since class 10 in 2017. But Covid happened so I couldn't leave. When I was in college in India I really loved the subject of Human Resources Management and I decided to study it in canada as well and then decided York University for the same. York University has amazing rankings for faculty and teaching norms. Also, I wanted to go to a University and see how it feels to study in a university. Also, HRM is considered one of the best courses offered by York. I have made friends here and I am currently loving my student life at York, but it definitely gets boring because there are no extracurricular activities for us.
Course Curriculum
They teach everything they are telling on their website. But the industrial exposure and research experience are very less. Honestly, I have heard more from my friends who are in other colleges that their college got this or that industrialist to meet the students. My university just once has called the CHRP-certified people. CHRP is an exam of HRM.
Exams
- I gave IELTS, overall you need a 6.5, 6 or above in every module. I got 6.5. Listening- 6.5, Writing-6, Speaking- 7, Reading-6.5 You can give Duolingo and many other options are available too and that can be checked on the york’s website. - CBSE - 84% in 12th; CBSE - 86% in 10th IP university- Bachelors in business administration - 88% in UG - Requirements: We have to submit all of these 3 to the university. But honestly, the main thing that matters is SOP and how you write it and I took help from my counsellor. The main points to include are why choose Canada, why that particular university or college, your career possibilities and that you will leave Canada after your studies. You justify all of these points in your SOP. The other two resumes and LORs hardly matter, to be honest. The main focus is SOP, it will decide your selection.
Placement
Since I am in the 4 months of my studies, nothing has happened yet. No company has visited.
Fees
$19000 approximately plus taxes.
Faculty
The faculty in HRM are so good. They solve each and every doubt. And really understand our problems too. But nobody will help you to get a job here in Canada you have to find it on your own.
Campus Life
There are many campuses. I don't have an idea. There are so many libraries and eating places at York university. I have hardly seen York organising fests or events because they haven't done anything for us till now. Though the university has an amazing gym and pool and playing activities.
Hostel
I live in a shared room with my friend and I pay $550 for it. I believe I am paying a very good amount because I have checked other places are too expensive. A feasible option is definitely sharing a room with someone you are comfortable.
